Chapter 0122
Sara POV
Sunlight poured in through the window of the palatial chamber, forcing me to wake up. Memories of the previous day rushed in as I slowly opened my eyes.
I considered going back to sleep to put off the day. It felt like I was soaked in the Alpha’s
scent.
The ache between my thighs was oddly delightful. A contrast to yesterday’s torment. My head and entire body were as light as a feather. Like I was a different person and everything had been made new.
Nick was gone. He was not within a mile of the house.
I’d felt it when he slipped out and was half–glad that he wasn’t here now.
Memories and evidence of last night surrounded me as I rose from the bed. Breakfast sat near the middle of the massive room. The smell was divine and I was hungry.
Glancing around for a clock, I found one on the wall. It was past 8 AM.
“Alex,” I rasped.
The panic that we were both late disappeared as soon as it came. My son wasn’t here. His school and my office was nowhere near here. I was in the Reign’s mansion.
I rushed out of the bed, but a soft knock sounded as I reached to open the bathroom door. Two omegas came inside. They looked familiar.
One of them rolled in a hanger stand lined with clothes.
“Good morning, Miss James. We’re here to help you get dressed for the Alpha,” the older one
said.
Her voices invoked memories of the Luna and how I arrived here yesterday.
Nick and I hadn’t had the chance to talk, but I knew from his reaction that he truly didn’t send
his mother to fetch me.
“Where’s the Alpha?” I asked.
“We’ve come on the Luna’s orders and have waited since 7 AM outside the door,” she replied.
The Luna was serious about that pleasure handmaiden nonsense huh?

“Tell her I don’t need help.”
But I needed the fresh clothes, so I reached out and grabbed the first dress and jacket that I could.
“We’re supposed to-”
“I can wash up and get dressed on my own!”
The Luna’s words returned as I headed to the bathroom. “You belong to the house of Reign.”
I shook the scary thought off. Nick wouldn’t.
When I emerged again, the hanger still sat near the walk–in closet. The girls were gone.
I quickly got dressed before deciding to call home. Luna Reign had sent a note to my dad before dragging me away. How did he take the news about me being the Alpha’s fated mate?
More importantly, how do I face him with this mark on my neck?
I opened the door to go use the phone at the grand lobby and came face–to–face with Lindsey.
She gave a slight bow that shocked me
“Good morning, Miss James.”
Maybe there was a strict rule to be courteous to any she–wolf that shared Nick’s bed.
Would she address me with such respect if she knew me from when I lived with the pack?
Surprisingly, the other two girls still waited outside the door.
“You’re in my way,” I said calmly.
“Tell me what you need and I’ll have them get it to you, Miss,” Lindsey reply.
“Please, step aside. I need to use the phone downstairs!”
“The Alpha said you would need a phone when you wake up. So he asked me to give you this. You can use it till he gets back.” She handed me an iPhone.
“Am I not allowed to leave the room?”
“The Alpha wants you to wait for him right there. He said he’ll be back soon.”
I snatched the phone from her and went back inside.
Mrs. Bright was the first person I called. I needed to hear my son’s voice.

The teacher’s number went to voicemail. So I immediately dialled Nick’s.
I held my breath as I put the phone to my ears.
“Hi,” he cleared his throat.
