Chapter 0133
Avery Hawke
At the sound of the Luna’s voice, the girl stopped abruptly and lowered her head.
“Hello, Luna Reign.”
At the same time, Avery felt brisk footsteps rushing towards them. He expected guards. But it was the Alpha’s own beta and gamma who approached.
“Aylin!” The beta called out. “When did you get back? Wait, did he touch you?”
Then he pointed a warning finger at Avery as he added,
“If you’ve touched her, I will crush you! I will KILL YOU.”
His gaze moved to the Luna as if only just realizing she was standing there. He frowned, then looked away, eyes moving back to Miss fisticuff.
Was she his girlfriend or mate? Or sister?
“Luna,” the gamma bowed.
“The Alpha would not be pleased. This man, I mean male, is his prisoner. He hasn’t given orders to free him yet.”
“Are you sure?” She asked with an edge. Richard seemed confused.
“Sergeant Hawke, Mae will escort you to the airport immediately.”
“With all due respect, Luna, I can’t let him leave till I confirm from the Alpha,” Richard stated.
Avery wanted to speak when he sensed the people coming out of the mansion.
Little Alex was the first to emerge. The child grinned and waved, calling out,
“Un…cle.”
Then his hand went to his mouth, biting his nails as his eyes darted to Jake. Then he turned around to look at his father.
Yeah, Alpha daddy must’ve warned him not to call him that.
Avery’s heart sank fiercely as he and Sara’s eyes met. Why the fuck was she dressed up? The three looked like the picture–perfect family.
“Sara,” he called out softly.

She didn’t respond. Instead, she turned around and whispered,
“Nick, you promised you freed him.”
“I did free him,” Nick replied. “Mother, we had a deal. You said you’d get out of here. immediately!”
“That’s what I’m doing. Sergeant?” She glanced at Mae, who approached Avery.
“This way, sergeant,” the female warrior said.
But Avery’s eyes were on Sara. She seemed uneasy as she began to approach him.
The Alpha’s scent was tangible around her, and it wasn’t because he walked slowly behind
her.
Avery imagined punching Nick repeatedly in the gut.
What did all of this even mean? Why was the kid here? Did they live here now?
“Fate! Oh my Goddess,” someone gasped.
It was Miss fisticuff. She had one hand over her mouth in shock as she stared at the little boy.
“Is that…” she couldn’t finish the question.
“Aylin, go inside,” Jake commanded. “I’ll meet you soon.”
She ignored him.
‘So… brother and sister then, not lovers.‘
That was not relevant to his current situation, so he redirected his gaze to Sara – the female he’d come here to rescue. He’d entered the beast’s den for her sake. That meant he had to
leave here with her no matter what.
“Are you alright?” She asked him gently.
He was about to reply when his eyes fell on her neck. A mark?
“What the hell is that on your neck?”

Sara POV
Avery’s question came with a snarl. Nick’s low, animalistic growl resonated behind me in
return.

The Luna was speaking and so was the beta.
“Everybody calm down.”
“Aylin, I said go inside!”
Why did Nick follow us outside? Our brief talk had been interrupted by an “important call.”
He was in a Zoom meeting when Alex and I came downstairs. Did that already end?
He promised that Avery was free. But what were these people doing here? The Luna and her gamma. Richard. Even Jake and his little sister. They all looked ready to skin the sergeant
alive.
I looked at Avery again. He appeared to have been roughed up. But the only physical injuries were bruises on his jaw and cheek.
“What’s that on your neck?” He repeated, followed by a furious groan.
“You forced her!”
I felt a fleeting fear that he meant to attack me when he raised his hand. But his eyes were
behind me. On Nick.
Richard and Aylin lunged at him as if acting on instinct. The former caught his wrist and swept him off his feet before he could strike.
“Aylin, the beta said to get the f*ck inside. Are you deaf?” Richard snapped.
She stepped back, smirking at the sergeant who bared his teeth at everyone.
“Let him go, Richard,” I pleaded.
He ignored my plea as he spoke softly to Avery, who was now confined to the floor, lying flat on his belly.
“You could die here, half–blood. Is that what you want?”
“Avery?”
My voice seemed to pull the sergeant out of his rage. His fangs retracted as his gaze settled on the visible mark peaking out of my collar.
“W–what is that?” he asked again.
But it was clear that he already knew what it was.

“I’ll explain everything,” I replied. “Richard, let him go!”
“Let him go, gamma. The pup is watching,” the Luna ordered.
Her tone was firm and threatening. Everyone turned to her.
She was right. Alex was staring in open–mouthed horror. He looked like he would soon start crying.
“Mae will take it from here. I already told you,” She added.
But Richard was waiting for Nick’s command. He restrained Avery to the wet lawn with his large arms and knee.
I looked up at Nick. He stood, watching the sergeant with an expressionless face.
