It was past 11 PM when Nick pulled into our driveway. Shadows moved among the trees beyond our house. They were his warriors.
I felt him scanning the place and mindlinking the guards as we got out of the car.
Moments later, we entered the humble living room. Lorenzo and Janice rose to their feet at the sight of the Alpha. The former was casually dressed in his sweatpants and sleeveless shirt. He nodded as Nick said something to him through the link.
My dad stood by his bedroom door, watching us.
“Hey, Sebastian. Could we talk for a minute?” Nick said. I arched my brow in question.
Just male talk, Sweets,” he winked.
Because of my dad’s mild OCD, I was sure his bedroom would be tidy. Yet I couldn’t help feeling weird as the Alpha followed him inside. Our house was nothing like he was used to. I remembered him calling it a hole not long ago.
A gentle squeak sounded behind, disrupting my thoughts. I heaved a sigh, knowing who it
was.
“He’s been asleep, Miss James, honest. I bet he sensed the two of you come in just now, that’s why he woke up,” Janice explained.
As I turned around, Alex stood by his door, peeking into the living room. I went to him, lifted
and carried him back to bed.
“It’s almost midnight, baby, c’mon.”
“Where’s daddy?” he asked groggily.
“He’s talking to grandpa. C’mon, lie down.” I laid him on top of the bed and began to tuck him. in again.
“Grandpa said daddy had to feed you. He said you’ve been hungry and didn’t eat because daddy was far far away.”
“That’s true. But daddy has fed me now, so I’m fine.”

I kissed my son’s cheek. “You should be sleeping.”
“Can I see him? Please, mommy,” he begged, then broke into a smile as the Alpha’s presence

filled the little room.
Seconds later, Nick sat behind me on the tiny bed with one hand on my waist. The urge to lean into him was so strong that I had to move.
“My alpha prince’s still awake, huh,” he said. “Why’s that?”
“I waited for you,” Alex replied. “Mommy can eat now. Grandpa said she couldn’t eat cuz you were far away.”
“That’s right. But I’m back. And she’s well fed. Aren’t you, my Sweets?”
He dropped a light kiss on my shoulder, then on my bare neck before moving to my ear lobe.
‘Nick, not in front of him,’ I complained, my whole body tingling at the light touches.
He ignored me as his hand on my waist was began a soft caress. I made to get up but his grip kept me there.
“We came to say goodnight, little wolf,” he said as his breath hitched.
His fingers grazed my bare flesh beneath my blouse, causing me to jerk. I forced myself out of his grip and rose from the bed.
“So you won’t go far away again?” Alex asked.
“Never. I’ll always be with you two. Now, back to sleep.”
He readjusted the sheets on the child and kissed him on the cheek.
“I’ll see you soon, okay?”
Alex nodded excitedly. “And we’ll ride on the aeroplane.”
“Of course, we will.”
Minutes later, as he followed me into my room, I said,
“You can’t touch me like that in front of our son. It’s inappropriate.”
“No, it isn’t,” he frowned. “I didn’t get you naked in front of him, Sara.
Look, he’s only ever seen us fight. It’s great for his mental health if he sees me loving your from now on, don’t

I couldn’t argue with his logic. Plus I was all too aware of him.
He stood only one foot from my bed now. As if he heard my thought, he seemed to realize

My room had never felt so small. The Alpha took up the entire space. When his eyes returned
to me,
the air became charged. He started to move closer when I stepped back.
“My dad is few feet away and you have guests waiting at the resort,” I warned him.
But that was more to get my own head right.
He nodded, then dropped a chaste kiss on my lips before backing away.
“You’re moving to mini mansion tomorrow. Your father agreed. He understands it’s safer to have guards within the house whenever you’re home. It’s not convenient to do that here.”
He waited for my reaction. I waited too, but I couldn’t feel upset about the quick decision without me. If anything, it was refreshing that the decision was out of my hands now. I’d been so unsure of what I wanted. Maybe he sensed it.
A larger house with guards and a live–in nanny was something I could quickly get used to.
“Okay,” I said.
He smiled. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I’ll call and you’ll answer.”
“Oh, isn’t that against your rules,” I joked.
“You make the rules now, Sweets. And I’m at your beck and call.” He advanced again, eyes on my lips as he spoke.
“So you will take my calls from now on.”
Those words made a lot of sense because he uttered them in a seductive whisper.
“Yes, Alpha.”
I lifted myself on tiptoe to meet his lips. Soon, he was kissing me deeply as he whispered,
‘My Sara,‘ into my mind.
If I didn’t end the kiss now, things would get out of hands. I started to pull away. It seemed like he wouldn’t stop, but soon, he released me and started leaving quickly.
‘I better go now. Let me know when you’ve written anything down,‘ he said.
I nodded.
