Grayson entered the room with the doctor in tow. Despite his composed demeanor, I could sense his unease. To reassure him, I offered a warm smile, hoping it conveyed that I was okay.

“Ms. Isabella, these fainting spells may happen more often if you’re not careful. Keep something sweet with you,” the doctor said. “How often do you work out?”
“Three times a week, doctor,” I replied. As a celebrity, staying in shape was essential for my career.
“Have you ever fainted while exercising?” he pressed.
My cheeks burned crimson as I instinctively glanced at Grayson. The truth was embarrassing: it happened after particularly… passionate moments with him. Long, intense lovemaking sessions had a way of leaving me utterly drained.
Grayson’s lips curled into a faint smirk as if he could read my thoughts.
“There have been occasions, doctor,” Grayson answered smoothly.
“Really, Isabella? Why didn’t you tell me about this?” Cassie interjected, her voice wavering between worry and intrigue.
I resisted the urge to blurt out, ‘Because some details of married life are meant to stay private, dear friend.
“Just monitor yourself closely,” the doctor concluded his examination with a professional nod before depar
Cassie slipped out after him, clearly uncomfortable with Grayson’s presence. She’d never been at ease around my husband.
Once the room was quiet, I patted the space on the hospital bed beside me.
“Come here,” I murmured sweetly.
Grayson hesitated. “It’s small. Besides, I might do something that could make you faint again.”
I pouted at him. “I just want to snuggle. You’ve been away for days, and I miss your hugs.”
Grayson lay beside me, his gentle smile calming. I curled into him, wrapping my arms around his waist and leaning against his chest.
Ah, this was where I wanted to be–safe, loved, and utterly myself. Only with Grayson did I feel this complete, this young at heart, as though falling in love for the first time all over again.
His body tensed slightly beneath my touch, and I could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my ear.
“I’m not fully caught up on everything that’s been happening these past few days,” I said, my hand gliding gently along his back. “Cassie’s mentioned a few things, but can you fill me in on the details?”
“The office has been… challenging,” he admitted, his hand moving through my hair gently. “We had to replace several staff members who resigned recently. Thankfully, Eliot has been dependable, as always, but a backlog of documents still needs attention. The team is adjusting to the new management structure.”
His voice was calm, and a flutter of butterflies danced in my chest at that moment.
“I have news,” I brightened. “I’m attending an awards night soon. I’ve been nominated as a supporting actress. Will you be staying here for a few days?”
He looked at me with those deep, reassuring eyes and replied, “As your husband, it’s my job to take care of you. Of course, I’ll stay.”

A delighted laugh escaped me as my lips curled into a genuine smile. I felt so giddy, like I could dance on air, my heart singing with happiness.
We chatted about a few other things–Grandma Blake’s current condition and some businesses he was in the process of acquiring. With each passing moment, I felt my eyelids growing heavier, the weight of sleep beginning to settle over me.
“You should rest now, Bella,” Grayson murmured, his voice soothingly.
I blinked up at him sleepily. “Gray… can I ask you something?”
“What is it?”
The words hovered on the edge of my tongue: ‘Why did you leave town back then without telling me?‘
But I couldn’t bring myself to say them. Instead, sleep claimed me, pulling me under before I could voice it.
Before the darkness fully enveloped me, I murmured faintly, “I want to stay as your wife, Gray… Keep spoiling me…”
Because the truth was, aside from Cassie, only Grayson ever made me feel genuinely supported.

Grayson took me to the Grand Plaza Hotel, where he was currently managing operations. Things were being arranged at the villa, and he wanted to ensure there would be no germs or viruses in our home after I had fallen ill there.
He was a control freak who couldn’t stand the thought of sickness touching him.
“With the amount of work I have,” he’d say, “I can’t afford to get sick.”
While at the hotel, I had a chance to review the audit and business plan for SummitGlow. The work helped take my mind off feeling stuck, but after hours of spreadsheets, I needed fresh air.
“I’m going to grab some snacks,” I told Grayson.
He patted my head like a child, a silent command to behave and return soon.
It was my first time leaving the suite in three days. Grayson kept me inside because no one knew I was Mrs. Blake.
While waiting at the hotel’s dessert shop for my banana split and ice cream cone, I noticed messages from Sophia and Cassie.
I sent you PulseFive’s schedule for this month. They’ve been creating content for major video and social media platforms,‘ a message from my manager.
Since my livestream with Cassie was a success, I told Sophia we could also make the boys social media stars. With the exposure, job offers would follow, just like mine had. I was already receiving offers from several big brands.
I replied: “Thanks for the hard work, Sophia!”
Cassie messaged right after: ‘Heading to the hotel now! It’s been three days since we’ve seen each other! Has Mr. Control- Freak been keeping you prisoner?‘
Geez, this woman! I quickly replied with my room number, hoping to ease her mind.
Heading for the elevator, I spotted Sabrina clinging to Gabriel’s arm. When she saw me, she flashed a smug smile, but Gabriel’s face went pale. Clearly, he hadn’t expected to find me at the hotel, especially looking so casual in a tank top and sweatpants.
