Chapter 0091
Nick’s POV
“He still won’t wake up and now the doc said he’s gone into a coma!” Jake announced with a
scowl.
“Well, tell the doctor to drag him back out then!” I replied.
“That’s not how it works, alpha,” Rich said. He stood glowering at me with his back leaning against my office door.
“I need to know who sent them!”
“Yeah, and finding out would’ve been a breeze if you hadn’t torn them to shreds like that!” The gamma countered.
“I left one alive like Jake asked. He just needs to wake up.”
Even as I argued with him, I knew he was right. I should’ve gained control of my wolf sooner. Now two of the rogues were dead. The third one could join them any moment.
Ignoring Richard and Jake’s reproving stares, I went on, “It’s got to be a Forest Mooner. When we spoke on the phone, he said “the other one,” wants them sent far… away…” I trailed off as we all went quiet.
We were each thinking about the same people. It was Jake who broke the silence.
“Chief Alaric does not play like this. Neither does your mom, Nick. Elise wouldn’t go this far. Not when her grandpup is involved.”
True! Everyone knew my mother was cruel. But my friends knew she was not inherently evil. Not to her own flesh and blood and she knew for sure that Alex was that. She may try to get rid of Sara but would never harm the child.
“That leaves two!” Richard supplied.
“Megan and Cassandra! Out of whom, only Megan knows.”
“She’s under the spell of your command plus she doesn’t have the resources to pull this off on her own. We already established that,” Richard said.
“Maybe she had help,” Jake said.
“But she can’t get help without telling. And she can’t tell, not till the news is out in the open,” I
muttered.

“I’ll head back to the city and take Miss White into custody,” Richard stood straight.
“Not without proof. You just said she doesn’t know, Nick. We have to assume that for now. Her uncle is a member of the council. We need to tread carefully,” Jake said.
I picked up my glass of vodka and poured it down my throat.
My phone started to ring again at the same time. It was Cassie.
I would’ve ignored it if not for the new development. So I picked it up and slid the answer button.
“Hey.”
“Hey, alpha,” she said, her voice cool and normal.
“You were out of town all weekend. I was hoping you’d be back today. Maybe you’re ready… to talk?”
“How did you know I’m still away?” I asked.
“I spoke to Damon.”
“No, you didn’t!”
My assistant kept me posted with every single detail, no matter how unimportant.
The line was silent as I waited. Surely, she was thinking of a lie.
“Okay, you caught me. I have a friend on the top floor,” she said.
The Top floor was a Reign Towers‘ slang. It meant my office plus all the departments in Reigns group that I related with directly.
“What’s their name?”
“I’m sorry I can’t tell you that, alpha,” she replied.
“I can make you,” I said with a gentle voice.
She must’ve mistaken my tone for flirting because hers grew teasing too as she replied,
“So do that. Come here and make me do what you want, alpha.”
“Okay.”
I hung up. Jake and Richard were looking at me in a strange way.

“Well, I guess flirting the truth out of her could work too,” Richard remarked.
“It’s wrong to eavesdrop, gamma, but you have a point. I need to speak with her face to face,” I said.
“Cool. Bonny is in charge of resort security for now cuz Oak is indisposed. Lindsey and her partner have combed this town and the next. No sign of other pack members or any other werewolf here. Except for the commoners,” he assured.
“This place was supposed to be clean. Rogues have no use for half bloods or omegas. Those lots avoid the woods like a plague,” Jake mumbled.
