Chapter 0203
It was 6:39 PM. I had been waiting for forty–six minutes. Nasir had texted that the girl was lingering inside her office building after work. She was deliberately making me wait, wasn’t
she?
I looked around the restaurant. It was fuller than the last time we were here. If only we could meet at Reign Resort instead of this hotel.
For the millionth time, I sent out my senses to scan the lobby. She was just walking in at the
same moment.
As she approached the restaurant, her presence grew stronger with each stride. It filled the vast space, enveloping me in its feminine warmth.
Her nervousness and eagerness to see me were palpable, even though she seemed so composed. This discovery accompanied a tingle in my chest. I wanted to call out to her through the mindlink but decided against it. It was better to be careful with all sorts of
intimacy.
She found my seat as soon as she walked into the restaurant.
Still avoiding my eyes, huh?
Well, I was upset, and she was anxious. At least, we were both feeling stuff, so life was fair. Inspite of these thoughts, I yearned so much to ease her worries.
“Hi,” she breathed, settling herself on the chair across from me.
“Would you like something to eat? Or drink?” I asked. “Although, I doubt you’re hungry. You had such a big, nice lunch, yeah? With Jet.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but I didn’t give her the chance.
“Did you get my email? I didn’t forget to send the copy you asked for this time.”
The waiter arrived briskly at my signal.
“Tell him what you’d like.”
I wished she wouldn’t delay one second. I wanted to deal with what was bothering me and be
done with it.
“Water’s fine,” she replied gently.
The waiter had barely gone when she began.

“Look, I know why I’m here. I crossed the line last night. I wasn’t myself, that’s why. I’m sorry.”
Sorry? She regretted kissing me because Mister Royal was making a move, huh.
“It won’t happen again. Although you participated one hundred percent, I’m not entirely to
blame.”
Did she expect to me apologize too? I clenched my lips, afraid of what might fall out of my mouth if I said anything about that sensual moment that we shared.
Avoid all talk of last night for now. Deal with the more pressing issue.
“I wanted to talk about the agreement. You probably missed this part. I needed to show it to you.”
I put my phone on the table and thrusted it her way.
“Look at the parts with the yellow highlight. It says that we’re NOT allowed to have sexual relationships with anyone else during our contract.”
She watched my lips as I spoke. A thrill travelled down my stomach. Was she recalling last night like I had been doing all night and day?
“All the marriage rules you know of? They apply to us, Jane. You can’t date other men.”
“But you can see other women?” Her voice was sharp and accusing.
It confused me. “I said it applies to us: You and me. That means I can’t date too until this is
over.”
“Oh yeah? You got a phone call last night. I know it was from a woman, Jake.”
“What?” I gave a brief laugh.
Was that why she got so upset and nearly fell on her face?
“I took a few calls, yes. None of them were from a woman, wife. Listen, if you lose your current job, don’t start a psychic business. You’re bad at it.”
“I’ll let myself in. See you soon?” She arched her brow. “That sounds very much like you were talking to a woman. I’m not dumb.”
“Oh, wow. You mean those words could only be said to a female?
That call was from my brother, Richard. We occasionally share a suite below the penthouse these days. Nick and Sara need privacy when she’s around. And she was there last night. They make a lot of noi…” I exhaled deeply.

Why was I even explaining myself, revealing my Alpha’s bedroom habits. I did nothing wrong. She was the one who went on a date.
Granted, I had thought of getting some action soon. But I hadn’t done so till now.
But I have to. Soon.
There’s a reason the contract said “sexual relationship” and not “sexual encounter.”
The devil was in details and if the tables were turned, I would’ve argued that it was a one–time sex, date, or whatever. Not a “relationship.”
The girl wouldn’t know enough to look at such details. That particular clause was meant to protect me when I let off steam with other women.
And I will soon.
I’d stood up Alice, Belle, and Chloe. And Misha this past week. But that’s because I was busy setting up this arrangement with her. Not because my wolf wanted no one else. I was in charge. Not the beast. And the next time I made an appointment to f*ck someone, I was going to honor it.
I watched as she drank the water, feeling her mind relax. That little information I just shared must’ve worked magic. I couldn’t help the feeling of gratification that spread through my
chest.
But had she really thought I went to another female with that hard on? If so, the girl’s mind was amazing. I didn’t mean that in a good way.
“So what I’m saying is, you were wrong to do what you did this afternoon. You broke one of the most important rules,” I went on.
“Just like last night when I kissed you,” she said.
It felt like she was daring me to do something about it.
Maybe I would, but in my own time. Once my head was clear.
“I called you here so we could address today’s error. You can’t date other men, yeah? Till this
contract ends.”
“Got it,” she replied. “Anything else?”
She sagged her shoulders and crossed her arms on her chest.
Why did she seem upset? Did I say something bad? It couldn’t be because of my whining,

could it?
I decided not to ask. I’d given her a piece of my mind. That should do for now.
I had other business to attend to. There was a lot to handle in Forest Moon and Reigns Group. We were going into battle in a matter of a day or two. The Alpha’s mating ceremony was now public news. Invitations were floating about, and the rite would hold at the first appearance of the waxing crescent moon. I had to check on the preparations.
There was also Rowan’s trial, which was being pushed because Elise was tied up. Lily’s twins chose to be born at such a time as this. All of these things meant that everyone was busy,
especially me.
“I should also tell you that I’ll be out of town a lot this week and next,” I informed her.
