CHAPTER 145: DARE TO LOVE ME Asher? Part 2
William
“Frodo, my man, I was sure that would be your reaction,” Nick said.
“I have no idea when it happened, but I feel like I’m drawn to him like a magnet. I tried distancing myself, but that’s only backfired,” I explained. Being away from him only made me long to see him more. My cousin nodded. “It’s messed up,” I finished.
“Well, now I remember something I read a while ago. It’s really strange, I just saw it,” he said when he was over the shock, and I looked up at him. “And it makes sense. You’ve gone out with all kinds of women, and none of them have achieved what this guy has. You may be attracted to men,” he joked.
“¡***t,” I responded and shook my head. “I don’t know, I think it’s something beyond physical appearance. It’s about who he is, something unique that I haven’t seen in anyone else.” I ran
my hand through my hair in frustration.
“Damn, Will, but… if, as you said, distancing yourself is useless, maybe you should…”
“Confront it,” I finished the sentence and looked at him as he nodded. “I’ve thought about it. I
think I have to see him and resolve this situation once and for all.”
“You’re doing the right thing. We can’t run from our feelings forever, and I don’t blame you for what you’re feeling. The guy has delicate features, anyone could get confused.”
“I know.” I exhaled, and his smiling face came to mind.
“You should know that gay or not, you’ll still be my cousin,” he said, and I closed my eyes tightly upon hearing the word “gay.” It was hard for me to think about myself being attracted to another man.
“That’s a relief,” I said ironically, and Nick laughed. The time had come for him to get back at me for all the times I’d teased him.
“I’m going to the UK. I can’t stand being away from my wife and kids any longer,” he said, standing up.
I shook my head, not understanding.
“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think it was relevant to you, but after what you’ve told me, I think you might be interested. I’m sure you’re going to go looking for him, and you’re not going to find him here.” He looked at me, waiting for me to speak.

“Alaia’s trip was to support Asher with something he didn’t want to tell me about, and I understand. It wasn’t my place to know, but it seems like a complicated matter.”
“They went to the UK because of Asher?” I asked thoughtfully. What could be going on?
“That’s right. I’m leaving tomorrow, in case you want to come with me.” He stood up and
walked out of my office.
I stared at the door for a moment before standing up and going to my apartment. I couldn’t
imagine what was going on with Asher. I barely ate dinner and packed my bags. I could hardly
sleep. I got up before dawn and got ready. When I was done, I checked the time on my watch.
There was still some time left, so I decided to sit on one of the living room chairs, staring at
the suitcase I’d packed, and have a drink. My emotions were all over the place. My mind and
body felt impatient; they needed to see that smile. And on the other hand, I’d have to face
what was happening to me, which was making me anxious.
I placed the glass on the glass table, breaking the silence of the room, and grabbed the small
suitcase to go meet Nick.
I greeted Nick as soon as I saw him. He patted me on the back, and we both boarded the
plane. It would be a surprise for Alaia and the kids. Nick was supposed to arrive a couple of
days later, but he’d decided not to wait any longer.
“Stop drinking,” Nick said.
“It’s the second one,” I showed him the empty glass.
“The second one this morning. You had a few more during the night.”
I didn’t answer because it was true. “I’m fine, they haven’t affected me. I booked a couple of
rooms at the hotel,” I said, grabbing my luggage when the plane landed.
“Good thinking. We’ll get ready there, and then we’ll go to Alaia’s,” he said, and we walked out
of the airport. Nick had rented a car to make it easier for us to get around.
At the hotel, I got ready and decided to skip breakfast. However, I did have another drink.
When I left the room, Nick was already waiting for me.
I observed the UK during the drive to Alaia’s house. I admitted this city had great charm.
Several minutes later, we stopped in front of a luxurious white mansion surrounded by well–kept gardens and trees.
I got out of the car and noticed there was little movement outside. There was only an older man tending the gardens. The doors of the house were open, and we saw two small bodies
running towards us as soon as they saw us.

“Daddy!” the children shouted when they saw Nick. They came running with Loli.
“Good morning,” the girl greeted us with a smile, and we returned the greeting.
“My angel, my little buddy,” Nick said affectionately and took them in his arms, kissing their
heads. The little ones greeted me for a few seconds before returning to their father’s arms.
“Alaia is getting ready, please come in.” The nanny invited us in, and Nick walked with her.
“Come on,” Nick said, but a house next to Alaia’s caught my attention. It was a few meters
away and just a bit smaller than the one in front of me.
I walked towards the gardener and greeted him with a nod.
“Good morning,” I said, and he looked at me. It seemed like he didn’t understand me; he didn’t
speak English.
“Does anyone live there?” I pointed to the house, feeling curious. The man looked in that
direction.
“Ashley,” the man said, and I frowned. “Ashley?” Within seconds, I realized he must be referring
to Asher.
Then he must be there.
“Thank you,” I said, and the man nodded.
I walked to the house that had piqued my curiosity and knocked on the door, but there was no
answer. Without thinking twice, I grabbed the doorknob before turning around to go back to
where I was, and it turned unexpectedly. Part of me told me not to make any more moves, but the other part wanted to go in and talk to him once and for all. I pushed the door, and it
opened. A pleasant aroma invaded my nostrils. I was drawn to how tidy and clean it looked. I
noticed some colorful fabrics scattered around the living room.
I felt captivated by every detail of the house. It seemed to hold the essence of its owner.
I was about to get closer to some photos on a shelf when a noise on the second floor made
me look in that direction. Although I knew I shouldn’t, I decided to go upstairs. At the end of
the stairs, I found a room with a double door that was slightly ajar, allowing me to see the bed
and someone in it. At that moment, I decided to leave, but an arm moved in such a way that I
realized there were two people in bed. Feeling something boil inside me, I entered the room. I
saw that it was Asher being hugged by another man. I clenched my fists and feeling a rage I’d
never felt before, I approached them. I grabbed the guy by his pajama shirt and pulled him
onto the cold floor.
A scream echoed through the room, and the man flailed, trying to break free from my grasp.

“Ouch! You’re hurting me! You’re hurting me!” he yelled as I tried to restrain his weak blows.
“Let him go, you beast!” Asher shouted, and I felt him jump out of bed to try to stop me.
“William?” I heard his voice behind me.
“Let him go, you jerk! Can’t you see it’s Tino?” My fury vanished when Tino stopped struggling
and let me see his face.
“Tino, I’m sorry,” I said, and my hands released his clothes.
“What the hell? Have you gone mad?” He punched my arm, and I helped him to his feet.
“I’m sorry, man.” I touched his shoulder.
“Who do you think you are, entering my house without permission and trying to hit my friend?‘ Asher demanded, and I realized that I wasn’t entirely in control of my thoughts. The drinks I’d had finally took effect.
“I’m sorry,” I said and turned to look in the direction Asher was yelling at me.
“Asher?” I questioned, seeing a woman standing before me.
