That was my son’s jacket between the man’s fist. I knew he had come with a message, so I tried to reign in on my rage. But I couldn’t help it. I wanted him to feel pain for being involved. As I pushed him, Richard and Gerrard appeared in an instant to stop me from doing further
harm.
I watched as the man went down, bouncing a few times on the rocky floor. A small tree stopped him from rolling farther away from us.
Gerrard, Rich’s guy, stood in front of me to prevent me from going to the man.
It was Richard who went close, pulling him up by his shirt’s collar.
The small piece of fabric that was my son’s jacket laid a few feet away. That was how he had lured me here. Was this a trap? I wished to Goddess that it was. My claws and teeth needed some good work. Gerrard tried to stop me as I reached for the cloth. I shoved him aside and bent to retrieve it like it was precious and breakable.
“Who are they and what do they want?” Richard asked the man gently.
“If he triples the offer, they’ll give him the girl and the kid,” the young man replied.
Blood now trickled down the side of his face as he spoke.
“Who’s they?” Even as I asked, I already knew the answer.
Rogues! The man wouldn’t know them as such but the three of us did. Those trash didn’t strike unless within the forest. If they did came out into town on broad daylight to kidnap a werewolf and her pup, someone definitely paid them to do it.
“Three s–scary men,” said the boy. “They say they can get more from you than the one who sent them.”
He reached in his pocket with shaky hands to fish out a rumpled piece of paper. Richard snatched it from him and handed it to me without taking his eyes off the cockroach.
Fifteen million cash for each of the merchandise. Cash drop point: Beneath the elm tree in
Fairview.
“Who sent them?” I asked, staring idly at the text in front of me.
My sight was blurry from rage. Gerrard was sweating from the fumes of my rage as he stood ready to delay the young man’s demise.
“I d–don’t know, I swear. They paid me two–fifty box to make sure she didn’t take a random

cab a–and another two–fifty to give you this message,” he said.
“And now you’ll lead me to them!” I said.
“They’ll kill me, sir,” the boy pleaded.
I moved closer as Gerrard followed me. The man’s gaze met my mine for the first time and he peed himself.
“Don’t you think you should fear me more than them?” I asked him. Gerrard was a fool. I couldn’t kill the man, not yet. He knew this but still stood between us.
“You will lead me to those three piece of garbage. Then I’ll consider letting you live,” I said.
The messenger nodded frantically as I directed my gaze back to the paper in my hand.
“They won’t be at Fairview,” I thought aloud.
“That’s right. They’ll send someone to pick it,” Richard remarked as he rose. “I’ll handle it!”
“No! I need to get my hands on them,” I groaned.
“I’ll bring them to you, alpha,” he urged.
“No! I’m coming with you.” I didn’t wait for his reply.
Another forty–five minutes passed before we made any headway.
We were now at the town where the man believed Sara and the child were being held.
Sebastian was with me in the cheap, smelly motel nearest to the woods. He sat tensed on the stool and shaking his legs. I tried to recall why I ordered him brought with us but couldn’t remember. The room was a dump.
Richard insisted it was the best place to stay for cover. But everything was getting on my
nerves.
Sara and my son were in the hands of rogues. I went into the bathroom to spit for the millionth time as that thought played in my head. I wanted to hit something. Someone. My gaze settled on the older male again.
“An old male, biting their fingers! I see where Sara and Alex got the bad habit!” I grumbled.
He seemed to realize what he was doing and stopped. Then he lifted his gaze to give me an evil look. At the same instance, my phone rang, causing the two of us to jump.

It wasn’t Richard like I expected. The number was strange, but I knew who it was.
