Chapter 0141
Monday of the Full Moon.
Mid morning.
I took the day off from everyone and everything to spend time alone.
It was the day of the Full Moon. Sara had ignored all of my calls and texts since she got back to town. She would wait for me in the woods later at dusk. How I ached to hold her again.
As I stood in line at Sebastian’s food truck, I reminded myself again that she was meeting me willingly because she anticipated a rejection. Not to listen to whatever I had to say.
There were two people in front of me now. The plan was to get coffee, say what I wanted, then leave. That was all. The same plan I had on Friday and Saturday when I’d come here, waited in line, got my coffee, and left without saying anything.
My one problem was the fact that I knew what Sebastian’s reply would be. I dreaded hearing it, but I had to do this. Leaving without saying the brief words I prepared? That was not an
option anymore.
As he served the woman in front of me, another customer arrived. I let them cut in line
because I didn’t want anyone behind me when it came to my turn.
As usual, the older male was pretending I was just another customer.
“What can I get you?”
“The usual,” I replied. Moments later, he handed me the cup.
I took a sip, followed by a deep breath. Here goes.
“I’m sorry, Sebastian.”
It looked like he wanted to speak. I wished he wouldn’t. I was sure I wouldn’t like what he had
to say.
“I’m
sorry about hurting your daughter four years ago. A few weeks ago too. And all those other times that I messed up.”
“Does that mean you’ll release her?” He asked.
There it was. The question I didn’t want him asking me. How did I reply without sounding rude? I was trying to make things right here.
“She’s my mate, not my prisoner.” I tried but couldn’t keep the edge from my voice,

He shook his head in irritation. Like he meant to ignore me from now on.
“She doesn’t want to be your mate. She has been in constant battle with her heart since she got back, and it’s killing her, Alpha. If you’re sorry, release her.”
I wanted to point out that it was killing me too. But there was no need. He could see how haggard my face looked. Everyone could. At least, Jake and Richard confirmed it.
“I came here to make amends about the past,” I said simply.
“I have nothing to say that you’d want to hear,” he replied.
That was true. It would be hard to get him where I wanted when Sara wasn’t there with me yet. I paid for the coffee and left.

Afternoon.
Sara’s break time was soon, and she wasn’t working at the project site today. So I decided to
drive around the town for a little while.
A few minutes of aimless driving, and I reached an intersection. The street on the right led to Sara’s office. And the junction happened to be the sergeant’s duty post. Or so it seemed since
he stood near the road in his uniform.
I slowed the car to corner into the street, leading to Sara’s. Our gazes met. His eyes glinted with hate as he regarded me briefly and looked away.
I still couldn’t believe that the male and I were half–siblings. That part of the last few days was something I had unintentionally ignored. All of my thoughts were on my female.
Within moments, I zoomed past Sara’s office, did a u–turn, and drove back to wait near her driveway.
Who knows? If she came out and saw me, she could run towards me with open arms. Like she was meant to. It’s what any female would want to do to her mate. And maybe this time, Sara wouldn’t be able to stop herself.
I knew it wouldn’t happen. I trained that out of the girl even before we began four years ago. The agreement I made her sign meant she couldn’t talk to me in public.
A male could dream, I thought. So I sat in my car with my fantasy till it was her break time.
Sara was the first to emerge from the building. I considered calling out her name. To go to her and try to talk, I was so unsure of myself.

But she sensed me as soon as she reached her car, gave me a single glance before getting
inside and driving off.
Her mind was set. She anticipated twilight more than anything else.
I felt her deep sadness as she talked with the sergeant in front of that ice cream shop. She was truly sad that it hadn’t worked out between them.
My heart gave a painful twist. Did she like him that much? Did she feel for him what she felt for me years ago? That wasn’t possible. We were bonded again.
As she returned to her office, I went back to the resort to wait for her call. I couldn’t do anything useful for the rest of the time.
