(Celeste’s POV)
Before I could even cry out, Nina’s wolf exploded forward, transforming mid–step into a streak
of silver–gray fury.
Her powerful body crashed into Scarlett before anyone could react. Her fangs sank deep into Scarlett’s forearm, ripping through flesh with brutal precision.
Scarlett’s piercing shriek filled the corridor. Bright red blood sprayed across the moonstone
floor as she stumbled back, clutching her arm.
“Nina!” I rasped, the sound barely escaping my scorched throat. But Nina didn’t stop.
Before Scarlett could recover, another figure entered the chaos. Grace, Scarlett’s personal guard, lunged with all the force of her position. Her wolf sprung mid–leap, tackling Nina into
the ancient pack tapestries that lined the hallway.
The tapestries tore with sharp, jarring ripping sounds as both wolves crashed heavily against
the walls.
Then it began. A vicious brawl.
The corridor echoed with snarls and growls sharp enough to make even the pack guards hesitate. Nina’s silver–gray fur twisted and flashed as she fought Grace. Claws slashed. Teeth
sank into fur and flesh.
Nina’s movements were brutal and unrelenting. Through their tangled fight, I could see it–her
rage wasn’t born of duty alone. This was personal.
She wasn’t merely following orders. She wasn’t just my guard. Nina was protecting me with everything she had, pushing her own battered body far beyond its limits.
Scarlett stumbled back deeper into the corridor, her emerald eyes wide with shock. Her wolf whimpered dramatically, the sound loud and attention–grabbing.
The perfect sound to summon an audience.
Heavy footsteps signaled their arrival before I even saw them. Alexander and Lucas appeared from Eleanor’s chambers, their authoritative auras flooding the space.
“Sister!” Lucas’s voice was a mix of fury and panic as he rushed to Scarlett’s side.

Scarlett immediately leaned heavily on him, her hand clutching her still–bleeding arm. She looked up at him with trembling emerald eyes, the perfect picture of a wounded lamb.
“She attacked me,’ Scarlett whimpered, her voice shaky and weak. Her wolf let out pathetic
little cries as she raised her injured arm for Lucas to see.
She angled it just enough to make the deep, vicious bite marks clear to everyone in the corridor. Blood dripped steadily onto the moonstone floor, each drop loud in the tense silence.
“I… I just wanted to help Celeste walk,” she added weakly, her voice trembling as perfect tears
formed in her eyes.
Lucas’s golden eyes darkened instantly. His wolf surged with protective fury, and I could almost feel the rage boiling beneath his skin.
Alexander lingered further back, his icy gaze sweeping across the scene. He didn’t rush to Scarlett’s side like Lucas had. Instead, his piercing blue eyes fixed on the fight still raging
between Nina and Grace.
His face remained cold and unreadable, but his white wolf stirred dangerously. I could feel it,
waiting beneath the surface.
Nina tore into Grace with unmatched ferocity. The corridor seemed too small for the level of violence now filling it. Grace’s tan wolf struck back, her claws tearing into Nina’s side with
brutal force.
But Nina didn’t stop. She fought harder, her body twisting and slamming into Grace with
unrelenting power that defied her injuries.
I forced myself to take a step forward, ignoring the fiery protest of my silver–burned body.
“Nina, stop!” My voice was weak and broken, but I tried.
Before she could respond, Lucas’s roar filled the air, shaking the very walls with its Alpha
power.
“ENOUGH!”
Both wolves crashed apart under the sheer force of his dominance. They shifted back into
their human forms mid–air, landing heavily on the bloodstained moonstone floor.
Nina’s side heaved with exertion, blood pouring from the gashes Grace had left on her torso.
But she remained upright, her silver–gray wolf still bristling protectively.
Grace was slower to rise, her gaze flicking nervously toward Scarlett for reassurance.
Scarlett’s trembling form confirmed that Grace would receive no blame.

Lucas’s fury snapped back to Nina immediately. His golden eyes burned as he strode forward. “Forty silver–laced lashes,” Lucas snarled, his voice low and venomous. “For attacking Scarlett.”
The guards moved instantly, obediently closing in around Nina.
My heart lurched painfully. I stepped forward before I could think, planting myself between Nina and the advancing guards.
“By what authority do you punish my guard?” I demanded, my voice hoarse but firm.
Lucas stopped mid–step. His wolf pressed forward aggressively, filling the space between us with its dominance. His eyes burned golden with Alpha authority as he glared at me. “She attacked a member of the main family!”
“And?” My response was sharp and immediate, cutting through the tension like a blade. “Does that merit death through silver poisoning? Or is this excessive because the ‘victim‘ happens to be your precious sister?”
I saw his jaw clench tightly at my words. His wolf surged again, towering over mine with aggression. But I didn’t back down.
Through the fading connections of our pack bonds, I felt it. His anger wasn’t just about Nina’s actions. No, his rage was deeply personal.
This was about something more.
She had chosen to defend me. Not spy on me as he had ordered when he first assigned her to my side.
The guards hesitated, glancing at Lucas for confirmation. But I could see it in their faces–they knew the punishment was far harsher than the crime.
Lucas took another step forward, his body tense with raw energy. “Move aside, Celeste. Don’t make this worse.”
The words sent a sharp surge of bitter amusement through me.
“Worse?” My laugh was cold and jagged. It hurt to laugh, but I couldn’t stop it. “Do you mean like staying silent when Victoria handed me to Marcus? Or worse like cheering when I was sentenced to Moon Shadow Prison? Remind me, Lucas–how exactly did you make things better before now?”
The tension in Lucas’s body shifted ever so slightly. His wolf hesitated, recoiling faintly at the weight of my words.

Despite his anger, even he couldn’t deny the truth.
“I’m trying to help you now,” Lucas growled, though his voice shook slightly beneath his rage. “I didn’t know… I didn’t know how far things would go!”
“Didn’t know?” I repeated, my voice like ice. “You knew. You’ve always known. You didn’t care then. Why should I believe you care now?”
His golden eyes flickered uncertainly. For the first time in our confrontation, I saw a c***k in his wall of fury.
Nina’s bloodied form shifted slightly closer to mine. Her gaze remained locked on the guards, her silver–gray wolf still bristling with defiance.
“She saved me,” I said quietly, looking directly at Lucas. “You call her a threat. But unlike you,
she stood between me and danger. She didn’t look away while I suffered.”
Lucas’s head snapped up, his golden eyes blazing again. “Don’t-”
“Don’t what?” I interrupted sharply. “Don’t speak the truth? Does it sting, Lucas, realizing how easily you abandoned me when it mattered most?”
I saw him recoil, his wolf pressing flat against his fury.
But Scarlett saved him the trouble of answering.
Her voice chimed in from behind him, soft and shaking, the perfect melody of false
victimhood. “Sister… please. Don’t say these things. Lucas is only trying to… to…”
Her emerald eyes shimmered with fresh tears, interrupting herself perfectly for dramatic
effect.
I refused to acknowledge her. My attention remained locked on Lucas.
“Take your guards,” I said coldly, every syllable sinking like stones into the silence around us.
“Take Scarlett. And get out of my way.”
But the guards didn’t move without Lucas’s order
