CHAPTER 159: DARE TO LOVE ME Do you have a date?! Part 1
Loli
“Lorenzo, this is my niece, Dolores,” my aunt said. That wretch knew how much I disliked that name and made a point of reminding me of it every chance she got.
The aforementioned Lorenzo turned in my direction and smiled kindly. I took the opportunity
to look him over. He was a normal guy and seemed decent. Tall, thin, with a full head of hair. He wasn’t one of those guys who took your breath away or smelled of danger, whose muscles made you want to be in his arms, one of those who you knew would send you to therapy just by looking into his eyes. No, he didn’t look anything like the blond I had met months ago,
which was a good thing for me.
“Loli,” I said, extending my hand toward him.
“Pleased to meet you, Loli,” he replied with a smile.
“Come to the table, dinner’s ready and I don’t want it to get cold,” my mother invited. I wanted
to help her, but she stopped me and made me sit next to Lorenzo, who looked a little confused. It seemed he had no idea about my mother and aunt’s plan.
Dinner passed with them interrogating poor Lorenzo, winking at me every time he said something about his studies, or that he had his apartment, or that his father was Italian.
Those two, instead of encouraging him, were scaring him off!
Dinner ended, and thank heavens, everyone casually disappeared and left us alone. He told me that he had been transferred a few days ago to the high school near here and that he had
met my mother and aunt while shopping at the supermarket. We talked a little more. An hour later, he was saying goodbye to everyone. We had a nice conversation.
“Hija, see Lorenzo to the door,” my mother pushed me, with an uncomfortable smile because of her actions. I accompanied him, and outside, I closed the door, but I rolled my eyes when I
saw those two moving in the window.
“I’m sorry about their behavior, it must have been uncomfortable,” I apologized to them.
“It’s okay, I understand, they’re moms. Besides, dinner was delicious, I can forgive them.
anything,” he said pleasantly.
“If I were you, I’d get out of here as soon as possible,” I joked, and he laughed.
“Your mother’s interest in us getting to know each other has been evident.”

“You don’t have to…” I started to interrupt.
“It’s okay. Now that I know you, I think we could go on a date,” he said, and I couldn’t believe it.
He wasn’t scared off after tonight.
I was silent. I didn’t know if I was ready, but I had to try. I wasn’t going to spend my whole life thinking about Gavin.
“I’ll pick you up Friday?” he asked at my silence.
“Okay.” I ran my hands over my pants and exhaled forcefully.
“Your mother gave me your number, I’ll call you,” he said gracefully, and of course, she had. He
walked away. He hadn’t come by car; apparently, he lived nearby.
I went back to the house and saw my mother and aunt waiting for me.
“I’m sure you heard everything,” I told them and went up to my room.
I threw myself on the bed and felt a hollow ache in my chest. Why was love so hard?
I shook my head and thought better of it. Love wasn’t hard; people made it hard by falling in love with the wrong people. I was sure that requited love must be beautiful.
Today was the day of the date, and I was a little nervous. I didn’t know what to wear. Lorenzo
had booked a nice restaurant in the center of the UK, and I had no idea what to put on.
“I love it,” Alaia praised a beautiful dress from Ash and Tino’s new collection. They already had almost all the garments ready, but they were still unsure whether to continue with their brand.
“That’s what we’ll close the runway with,” Tino said, circling the mannequin it was on.
“I’ll take it,” Alaia commented as the little ones played on a small table in the large design
room on the second floor of Ash’s shop.
“We’ll make you one to measure; you’ll look like a goddess in it,” Ash said, looking at something on her iPad.
“Oh, please, I want the whole collection made to measure in my closet,” Aly said, hugging Tino as they continued to look at the designs. I was looking at some photos to see if they would give me an idea of what to wear today, and the nerves were getting to me. It was my first date
in a long, long time.
“Loli?” Tino said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“What were you saying?” I asked.

“Let’s order some food. What do you fancy?”
“Oh, whatever you want,” I said, getting distracted again.
“What’s going on, sweetie?” He came up to me and hugged me by the shoulders. “Are you okay?”
“I am. I just have a date tonight and I don’t know what to wear,” I said absentmindedly, and I
heard Tino exhale.
“You have a date?!” he shouted, and the girls turned to look at us. “Don’t tell me you’re going out with Gavin,” he stated, and the girls came closer.
“No.” I bit my lip, and I hated how much I wished it was him, the one I had the date with.
No, no, no, I wouldn’t think like precious Alana; I couldn’t wish for something I couldn’t have.
“My mother introduced him to me. He’s a teacher at my cousins‘ high school,” I clarified, and the three of them looked at each other. “I know what you’re thinking, but I have to move on with my life.”
“Well, if you’ve decided, we’ll support you,” Alaia said, hugging me too.
“Come with me.” Ash took me with her, and we started looking at clothes in her shop.
Tino measured me for a few pieces over my clothes, and I found every piece so beautiful that I would be happy to wear any of them. Finally, we decided on a short romper with a long–sleeved T–shirt with a large opening in the back. It was made of lace fabric and was
black.
One of the girls curled my hair, and Tino did my makeup, while they were all around me. Oh, how I loved them.
