Chapter 0162
Sara POV
“Jane, are you alright? You seem distracted.”
‘And jumpy.‘
We were sitting across from each other at Molly’s diner.
“Okay, I’m about to tell you something. Do not freak out and do not look,” she began.
“There’s a guy sitting near the window in a navy blue jacket. He’s following us.”
I knew who she was referring to but couldn’t stop myself from turning in Archer’s direction.
“Don’t look. Damn it,” she grumbled.
I let out a deep breath, once again, wishing that she knew about her other side. If she did, she
would know that the male could hear her loud and clear.
“Sara, he’s following us. I’m sure of it. This past week, I have seen him around the office, your
dad’s truck, and now, here.”
She shifted nervously in her seat. I had a good guess for why she seemed anxious and irritable.
Last night was a full moon. Maybe she had the usual nightmares. Or another eerie episode of waking up on the kitchen floor.
.“And he’s from the city. I’m sure of it,” she went on. “Maybe New York? That is a $4000 jacket,
gurl. There’s something weird about him. I’m getting the creepy Hannibal Lecter vibe here. One thing my mother always say: You’re a woman. Trust your instincts.”
She stole another glance at him. “He could be a serial killer. Or human trafficker.”
I stopped myself from rolling my eyes. When I glanced at the warrior, he was doing just that.
“Jane, Relax. That’s Archer. Alright?”
She frowned. “Who? And did he just roll his eyes?”
Uh oh. She couldn’t possibly believe he heard her, could she?
“His name is Archer,” I said. “He’s with me. Nick asked him to follow me around. There’s two of them. His partner is waiting outside.”

Her mouth hung open as she stared at me.
“Oh.” Then she turned to stare shamelessly at the warrior. “But why?”
“Because Nick’s a big shot, Jane. And I’m his… woman,”
I shrugged, putting the straw in my mouth and sipping on my apple juice.
I’m his woman. It felt great to say that aloud. I was Nick’s female. And I could tell anyone I wanted.
“You’re smiling,” she remarked.
“You’re staring,” I replied without looking at her.
She was not the only one staring at me.
Two werewolves had just walked into the diner. Male and female. I could tell that they were elites. At least one of them was. The way she moved and the haughty manner in which she tilted her chin was a given. The other one was her guard. A warrior.
The she–wolf reminded me of the blonde in the photo with Nick. Both had the same air about them.
Her eyes were on me as her guard motioned for them to sit a few feet away. These were not city Mooners.
When I glanced at Archer, he sat erect, eyes fixed on the two.
“I’ve been meaning to tell you all morning. You look different,” Jane said, dragging my focus ‘back to her.
At the same time, Lindsey burst into the diner, glared at the two newcomers, and went back
out.
“I am different,” I replied Jane with a wink.
I was not wary of the strangers at all. Instead, I was intrigued by their presence. Like the Mooners breezing in and out of town, maybe they were here to peek at me and my child.
That didn’t bother me anymore, especially after last night.
My little one was still trending both in the human and werewolf world, especially in the latter. Everyone was curious about his mother. The Mooners knew who I was. After meeting the Night Storm Alpha, I expect other ally packs to know, too. Soon enough.
This one was probably here to assess me.

“So you and the gorgeous big shot are back together then?” Jane asked.
My reply was a smile. She didn’t return it. Something caught her attention a few feet away.
