Chapter 9
“Sweetheart, you didn’t sleep at all last night, did you? You saw the news, right?”
I kept my face buried in my father’s chest as I mumbled, “Dad, I was scared for you…”
Dad suddenly let out a hearty laugh. “Silly girl. I’m perfectly fine.”
I hadn’t noticed Holden standing behind my father. He looked at Dad’s back and said in a solemn voice, “Mr. Lavirins, we’ve located the men who hurt Miss Aurora. How would you like to proceed?”
“Kurt’s flying in today, right? Have him bring those bastards back with him. All of them.”
Holden nodded and walked away.
Dad looked down at me, my face damp with sweat.
“Aurora,” he smiled, “your new life starts now.”
