CHAPTER 92: A Beautiful Family
Alaia
I sighed, floating on a cloud of love. I smiled, resting a pencil against my lips as I observed the
beautiful blue sky accompanying us that day. We had returned from the most incredible
honeymoon trip the night before. It had been wonderful, though I felt a small pang in my chest
knowing we had to delay our love and happiness for so long.
“Damn! You left so early today that we missed out on the gossip,” Tino said as he entered,
holding Noah’s hand. Ash was playing with Alana and a small stuffed animal. The night
before, Nick had stayed over with us, and our children had clung to us as soon as they saw us,
so we lay down beside them.
Tino sat on the couch in my office and let my baby run to hug me while patting the spot next
to him for me to sit. Ash went to get some snacks for them.
“How’s Mommy’s little prince?” I asked tenderly. Noah smiled and hugged me, melting my
heart.
“My sweet princess,” I said, receiving my little girl. I sat each of them on one of my knees and
held them close, inhaling their scent.
“Teddy bear, auntie,” she said to Ash, who handed her the stuffed toy with a smile.
“My little flower was destroyed during those days,” I inhaled and smiled.
Tino choked on a potato chip as he started laughing.
“Oh my God, my goodness! But what? That poor flower must have had a terrible time,” he shook his head, laughing. “I’d love to have one, but only if the hunk is the one destroying it,” he joked, and we continued laughing.
“He took me to a private island he bought for me,” I commented and sighed again, still getting used to the idea that there was an island with my name on it. I looked at my little ones.
“But, but, but what are you telling us?” Tino stood up, and Ash’s mouth was wide open. “I think
I’m going to faint,” he touched his chest, making me laugh. “What a beautiful love that man has for you. I’m calling Tony, I want one too!” He walked away from us.
“Girl, you deserve no less. You’ve got the whole happy meal,” Ash looked at me affectionately, and I thanked her when she came to hug me.
Tino returned from his call with Tony, and we continued talking about my incredible days on the island with the only man I had ever loved and would love for the rest of my life.

CHAPTER 92: A Beautiful Family
Ash and Tino had gone to the playroom with the children while I finished up.
I reviewed the progress of our work, which was going as planned. I received a report on the
projects Ethan and Alex Black were working on; the facilities were already completed. I bit my
lip, thinking about how I had planned to get Nick and the Garnetts out of the picture months
ago, something that no longer interested me.
The phone in my office rang, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Alaia, Mr. Quinn is here,” Ignacio mentioned.
“Send him in,” I replied, and the door opened after several seconds.
“Good afternoon, Miss Russell,” the man entered, wearing casual clothes.
“Good afternoon, please, have a seat,” I gestured to the chair in front of me.
“We’ve gathered all the information,” he explained as he sat down. “We have all the dirty
laundry on Killian Garnett and his company.” I looked up, knowing it had taken him months to
investigate as I had ordered when I arrived in the city and the contract issue began. At that
time, he had given me an idea of the not–so–clean movements and contracts in foreign
countries.
“You had told me that you would expose him when we managed to have irrefutable proof of
those contracts and movements. Here they are,” he extended the folder, and I looked at it.
“Is this the only copy?” I questioned, bringing the papers closer to me and looking up, waiting
for his answer.
“Yes, we only made one copy as you ordered,” he said, and I nodded.
“I want you to forget about this investigation,” I said, reaching for my checkbook. “This must
not come to light, under any circumstances,” I stated, signing a check for his fees and a little
extra.
The man looked at me with bewilderment reflected on his face.
“Is that clear?” I questioned, handing him the check. He looked at me and nodded, receiving
the paper.
“It will be done as you order, Miss Russell,” he said, standing up and extending his hand for me
to shake in a silent pact. I knew he was a man who could be trusted; he had been working for my grandfather for years and had proven to be completely reliable.
As soon as he left, I took the folder and decided to take it to Nick. I knew this would sink
Killian, but it could also sink Nick. He needed to know about it and make a decision on his
own. I would explain the reasons and what I had planned to do with that information. I hoped

it wouldn’t cause any conflict between us. I bit my lip at the idea that this might cause us
some trouble. I went to get the children, Ash, and Tino.
“What’s that you’re guarding so closely?” Ash asked, pointing at the folder I was holding against my arm.
“Don’t even ask, darling. It looks like it might explode if she lets it go,” Tino commented. He
said goodbye to me and the children, leaving us with kisses and hugs.

