Chapter 0107
Sara POV
“I’m not engaged.”
I refused to think of that little announcement. It had nothing to do with me. There’s nothing
between Nick and I. Except our son, of course.
You belong to me.
I did. A long time ago. Before you rejected me and literally ripped my heart out. I don’t belong to you ANYMORE.
I fell asleep at some point in the night. The whole event of the evening followed me into my
dreams.
In that reality, my dad interrupted the marking rite with his bowl of ice cold water on our faces.
But he was too late. Nick already completed the deed.
After marking me, he carried me to his penthouse and claimed me over and over again.
With every touch of his lips, with each thrust, the words, You belong to me – You belong with me, rang in my mind. They were a low growl echoing all around us as he devoured my soul.
A nightmare! Not a dream.
The feel of a child, climbing unto my bed caused me to wake with a start.
Nick’s dreadful declaration resounded in my mind even as I opened my eyes.
Alex settled himself beside me on the bed. He liked to do this sometimes. Leaving his room to spend the rest of the night with me or my dad.
“Daddy left last night,” he whispered in his sleepy voice.
“I know, baby,” I murmured.
“You called his name. Don’t worry, he’ll be back.” He snuggled closer.
“Oh… yeah.”
Goddess! Was I screaming the Alpha’s name in my sleep?
How mortifying! My dad must’ve heard me if Alex did.
I let myself believe that he didn’t. I didn’t yet know how to face him after what he saw last

Dawn came soon. As expected, my dad’s face was hard as a rock when I joined him in the
kitchen.
“I was a little drunk last night,” I said.
“I hope so! You know he’s engaged, right? I sent you pictures. Plus it’s all over the net. Wolve- net, that is,” he replied.
I caught myself before saying he’s not!
“He’s picking Alex up tomorrow. Can you deal with him, please? I don’t wanna be near him unless it’s necessary.”
My dad’s face softened at the request.
“Sure,” he said with a gentler tone. “Look, Sara, you had his child, so I know it’s not easy for you. I mean he’s Alpha, isn’t he? Powerful. Entrancing. Irresistible. At least, to most. I don’t blame you for last night.
“I’m just glad things didn’t get out of hand.”
I nodded. “Me too.”
It meant so much to hear him say he didn’t blame me.
“I’ll deal with him whenever he’s picking Alex up from now on,” he said firmly.
I ignored the Alpha’s calls that morning. If he had an explanation for his behaviour last night, he should send a text not try to call me.
Avery. I had to see him. It was better to apologize in person. Especially since he hadn’t picked up when I called late last night. He had every right to be upset.
We were having a good time before Nick showed up to ruin everything. It was the first time since my college days that I felt relaxed. Young again and wanting to get together with a
male.
All morning, I’d caught myself imagining how different things would be if Nick had marked me. I hated the butterflies it caused in my stomach. I needed to put the kiss out of my mind in order to keep hating him in peace. I had a boyfriend for Goddess‘ sake.

As I dropped my son at school, I drove straight to the police station to see Avery. I didn’t know if he’d be in the office or the field. At least, they would let him know I looked for him.
Nick’s minion was behind me. Another one kept watch at Alex’s school.
Checking the time, I decided it was impossible to get to work on time, so I called my boss.
“Didn’t think you’d come in today, anyway. I heard about last night,” he said.
Avery was his nephew, so of course, he heard. No matter how much Beta Jake tried to make sure words didn’t spread, people would whisper about it.
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m good. I’m sorry for causing trouble, Jeremy,” I told him genuinely.
“You bore a child for Forest Moon’s Alpha. So it’s expected, Sara. Whether you like it or not, your life has changed. You can fight it for as long as you can, but you know I’m right,” he replied.
“I didn’t ask for any of this,” I complained. “He doesn’t even want me. He just wants to ruin my
life.”
“I… don’t know about… that,” he said hesitantly. It felt like he had more to say but would
rather not get into the discussion.
