Chapter 39–The Reception

I glanced over at my husband..oh my gosh..Jamie is my husband. I can’t believe I can say that now. I saw his eyes darken as he slid his palm across my thigh before scooting my chair
closer to him.
“If you keep looking at me like that my beautiful wife, I might be tempted to take you up to that
room right now.” He muttered against my ear before kissing me softly.
I felt my heart leap into my throat as I turned while staring up at him intently..the connection I
felt with Jamie was so strong, that it was hard to look away.
“Mr. Sinclair, we are ready for the first dance now.” Rebecca suddenly stated while popping up
next to Jamie.
This whole time we had been sitting up on a stage as people came by to wish us their
congratulations.
I had never met so many people in my life I swear..a few I recognized from Daddy’s work but
that was like four people..
Regina, Cecelia, Katrina, and Grandma Georgia didn’t even bother coming up. I think Jamie
might’ve told them not to, which was okay with me.
I also don’t think he knows about what happened with the dress yet..which I wasn’t going to
tell him until after. I don’t want it to ruin our night..I just want Jamie to be happy and he seems
to love this dress anyways.
He has been checking me out all night…
I swear I haven’t seen this side of him yet..before he seemed so in control but right now I can
see the desperation in his eyes. I think the anticipation of tonight is getting to him.
I just feel nervous. I mean..we have done a lot of stuff, but I’m worried deep down that what if
I’m not any good at doing the main thing.
“Come on my beautiful bride.” Jamie spoke softly, his hand extending out as I took it eagerly.
I saw the lights dim, and my heart started to race as I bit my lip anxiously, I felt everyone’s eyes on us, the room growing warmer as nerves flooded my stomach
I know we have been the center of attention all evening, but I guess the whole time I was in my
little bubble with Jamie and there wasn’t a literal spotlight on us…

Jamie rested his palm on my back before taking my hand in his.
“Just look at me baby..it’s just you and me remember?” He whispered, doing that mind–reading thing as I nodded my head before letting out a slow breath.
We didn’t really rehearse this part..but I used to dance with Daddy back when I was younger, so I didn’t feel nervous about that.
“I love you.” Jamie whispered while bending and kissing me softly.
That’s when the music started to play..it was a song I heard on TV during a movie we watched last week. It’s called Dandelions by Ruth B, but this one was an acoustic version.
I really loved it and even looked it up on my phone afterward..I couldn’t believe he chose this one. I let out a gasp the moment Jamie started to move. I felt butterflies rush through my stomach as he stared down at me intently.
“You look breathtaking baby..the moment I saw you walk out, that will be a moment I never forget for as long as I live.” He confessed, his feet moving flawlessly as I felt like we were dancing on air..and that’s when everything disappeared again..all that remained was my husband as his honey brown eyes peering into me.
“I think after this it’s time to leave, don’t you agree?” He asked in a husky tone, making me nod my head as someone suddenly tapped on my shoulder.
“Bunny, can I cut in?” My dad asked..I didn’t even realize we were on a different song now.
I saw Jamie stiffen before his mother approached him, our eyes still locked on one another as
our parents took over the dance.
“Are you happy sweetheart?” My dad whispered, drawing my attention away from Jamie
momentarily as I looked up at him before smiling widely.
“I don’t think I have seen you so happy.” He added, his hand gripping mine tightly as I nodded.
“And hearing you speak..Bunny..I’m so proud of you.” He started to choke up as I wrapped my arms around his waist and hugged him tight.
“Sweetheart, I asked Rebecca about the dress..” He suddenly stated, making my eyes widen.
“We will get to the bottom of it okay?” My dad stated as I looked up at him sadly. He still has
no clue..
I pulled back, before lifting my hands and signing to him.
“Daddy, I don’t want to ruin your night. But I know who it is..you do too don’t you?” I signed,
watching as his eyes darted to where my stepmother and half sisters were sitting.

“It’s okay, things will be better now Daddy.” I signed, and went back into his arms.
I felt him stiffen beneath me as we continued to dance, his face turning solemn as another
person walked up.
Robert extended his hand out, making me smile at him softly before turning to Daddy and
giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“I love you Daddy.” I gave him one last message, seeing him smile sadly before stepping back.
“I love you too Bunny.” He whispered, and walked away, heading towards the table where the rest of our family was sitting.
“You my daughter in law might just be one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. Well,
the second most beautiful.” He whispered while stealing a glance at his ex wife.
I smiled up at him knowingly..I think Robert might still be in love with her..
“Don’t give me that look..or you might make me say something I could regret.” He muttered,
making me chuckle as he suddenly spun me around. He was happy..like really really happy.
The alcohol on his breath tells me that might be playing a big part on his good mood.
“You know..I always wanted a daughter of my own..to spoil her and treat her like a princess.
So be prepared to fill that role.” He whispered, causing me to slap him on the arm playfully.
Robert is a lot smoother than I thought he was. When I first met him, I expected him to be
ruthless and serious all the time, but he actually is a lot more playful.
“Perhaps my first grandbaby will be a girl.” He added, making my cheeks redden..just the mere
mention of babies made me blush for some reason.
Before Robert could speak again, Jamie came up to us and gripped my waist, stopping us
mid–step.
“If
you don’t mind, I would like to steal my wife back for the rest of the evening.” Jamie stated
bluntly, not seeming to have any shame as I looked up at him with wide eyes.
“Of course, you two have a wonderful time. There is much to celebrate..” Robert winked as I
swear I had to be as red as a tomato now..
That’s when Jamie grabbed my hand and began pulling me off of the dance floor.
“There she is! Can I get a dance with the..” Rylan began while walking towards us and Jamie
just blew past him.
“Sorry, too late, she is mine for the rest of the night.” He stated, not even bothering to stop as
he dragged me beside him, weaving our way through the crowd.

Once we exited the banquet hall, Jamie took me towards the elevators and pressed the button roughly. Those dark eyes stared down at me with such intensity it made my knees wobble.
When it opened, he quickly pulled me inside and smashed his lips to mine, kissing me with wild abandon as he pressed his body closer, showing me just how ready he was for this.
“I can’t wait another second Gabriella..I need you..I need to be inside of you or I might just go
insane.”
