Rowan must have gotten the girl back home by now. Was she safely on her bed at this moment? Maybe she woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. I wish there was someone to call and find out.
Jethro’s tale grew interesting, and my attention slowly zeroed in on him. It was not news that the former Luna Chase of the Golden Crescent did not give birth to him and his brother. However, everyone thought it was a case of surrogacy. That the female’s womb was too weak to carry her children to term.
We were learning that that story was false. His dad was, in fact, fated to the orphaned omega that gave birth to him and Alpha Derek.
The difference between our Sara and his mother was the fact that Nick stood up to everyone and was now about to make Sara his Luna.
His father, the former Alpha of his pack, didn’t have that courage. His mother had to live as a breeder when the elders found out that they were fated. She bore him two sons.
Even though she lived in their house as the Alpha’s breeder, they were a happy family when no was watching. Until Alpha Lazarus came to tear them apart. He offered his dad a deal, part of which meant that his baby sister, Thelma Kai, would be his Luna.
Being a relatively small pack, his dad, Alpha Rudolph, had to take any hand that was offered. Especially if the hand belonged to one more powerful. Like the Night Storm.
Alpha Rudolph mated Thelma Kai, who became the Luna of the Golden Crescent. When she couldn’t bear a child, the elders and everyone else blamed the Alpha’s breeder. To avoid getting on Alpha Laz’s bad side, they kicked his mother out of the pack.
“My father was a people–pleasing coward who couldn’t protect my mother,” Jet gritted.
“She died when I was five years. Of a broken heart! Far away from those who loved her.”
“Is that why you refused Alpha training? You didn’t want to rule the pack if something happened to your older brother?” asked.
Alpha Nick also wanted to know, but he would never ask at this stage. He wouldn’t want to seem sympathetic to the guy just yet.
The male’s response was a deep breath as he lowered his head.
“I’m wholly on your side, Alpha Nickolas. Your courage and strength are boundless! Admirable. And the truth is, your mother’s request comes second. I’m here on Alpha Derek

Chase’s orders. Your sister’s mate sent me to offer any assistance that I can. If you’re going against the house of Kai, we’re both with you 100%. Let me race into battle beside you.
I didn’t get alpha training, but I was trained as a warrior. Anyone who tries to come against your fated home is my enemy and my brother’s. We’re in–laws, after all. We’re family!”

Alpha Nick decided that Jet Chase and his best friend, Clove, could remain in the town. For now. But, as he rightly suggested, they had to stay out of sight of the people of the Forest
Moon.
They would guard the woods alongside other warriors as the Luna originally suggested. Of course, we would keep an eye on them, even though he didn’t sense any threat.
Oak appeared to show the two to their separate rooms. As they started to leave, Jet said to
me,
“That girl. I feel like I’ve seen her before.”
“What girl?” Nick asked with his eyes on me. “The drunk, half she–wolf?”
I didn’t dare look his way. My peripheral vision told me that he might be gauging my reaction.
“Yeah, that one,” Jet replied too eagerly.
With all of my might, I maintained an expressionless face, silently praying that he would walk out without saying another word.
That prayer went unanswered as the male spoke again.
“Could
you give me her number, maybe? Or tell me how to reach her. I have to see her again. I need to confirm if we know each other-”
“You don’t know each other!” I snapped. “Also, she’s a Forest Mooner. Are you shirking the rules already? You’re not supposed to interact with any of them!”
“The elites,” he countered. “I’m not supposed to interact with the elites, the elders, and their children. That girl is half–blood. I doubt she falls in one of these categories. Right, Alpha Nick?
