CHAPTER 87: Make up for lost time
Alaia
We walked toward him, but the movements stopped. Nick picked up the phone to make a call
while I stood with my children, waiting for something more to happen. I silently prayed that it
would. I looked at Dominic’s face, but it remained impassive.
“Martin will come to see him soon,” Nick said, ending the call. I looked at him.
I approached to hug him. I couldn’t imagine what he might be feeling, especially when I was
overwhelmed with emotion.
“He’s going to wake up,” I said hopefully, caressing his beard. He nodded and gave me a quick
kiss on the lips.
I heard a soft exhale from Noah and saw him yawn. Alana did the same a second later.
“Oh, my loves,” I said, moving toward them to pick them up, but Nick stopped me and took
Noah instead. I looked at him, and we both smiled.
“Let’s go to my room,” he whispered. I let him guide me, bidding Dominic goodnight before we
left.
We entered the adjoining room, and I saw an enormous bed, similar to the ones we had in our
own homes. I looked at it.
“I like being comfortable,” Nick shrugged, and I let out a small laugh, shaking my head.
We took off the winter clothes from our children, who had fallen asleep as soon as we carried
them. I didn’t want to wake them.
I watched Nick move gently to cover the kids, and I fell a little more in love with him.
“They sleep like little bears,” I commented, and Nick chuckled.
“They’re the most beautiful little bears I’ve ever seen,” he said, walking toward me and stealing
another smile from me. He found my lips, and I welcomed him as my skin tingled.
“I’ll take a shower,” I said, stroking his chest. He showed me the way to the bathroom. I started taking off my shoes, and not long after, he entered with a robe in his hands.
We stared at each other in silence. I gathered the skirt of my dress and began to undress.
Nick’s eyes followed every inch of my skin. I revealed that I was wearing a tiny set of lingerie-
I had to be prepared.
“Damn!” he whispered through clenched teeth, and I laughed. “You’re a f*****g goddess,” he

said, grabbing me by the waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. In a rush, I helped him undress, and we stumbled into the shower. I wrapped my legs around his waist, and a second later, I felt a powerful thrust that made me shudder and let out a stifled moan.
“Oh, Nick,” I said, and I could feel the skin on his neck bristle. “We have to be quick, my love,” I said, feeling all of him inside me. His eyes lit up when he heard what I called him. He nodded and kissed me passionately.
His body began moving into me forcefully. I bit my lip to keep from making noise while Nick breathed heavily against my neck. As pleasure consumed us, I let myself enjoy him freely. I couldn’t have been happier.
My core tightened again and again with his thrusts. My nails dug into the skin of his shoulders as I moaned softly. After several minutes, pleasure surged through my entire body. I melted, biting his shoulder to suppress the loud moan that wanted to escape my lips.
“I love you,” Nick gasped, kissing my cheek and neck. I could feel him release inside me, and I
hugged him tightly, clinging to him.
“I love you,” I said, biting his lower lip. He smiled at me sideways, looking incredibly attractive. That’s right–I had fallen hard.
We enjoyed a short, intimate shower before leaving the bathroom. Nick lent me one of his
pajamas, which of course was enormous on me. He chose to wear only gray pants. His phone
vibrated, announcing a message.
“It’s Martin. Go to bed; I’ll be back soon,” he said. Even though I wanted to go with him, I had to
watch over the kids so they wouldn’t roll off the bed. I silently agreed and kissed him before
lying down beside our children.
I fell asleep from exhaustion. At some point in the night, I felt Nick settling in on the other side
of the bed next to Noah. He kissed my head and the kids‘ heads. I smiled softly and fell back
to sleep.
I stirred in bed and opened my eyes when I noticed that no one else was there. Surprised, I
looked around the room, but there was no sign of Nick or the kids. Fully waking up, I got out of
bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Nick had left everything ready for me.
I passed by Dominic’s room before heading downstairs. I wandered through the halls, following the sound of my children, and found them in the luxurious kitchen. Nick was preparing breakfast alongside a woman he introduced as the housekeeper. Another girl entered, and I recognized her as the one who had let us in last night.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you both,” I said to the women. They kindly smiled and offered their

help.
Nick was serving drinks to the kids while the housekeeper set the plates with breakfast on the kitchen counter. There was a large bowl of strawberries and small containers of them for the children.
I thanked them, and we sat down to eat.
We noticed that Alana was comparing her small plate of strawberries with the larger one a bit further away.
“That one,” she pointed to the bigger plate.
“Alana, sweetheart,” I said, and her big, lovely eyes looked up at me. It wasn’t possible for her
to eat all those strawberries.
“That one, Daddy,” she pointed again, looking at Nick. My chest fluttered, and Nick was visibly
moved.
“They’re all yours, my angel,” he said, almost breathlessly, moving the plate closer to her. I
widened my eyes at him.
“She won’t eat them all. My daughter will have anything she asks for,” he said calmly, winking
at me. He kissed Alana’s head as she grabbed as many strawberries as her little hands could
hold–which wasn’t many.
I watched to make sure my daughter didn’t end up in a strawberry coma when someone
entered the kitchen.
“Alaia,” a smiling Will entered and came over to hug me. Confused, I returned the hug. “I’m glad to see you here,” he said. My children noticed him and let out small squeals of excitement. He approached them with affection. “How are my favorite nieces and nephews?”
he asked, and they offered him some of their food. Delighted, Will accepted a strawberry and a
piece of toast.
“They’re the only ones you have,” my love commented, and his cousin laughed.
“They always will be, even if more come along,” he said, inhaling deeply. “I’ve got to go,” he said, checking his watch. Nick looked at him, confused. “You’ll be in good hands. There’s no longer any reason for you to want to slit your wrists,” he added with a grin. Nick snorted but approached him, shook his hand, and thanked him.
“I’ll see you in Los Angeles,” Will said, bidding us farewell before we could react.
We finished breakfast, and after getting ready, we went out for a walk. The sky was gray, but it
wasn’t raining. I admitted to myself that I loved cloudy days.

We strolled through a nearby park, holding hands with our children by our sides, just as it
always should have been. With my heart full, I savored this beautiful moment. Our kids
decided to let go and run ahead.
“What did the doctor say about your father?” I asked as we stopped, watching Noah and Alana
from a distance.
Nick inhaled deeply.
“The fact that he moved is a good sign. If it keeps happening, he might wake up soon,” he
said, sighing. I could tell he was excited but didn’t want to get his hopes too high. I closed my eyes, channeling all my energy into hoping it would happen.
“We should live together,” he said, caressing my face. I opened my eyes. “Make up for lost
time. Live our love. I want you to be my wife again,” he said, looking at me intently. I bit my lip
before speaking.
“That…” I trailed off, lowering my gaze. Nick’s body suddenly felt tense. He gently lifted my
chin with his fingers. His brows were furrowed, and I looked into his eyes before confessing
the secret I’d been keeping for days. “You’re still my husband, Nick.”