We got into the SUV while Ash and Tino left in the other car. Fashion Week, where they would
showcase their new collection, was approaching, and they were working hard on it.
I talked and played with my children on the way to the company, suddenly feeling nervous.
We arrived at our destination, and the bodyguards helped me with the children’s stroller, where
I left the folder in plain sight. We entered Nick’s building and went up to his floor.
We approached Kathe, and she looked up when she heard my babies‘ little voices. She smiled
and greeted us, helping me with the door to enter with the stroller. Nick was looking at
something on his desk.
“Daddy!” my children shouted from the stroller, making me smile. Nick’s eyes lit up when he
saw us, and he quickly stood up.
He kissed me deliciously quickly and bent down to pick up the children.
“My little ones,” he said, taking them in his arms while they clung to him. “You look beautiful
today,” he kissed them and took them to the couch. I walked behind them.
“I love these visits,” he said, looking at me and then at the children, who were distracted by
their surroundings after being pampered by their father.
They entertained themselves with some books from the table, and I glanced around the office.
Of course, Nick had made sure everything was for the children.
“Hello,” he moved quickly, came to where I was, and caught me in his arms to give me a kiss
that left me breathless.
I opened my eyes when he finished, and blinked, in love. We looked into each other’s eyes for a few seconds until the phone in his office rang, he looked at it and then at me, pressing me
closer to him.
“Go,” I whispered and kissed him. He walked to his desk reluctantly.
I walked to my children’s stroller to get the folder and bring it to Nick. I approached him; he
looked at the folder, and furrowed his brow, but continued with his call and made me sit on his
lap.

My love said goodbye to the person he was talking to and looked back at me. Before he could say anything, he kissed me passionately while wrapping his arms around my waist, making me forget even my name. We caught our breath, and all I could think about was being his again. The annoying phone rang once more, and Nick answered it, annoyed.
“Fine, tell him I’ll be waiting,” he said and ended the call.
“Come here,” he said and kissed me again, not caring that we were in the office. I laughed against his lips, loving him for who he was.
We looked at each other, and he caressed a strand of my hair. Suddenly, I remembered the reason for my visit and changed my expression to a serious one, which made him furrow his brows and look beyond my face.
“What is it?” he pointed to the folder on his desk.
I took a breath. “It’s something you need to review,” I took the papers and handed them to him. He was about to open the folder when the door opened.
“Nick,” an older man commented as he entered. “I’m sorry, I thought you were alone,” he
apologized, and I tried to stand up, but Nick wouldn’t let me. He held me tightly and gave me a crooked d smile. This sexy i***t, I thought to myself, but returned the smile.
“I’ll give you a moment, I’ll come back later,” the man said and turned around.
“No, it’s okay,” I loosened myself from Nick’s grip, and he reluctantly let me go.
“Abel, let me introduce you to my wife and my children,” he pointed proudly to the little people fluttering around the office and stood up.
“Well, you have a beautiful family,” he commented. “I thought that…”
“The wedding you witnessed wasn’t real, Abel. Alaia was, is, and will be my only true wife,” he
clarified, and the man nodded, looking understanding.
“We’ll go,” I kissed Nick. “Review the papers, darling. We’ll talk later,” I whispered in his ear, and
he caressed my back.
“My loves, let’s go home. Daddy will come later,” I called them, and they went to say goodbye
to their father. It took them several seconds to stop hugging him, but they finally decided to
come with me.
My husband helped me put them in the double stroller. I said goodbye cordially to Abel, and
with a kiss and an “I love you,” I said goodbye to Nick.

CHAPTER 92: A Beautiful Family
Nick
I watched my children and the woman I loved as they left my office, and my chest swelled as I remembered the day weeks ago when they called me “Dad.” The emotions were as vivid as they were at that moment. I recalled how my legs lost strength and my heart turned to jelly. It was a dream come true; it had been the most memorable moment of my life. They called me “Dad” as I had wished for months, and their mother returned to my arms. They had no idea how much I thanked Heaven that night. Finally, my days were no longer covered in shadows and darkness.
Abel moved, bringing me back to earth. Alaia and the children had already gone.
“What’s the matter, Abel?” I questioned, returning to my chair, and I noticed something in his
face that I didn’t like.
“Nick, they’ve discovered your grandfather,” he said with concern, and I looked up from the folder Alaia had brought. “A transparency committee has come. They have an ongoing investigation into Killian’s fraudulent contracts, and that’s dragging the company down. They’ve asked for you; they’re in the boardroom.” I clenched my fist and broke the pencil I was holding in my hand.
