Chapter 0183
Avery POV
That was a foolish thing to say, especially because it made my jealousy as plain as day. I meant every word about ripping that male apart the next I saw him.
It’s the damn mate bond.
Aylin stopped and just stared at me. She looked so confused. That made the two of us.
Why was I in such a rage? Was this how the bond worked? I hadn’t even touched the girl. Didn’t know what her lips felt like. Although I could vividly imagine.
We both understood that we didn’t want this, so why was acting like I had a claim?
A harsh knock sounded on the door. Richard stuck his head inside.
“Time’s up!” His eyes glinted as they settled on me briefly.
F*ck, he knows.
Why the hell would she tell him? Wasn’t she ashamed to be associated with a lone, half–blood werewolf? The confusion in her eyes mirrored my own now.
Finally, she exhaled in defeat, then started to leave the room.
All I could see in my mind’s eye was her underneath that male, giggling in delight as he did things to her. She was returning him, wasn’t she? I balled my hands into fists.
The ache inside my chest was so acute that I looked down at myself to see if I was actually bleeding.
When I tried to move, my skin made contact with the part of the chains coated in silver. It burned like hell. That pain was better. It distracted my body from the fire within.
“It’s not allowed, Aylin!” I groaned. “You’re not allowed to be with him until we are done.”
There. I said it.
I waited for her response. But she didn’t even glance my way till she reached the door. Then, giving me a dirty look, she said,
“You’re locked up and in chains. That means you can’t do anything about my dates.”
“Dates? What do you mean dates? Like multiple?”

If she heard, she gave no indication. Walking out, she slammed the door shut, leaving me alone with all the turmoil.
I decided I had lost control of myself. Because of what? The mere sight of my mate laughing with another? That male was more fitting and deserving of her.
How could I have attacked him like that? I did this to myself. I was back in the custody of Forest Moon’s Chief Warrior. The fact that I was aware I had lost my mind was no help.
I still imagined the two laughing, kissing, doing the deed. And the thought made me want to lay hands on Mister pretty boy once again.
Just one more time.
The worst part about being locked up? I would have to face one of the two people I dreaded talking to the most. Elise or the Alpha himself. I glanced at the window again. It didn’t take a genius to know that those bars were silver–coated, if not pure silver.
This place was a temporary cell for werewolf criminals. More proof that Orphic Valley was now Forest Moon’s territory. I needed to get out of this room.
The fact that I wasn’t even worried about what would happen to me was disturbing. I still hadn’t come up with a lie for the silly trial I was bound to face.
The only things my brain could work out right now were the different things I could do that wolf the next time we meet. Images of the two, playing in that brook, were an assault. I didn’t realize I was groaning out loud till someone banged at the door.
“Keep it down or I’ll come in there and shut you up, you got it?”
I knew the voice. That was one of Sara’s gamma. Wasn’t he supposed to be guarding her?
Oh, right. She was with the Lord of them all. Her mate. Just as Aylin should be with me. It was the normal thing. The will of the Fate.
But here I was. In prison. While she left to comfort the guy, no doubt. That was wrong. But was it? We had an understanding, didn’t we?
These voices in my head were a roar. I was grateful for the interruption when I heard the heavy hoovebeats behind the window. I knew the instant the person shifted as the
hoovebeats turned into footsteps. The sound grew distant by the second. Which meant they were going around to use the front door.
Moments later, I heard whispers in the hall. Which was followed by beeps, and the lock began to disengage. The beta walked into the cell in casual strides.

As soon as he stepped foot inside, I could immediately tell that he saw his sister. Or at least, he knew for a fact that she had just left here.
I was intrigued to hear what she told him. Or what he’d learned. Did she tell him that we were
fated like she did Richard?
“Did she wake up before you got her home?” The beta asked.
For a moment, it felt like he was speaking an unknown language. Then I recalled that we’d both found Jane walking into the woods tonight. The incident, which happened mere hours ago, felt like a different lifetime now.
“Did she?” He repeated.
“Why do you wanna know? What’s your business with Jane Brown?”
“If I were you, I’d worry about how much trouble you’re in right now. You attacked Kyle Atlas. Care to explain why?”
“I didn’t like his face,” I replied simply.
“Why? Cuz of Aylin?” He chuckled, amusement dancing in his glittering blue eyes.
“She thinks you’re obsessed with her. I told her that can’t be right because you’re still dealing with the Sara thing.”
I couldn’t help the snicker that escaped my throat. So that was the lie she came up with?
“She said that? That I’m obsessed with her?” I laughed again.
“You’re laughing? There’s nothing funny about what you did, Rowan!” The beta snapped, his eyes growing hard.
“You nearly killed the male. Do you know what kind of trouble you’ve caused for the Reigns?”
It sounded like he was scolding me. My anger rose again.
“I don’t give a f*ck about the Reigns. Or the pack. Or you, you hear me? If your people had stayed in the city where y’all belonged, everyone’s life would be less complicated.”
“Complicated how? Are you talking about your obsession with my sister or with Sara?”
I sat back on my chair, deciding that this conversation was over. I would ignore him and everyone else from now on. Time to really get my head right and think of how to escape this cell.
“Why did you attack him? I need something to take to Nick!” He sounded bored now.

Chapter 0183
The Alpha hasn’t heard yet?
I considered begging him to keep it that way. Was it possible? Would he be willing to keep this from his Alpha? Another look at his face, and I decided that was a negative.
Exhaling in defeat, I replied,
“I already told you. I hate the guy’s face. And if I see him again, I’ll pick up the fight from where we left off.”
“Wait, you are serious. You’ll attack him again. Do you know him before today? Cuz I’m starting to think Aylin was right. This really was about.her.” He frowned as he watched me.
I kept a straight face, not daring to blink or offer any reaction to the remark.
“Ah well, whatever,” he sighed.
“Just know that you’ll be taken to the city tomorrow to stand before the Council of Warriors.
Oh, and your mommy’s on her way. Hopefully, she’ll get you to tell us why you want to rip that male apart.”
