I lifted the phone above my head, making sure I had a signal as I quickly typed out a message
to my best friend Rylan.
To Rylan: Text me if you get this.
I sent, waiting impatiently as my brow furrowed and I turned over in bed.
From Rylan: Yeah..what’s up buddy? Are you coming out with us for once?
He responded immediately, making me feel even worse..
I glanced at the time, it was now 10:15 p.m. and she hadn’t texted me back yet. I mean..I know
she is probably busy..or maybe she didn’t want to…
The moment her dad told me she didn’t have a cell phone, I was f*****g baffled. I mean..I know
she can’t speak..but she could still text her friends or something..
I knew the Kensington’s were odd, but this seems to go beyond what I imagined.
I did all the research I could..my tech guy Diego found a few gossip magazine articles and a
birth certificate…that was pretty much it.
Gabriella Kensington was hidden well..her name has not even come out to the public..so it’s
pretty clear that she was the family secret.
I don’t think John was the one who made it that way either..
From what I gathered at the party, a lot of people knew of Gabriella..but the things they said
about her were beyond gossip..it was toxic and hurtful.
They spoke of the illegitimate child and how she was a constant reminder of her father’s betrayal. They called her conniving and manipulative…things that if I hadn’t met the girl myself, I might’ve believed.
But then again..perhaps not considering I know Cecelia and had the “pleasure” of going out
with her a few times..
All she did was gossip about other women..women that my father just so happened to find
suitable for me to date as well..I don’t know how she got that information but she had some
type of dirt on every damn one.
It might seem odd that my dad was so adamant about me marrying a Kensington..especially
with John’s recent misfortunes business wise..but my dad reapected John. He saw how he

built a name for himself..one that was quite influential and popular in many countries.
Spark Enterprise was what my dad truly wanted to marry me into..because my dad knows
something John didn’t.
One of the wealthiest men in the world was about to invest in Spark Enterprise..my father
caught wind of it months ago..this opportunity would’ve changed John’s outcome..it would’ve
made him a billionaire over night..but John Kensington wasn’t aware of that..he believes he is
drowning..grasping at straws for any opportunity to keep him afloat..and my dad offered him
his hand.
But like my father says..we will both prosper from this outcome..I would be taking over
Sinclair Industries in three years if I produce an heir and my dad sits back and reaps the
rewards.
I let out another sigh as Rylan began spamming me pictures of him out at some club with
random girls and his younger brother Nolan.
That’s when I got another text, making me drop the phone on my face.
“Fuck.” I cursed, scrambling to pick it up before rubbing my nose.
Then I saw it..
From Gabriella: Hi
I smirked like a damn i***t before sitting up and staring down at the phone intently.
It was two damn letters..Hi..and yet my heart was practically hammering out of my chest.
I inhaled deeply, trying to play this cool as I typed out a message.
To Gabriella: Hey, glad to see you got the phone.
I sent, regretting it immediately..shit..what if she thinks I’m rubbing it in that I got her a phone?
Fuck..
From Gabriella: I love it, it’s so pretty…thank you.
She responded..and I kid you not..I kicked my feet like a damn schoolgirl and rolled on the bed
like an i***t, fighting the giggle that wanted to explode out of me.
What has this girl done to me?!
To Gabriella: You’re pretty… No..I can’t write that..I quickly erased it and went to type something else.
To Gabriella: What are you..How are you..You looked beautiful.. I went to type out and kept

erasing every damn message as I tried to figure out just what to say..
From Gabriella: Are you still there?
She responded..probably thinking I was ignoring her or something.
To Gabriella: Yeah, sorry..what are you up to?
I sent before letting out a groan and shutting my eyes. What are you up to? Really..that was
the best I could do?
From Gabriella: I’m lying in bed, my dad just fell asleep so I wanted to message you. We are at
a hotel.
She stated, making me sit up as my eyebrows furrowed together.
To Gabriella: Hotel? Is everything okay?
Why were they at a hotel? Did they travel last minute or something? Fuck..maybe I should
have someone watching the house..or is that weird..I mean..just to make sure she is safe.
No..that would be weird.
From Gabriella: Yeah, Cecelia was a little upset, so my dad said I should give her some space.
I had fun tonight though, well I mean it was nice to meet you..and stuff.
She sent, making me laugh to myself as I smiled like an i***t at the phone.
To Gabriella: I had fun too..and thank you for saying yes. I know this is weird and everything,
but it feels right, right?
I closed my eyes and hit send before throwing the phone on my bed and covering my head with a pillow.
This is so f*****g stressful..it’s worse than dealing with s**t at work I swear.
That’s when I heard the phone ping as I chucked the pillow halfway across the room and dove
for it.
I opened the chat and read it intently.
From Gabriella: Right..I think so too. Thank you for choosing me..I’m really excited to be your
wife.
My eyes widened before I blinked them heavily, rereading her message over and over as the word wife made my heart explode as butterflies took over every inch of my damn body.
Wife..she was going to be my wife. How can she say that so damn easily?
To Gabriella: I’m excited too..I want to know everything about you. What’s your favorite color?

I sent it just as another text came from Rylan.
From Rylan: Dude..you can’t f*****g text me and then ghost me..what the hell man?
To Rylan: Sorry, you have the wrong number. Stop texting me.
I sent before switching back to Gabriella as I read her incoming message.
From Gabriella: Hmm I like pink…and brown, like your eyes. What is your favorite color?
Seriously?! How the hell is this girl so freaking smooth?!
I bit my lip nervously before responding.
To Gabriella: I think you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. So I have to say
blue..favorite animal?
I sent, feeling like I could throw up as we continued to text for hours..
I learned she loved bunnies and she had a stuffed rabbit named Butterscotch which was
******g adorable by the way..
She said that her favorite food was pizza and she loved to go outside.
She always wanted to go to Disney World and loves to read..she was funny and cute and she
made me laugh so many times..more than I have ever laughed in my life.
I about lost it when she texted el oh el instead of lol or kept sending me random emojis and
gifs she discovered throughout the night.
I tried so hard to imagine her smile and the cute faces she would be making..and that’s when I
couldn’t take it anymore..
To Gabriella: Can you send me a picture? I really want to see you.
