CHAPTER 164: DARE TO LOVE ME Nobody Part 1
Loli
I watched the blond man I liked so much and hadn’t been able to get out of my head, even
though I’d tried. I didn’t know how to respond to what he had just said when I noticed he was
looking towards where Lorenzo was, who had seen us.
“No, you don’t care about me,” I shook my head. “It’s just that you stopped paying attention to
me and my silly attempts to make you even notice me, to realize I existed.” I confronted him
and saw him shake his head. “You miss my attention, not me,” I swallowed the knot of
emotions in my throat.
“That’s not true, Loli,” he spoke and tensed his jaw, taking a step closer while I took two steps
back.
“You made me feel invisible every moment I was near you; that can’t just change suddenly,” I
pouted because I couldn’t forget what I had felt during those times.
He fixed his gaze on me and then exhaled, lowering his eyes while his hands rested on his hips. “When you stopped looking at me when you stopped being that sweet and tender girl
who did what no one had done before,” he assured me, and I didn’t know what I felt.
“That’s it, you want my attention back, and when you get it, you’ll gloat over it,” I stated, and my
chest ached.
“No, of course not,” he said quickly.
“I can’t believe what you’re saying, Gavin. Just leave me alone, find a new fool who will die for
you and want your attention. That would solve everything.”
“Just let me show you that it’s not what you think,” he stepped closer to me, and my heart beat wildly, but I couldn’t expose it to him, not again.
“I don’t want you to,” I said and walked towards the car.
“Loli…” he spoke and followed me.
“Please stop this, I asked at the car door and saw him rub his face. I could sense his
frustration. Why hadn’t he given up?
“Who was he?” Beli asked, looking back while Gavin stared at the ground.
“Nobody,” I looked at him and then turned my gaze forward.
“He seems to be suffering,” his little brother stated.

“No, he’s not,” I said confidently and started the car to take them home.
I decided to walk for a while before going back home to my parents, and Gavin’s look and words replayed in my head. No, don’t you dare, Loli, don’t you dare believe what he said. I got home just in time for dinner, and I barely managed to eat.
“Daughter, let’s spend some time together,” my mother showed me the living room where my father was; we had finished dinner.
“Another time, Mom, I’m tired,” I replied. My mother nodded, and after kissing their heads, I
went upstairs.
I entered my room and found the beautiful bouquet Gavin had sent me. I approached and caressed the petals of one of the lovely flowers, sighed, and went to bed. I needed to sleep.
The next day…
“I’m ready,” I told my mother and grabbed my purse. I had decided to invite her and my aunts, my mother’s sisters, and my cousins who were in college and their twenties. I didn’t want Aunt Raquel to come, but if she didn’t, I couldn’t take Beli, and I didn’t want him to miss this girls‘ outing. This weekend, I wouldn’t have to go to Russell’s house; my little ones were traveling with their parents, so all my time would be for my family.
We arrived at a lovely restaurant my mother had mentioned a thousand times, and I didn’t hesitate to bring her there.
“Daughter,” my mother looked at me surprised as she got out of the car, “they speak highly of this place, though they say the prices are high,” she mentioned slightly worried, knowing that I was very prudent with my finances.
“Mother, just enjoy the dinner,” I kissed her head, and she nodded before walking inside.
“But it’s unbelievable, they won’t believe us,” Aunt Raquel took my mother’s and Aunt Laura’s hands. Aunt Laura was the mother of Lau and Ana, my other two cousins; she was pleasant
and not interested in my love life, which was a relief.
My mother smiled at me while my cousins took photos, my aunts looked around delighted, and Beli looked at the menu with a huge smile on his lips.
Dinner passed with conversations and distractions from my love life questions from my cousins, who had noticed the discomfort those questions from Aunt Raquel caused me.
When we finished, my mother’s sisters went to the restroom, and my cousins went out to the terrace; the restaurant had a stunning view.
“It’s been a beautiful evening, my mother took my hands.

“I’m happy if you are,” I squeezed her hands between mine.
“And I long for your happiness,” she stroked my face, “and even if you don’t show it, I know something is missing in your heart. I gave you life, darling, I know you well enough to know it. You are a beautiful woman, both inside and out.”
“Mom,” I tried to stop her; I was on the verge of tears.
“No, sweetheart, let me finish. You’ve achieved everything you set your mind to, you deserve a beautiful love, and that’s why I listened to your crazy Aunt Raquel. Since you don’t try, someone has to make it happen, and I know you don’t like the idea, but let us try. Maybe soon we’ll hit the mark,” she smiled, and I imitated her, not knowing what to say. I didn’t want to break her illusion, though I didn’t agree.
“Mom, what am I going to do with you?” I complained, and she gave me a warm hug.
Everyone returned, and I asked for the bill. The waiter approached and handed it to me.
I checked the amount and reached for my card when the waiter spoke.
“The bill has been paid,” he informed me, and I looked up at him, filled with confusion. What was he saying?
“Who paid it?” I asked, furrowing my brows.
“The gentleman at the bar,” he pointed in that direction, but I didn’t see anyone, and the waiter looked confused. Suddenly, I saw the profile of a tall, blond man walking towards the exit.
I stood up and walked after him.
