Sara POV
“You should be with Lily. Why are you here?”
The Alpha’s voice assumed its usual tone. The type that made you flinch if you were on the
other end of the conversation.
“I had to come. It’s important,” Elise replied, matching his tone.
Then she switched to mindlink as her eyes moved from me to him.
“Ah, I see,” Nick replied aloud. “And I’m supposed to sneak in my house because?”
Elise pursed her lips, displeased that he wasn’t talking through the link. As she glared at him,
I knew she was still speaking into his mind.
“Thanks for the heads up, mother. This is good, in fact.”
Looking down at me, he said,
“There’s someone I’d like you to meet.”
“Nick, you’re being rash!” Elise warned. “I doubt she’s mentally ready for things like this.”
He ignored her and switched to mindlink.
‘I’d like to introduce you to someone. Alpha Lazarus of the Night Storm. Have you heard of
him?‘
‘They’re Forest Moon’s ally. I know of him,‘ I replied.
‘He and my late father were close friends,‘ he said.
‘Nick, the Luna’s right. I don’t think I’m ready,‘ I said nervously.
Goddess, I had been so lovestruck and hadn’t thought about this part of being with the Alpha.
What? I had to meet that male? Now?
‘Sara, look at me,‘ Nick commanded.
He tilted my chin up and lifted my hand to his lips. I could almost hear Elise rolling her eyes at the sight.
‘Nick, we just made up like what? Two, three hours ago?‘
I still felt inadequate and wasn’t ready to be seen with the Alpha. I was wearing a simple

jeans and top inside Nick’s fancy jacket. The omega in me wanted to run away.
‘It’s no big deal. He’s no big deal,’ Nick assured.
‘Listen to me, Sara. He’s just another alpha. Your male is one too, remember? I am Alpha of the Forest Moon. And I’m here, holding your hand.‘
His voice in my mind was an antidote for my anxiety. I started to relax as he spoke.
‘Now show me. How do Lunas greet another Alpha or older male?‘
I moved a step back in the cramped elevator and genuflected.
‘Good. That’s exactly what you’ll do. Never lower your head in submission. He’s as old as your father, but that’s it. He’s NOT your Alpha. He’s NOT superior to you. You are Luna of the Forest Moon. I need you to keep that in mind always.‘
I nodded, glancing the senior Luna’s way. She seemed bored as she waited for us to speak
out.
‘You must look him in the eye no matter what,’ Nick added.
‘If you don’t want to do that, keep your eyes on his forehead or eyebrow, understood? He would try to intimidate you. Don’t let him.’
‘Okay,‘ I nodded.
‘He’s in the lobby. Ready?‘ He asked.
“Yes,” I replied.
‘He pushed the open button as Elise began to speak.
“This is a mistake, Nick. Alpha Laz is pissed. Imagine how he’d feel seeing you two together.”
Ignoring his mother, he urged me ahead of him and followed behind.
The vast lobby was scanty with a few guests checking in or out. A few security guards and bell boys hung about the place.
As an unspoken rule, Werewolves didn’t enter other’s territory except they were invited for an occassion. Ally or not.
When they did visit, their dealings remained with the elite and prominent member of the packs.
As a result, I never met any member of the Night Storm when I lived in the pack.

However, I knew the Alpha the moment I caught sight of him. And not because Jake stood with the male.
This werewolf is here because of me and my son.
I had no doubt. Elise’s words confirmed it too.
He must have sensed us as his gaze shifted in our direction.
A heavy–set older male with silver hair and black eyes stood watching me and Nick as we approached. He nodded at whatever Jake was saying to him, but his eyes remained on us.
“Ah, here he is,” Jake said with a smile.
“Alpha Lazarus. What a surprise!” Nick greeted.
“Hello, Alpha Nick. Luna Reign. I was right. It was you I saw hurrying into the lift.”
“Hello, Alpha of the Night Storm,” Elise greeted.
“Alpha Nick, you must’ve been quite busy. I’ve tried calling you throughout the weekend but couldn’t get through.
A troubling rumor has been flying around. It’s got me restless.
So I came out here to put my feet up and tour this little town for a day or two. Imagine my shock when I learned that the place belongs to you now. What a welcome coincidence.” He gave a soft laugh. “This town yours, kid?”
Nick gave his signature fake smile.
“Yes. Orphic Valley is Forest Moon’s extension now. One of many. And you’re welcome to “put your feet up” here as long as you need.
By the way, I don’t believe you’ve met Sara, my mate!”
His hand left mine and went round my back. I braced myself to speak in a calm, clear voice. Like Elise or another noble female would do. Lifting my chin high, I made my shoulders were straight.
“Pleased to meet you, Alpha Lazarus of the Night Storm. I’ve heard a lot about you,” I said, genuflecting the way I’ve seen Megan do.
