Chapter 0149
I expected him to sit back after the surprise kiss but he didn’t. Images flashed in my mind. Him, sweeping the dishes off the table with his large hand, lifting and setting me on top of it
to claim me right there.
When he started speaking again, I watched his lips, unable to look anywhere else.
“Let’s not talk about tomorrow, Sweets. I don’t want you to think about anything else when
you’re with me.
But let me just say this quickly. If you don’t quit that job soon, I’ll make him fire you.”
Another kiss followed. Deep and slow this time. It ended too quickly. Then he sat back.
“So we’re back to threats then,” I breathed, picking up my fork and shaking my head.
“Somethings just don’t change.”
He laughed briefly, taking my free hand to press kisses on my palm.
“It’s no threat, my sweet love. I told you I’m a changed male. But c’mon, that half–wolf can’t be your “sir” anymore. No one should ever order you around.”
“No one but you, huh?” I laughed. Giggled.
“No one but me,” he breathed in my palm.
“I thought I get to give the orders from now on,” I reminded him.
“Exactly. That’s why I can’t let anyone be your boss anymore. Now, eat, please,” he gestured at the plate in front of me.
His tone was so seductive and playful that it invoked a strong sense of dejavu. Except we weren’t naked yet.
In the past, I only had the occassional pleasure of enjoying this side of him during sex. Or between recess.
“How come you’ve been around all weekend until now? My dad said you’re a regular at his place. He’s not complaining though. Says you leave a huge tip. Also, city Mooners are starting to fill the town. I see them all around.”
I tried not to sound worried about the last bit. Maybe I failed.
“Don’t worry about pack members. They won’t dare bother you,” he replied.

I wanted to lie that I wasn’t worried, but it was no use. I hated to ruin the beautiful evening with such concerns, so I quickly got the topic back to pleasant matters.
“You’ve been here all weekend and today.”
“You know why I stuck by, Sara. I’ve been following you around like a stray puppy, begging you to feed me.” He sighed.
“Thank you for finally showing mercy.”
I swallowed another huge bite from my potatoes and unwittingly breathed in satisfaction. As
I lifted my glass of wine, the Alpha began rushing his meal. 1
“Are you okay? Should I send for more?”
I could tell he was asking just for the sake of it. He knew I was full.
I shook my head. “I’m okay.”
He snatched his glass from the table and gulped down its content, then rose as he breathed
in satisfaction.
“Time for desert.” His tone was flirty.
Finally.
Pulling my chair back, the Alpha lifted me swiftly into his arms and carried me to the bed.

.Two hours later.
I laid spent from Nick’s fervent lovemaking. As I started to doze off on his chest, he ran light fingers on my arm, making me relax deeper into him.
My phone chose that moment to ring. I recalled the plan to return to my dad and Alex tonight.
“Must be my dad.”
“You don’t have curfew, Sara, seriously,” Nick complained.
“But I have to get back,” I argued.
He gave a defeated sigh as I scrambled off the bed.
Moments later, with my arm in the crook of his, we headed to the elevator and made our way
downstairs.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you about kinkbane,” I said as we entered.
“What? You like the high?” He joked, then leaned close to softly bite my lower lip. “I can make you get that hot and high, Sweets. You don’t need the mad drug.”
I was already high and beginning to get hot again.
“Nick, stop it,” I giggled as he kissed my neck. “I just want to know… who did that to me? Was it your mother?”
He stopped and raised his head.
“No. It was Megan.”
I was not shocked at all. Even though I had nearly forgotten that she existed.
“But why?”
Oh, I knew why. There was only one reason why she would do that.
“You know why, Sara,” Nick repeated my thought aloud.
“It’s all my fault. How scared and confused you must’ve been when the drugs took effect.” His tone grew calm and loving as he smoothed my cheek with a gentle thumb.
This side of him was still a beautiful surprise that I needed to get used to.
“Such things won’t ever happen to you again,” he went on.
“When I’m away on business or pack matters, there will be people watching over you and our son. You’ll both be safe always. I promise.”
I nodded.
“Her plan backfired,” I said with a laugh.
“An epic failure,” Nick remarked.
He was laughing now, amused by how that attack worked out in our favor.
“Thanks to your mother.”
We reached downstairs and the elevator began sliding open. As I redirected my gaze forward to step out, the Luna stood in front of us.
For a brief moment, I wondered if my words conjured her up.
“Mother!”

Nick looked as surprise and flustered as I was.
Elise rushed into the elevator before it closed again. Nick’s grip tightened on my hand.
“Where the hell is your phone, Nickolas? Not important now. Don’t go through the lobby. Not
with her,” she said to him.
“What are you doing here, mother?”
