CHAPTER 137: DARE TO LOVE ME Invisible
Loli
That day, I decided to wear a long, flowy dress that I had recently bought with Tino. Being in
Los Angeles, with my friends being some of the best designers in Europe, I felt like I’d wasted
them. What was I thinking? My God! I decided to leave my hair down. I’d taken such good care
of it for so long, only to keep it in a ponytail. I’d decided to listen to my friends and do
something new as Tino had said. Otherwise, I’d never meet the love of my life and might have
to marry my aunt’s horrible brother–in–law. But what was I saying? Never, ever!
We finished getting the little ones ready. They looked as handsome as ever. We were a couple
of days away from Alaia’s wedding trip to the UK. I didn’t understand so much fuss over this
wedding. If Alaia and Mr. Garnett couldn’t be more in love, we’d all noticed, except them, of
course.
During breakfast, I listened to the family’s conversation about the wedding. Mrs. Elise, Mr.
Patrick, and Mrs. Paula would travel to the UK that night to finalize details. Alaia had business
matters to attend to here and would travel to arrive just in time for the wedding. Come on, it
didn’t even seem like it was her wedding. If it were me, I’d be jumping for joy. But Alaia, well,
that woman seemed like an iron lady, although deep down she was a sweetheart and full of love for her family and especially for the little ones, whom she loved more than her own life.
“Good morning,” greeted that voice I knew so well and had been ignoring since Alaia’s birthday, just like he’d ignored me all this time. And like a fool, I hadn’t wanted to realize it.
“Good morning,” the girls in the kitchen replied. I decided not to respond, or he’d keep thinking I
was intense.
“Can I help you with anything, Gavin?” one of the girls asked, and I continued preparing the bottles for Noah and Alana, with my back to them. We were going to the office that day.
“Yes, I need the parking lot keys. We’re taking the cars in for maintenance,” Gavin replied.
I couldn’t deny that hearing him still did something to my body, even though I’d tried to stop it from happening. But I was sure Gavin would soon be history to me, and he wouldn’t matter
anymore.
I heard little feet running toward the kitchen and smiled.
“Loli,” Noah shouted, and I turned to look at him, but my eyes met Gavin’s intense gaze as one
of the girls talked to him.
I frowned and made a face immediately. What was he doing looking at me? As if he’d only

been trying to make me feel invisible.
Despite my gesture, he continued to stare at me. What was wrong with him?
“Yes, my love?” I broke eye contact with Gavin and looked at my little ones.
“Ride in cars,” Noah said, and I understood they wanted to drive their toy cars.
“But only if we don’t take too long to leave with Mom and the uncles,” I told them, and they just looked at me with those big, cute eyes that told me no one could take the idea out of their heads.
“Come on, let’s go,” I said with a smile, and they smiled back at me. I could just die of love.
I took their hands, and we walked to the exit, which was blocked by Gavin. I stopped in front of him and looked into his eyes.
“Okay, so I’m invisible, but at least I know I don’t walk through people,” I said, lifting my chin.
“I see that with everything you know, you haven’t been taught to return a greeting,” he replied,
looking down at me from his height.
I blinked, unable to believe it, and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor. I’d been greeting him this
whole time, and he hadn’t responded to any of my greetings, let alone the blessed courtesies.
This beast hadn’t even thanked me.
“And what do you know about what I know? And as for the other thing,” I spoke, annoyed, and
he raised his face and eyebrows, “I’ve already understood. The last thing I want is to bother
anyone with my insistence and intensity,” I repeated that insufferable woman’s words.
His eyebrows furrowed as if he didn’t understand me. But we’ll see about that.
“What are you…” he began to say.
“Excuse me, I have things to do,” I interrupted. The children and I walked past him since he’d decided not to move his imposing figure from the entrance to the kitchen.
### Gavin
Mr. Russell and I had agreed that the cars should be inspected and maintained while the
family was in the UK for the wedding.
“I’ll go,” Gus said, starting to walk off to look for Sylvia.
“No, I’ll go,” I stopped him after giving orders in the security room. I’d decided to find out more about Lola, who had ignored me since the party. It was causing me some conflict, and I was doing my best to run into her, which didn’t seem to be working lately.

“I can handle it. It’s just some keys, boss,” Gus said with a smile. He enjoyed teasing me about
- it.
“I said I’ll go,” I replied firmly.
After searching for Sylvia, the housekeeper, without success, I arrived in the kitchen and found Lola, as I had expected. My eyes went to her before I spoke to the girls. I greeted them as usual every morning and only heard the response of the three girls, but not Lola’s, which made me look at her as she turned her back on me.
Alana and Noah ran past me and went to the blonde, who turned around and smiled at them. My eyes fixed on her smile, the unique color of her eyes, and the way her hair fell forward as she leaned toward the children. Without blinking, I watched her talk to them, something I hadn’t done before, and I found the sweetness with which she looked at them and addressed them attractive.
They talked for a few seconds and walked toward me, but I didn’t move. She’d have to talk to me if she wanted to get out, and I wanted her to.
She mentioned being invisible and, with sympathy, talked about not walking through people. I analyzed her words, and I felt something I liked. Things didn’t improve when she mentioned something about not bothering anyone with her insistence and intensity. I couldn’t understand it, and I was about to reply when she decided to leave.
I stood there in silence, pondering her every word. What I was sure of was that I had apparently made her feel invisible, and now she was making me feel that way, and I admitted that I didn’t like it, not after having all her attention.
I returned to concentrate on my work after several minutes of feeling bewildered by that girl.
During the day, I dedicated myself to work until Lola returned with Alaia and the others. I walked towards the entrance through a side entrance to the house. They got out of the cars, she walked towards the door and smiled at the children who went happily.
“Is that a smile?” I heard Gus say, and I turned my face towards him.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“You don’t smile. You always have that look on your face like you’ve just eaten crap,” he said, fiddling with something on one of the radios.
“I wasn’t smiling,” I growled, turning to go back to where I was.
“If you say so,” he replied, walking beside me. I entered the security room to receive the report
from the men who had left with Alaia. We were at my desk, talking when I heard someone call

Gus.
One of my men started talking about the day, and I took notes while holding my forehead with my other hand.
“You got it, thank you,” Lola spoke in Spanish and threw her arms around Gus, under my gaze, which I quickly raised when I realized what was happening.
“It was easy,” the i***t that was my friend laughed as he did with his conquests.
“My mother is going to die, and don’t even get me started on my father. They’ll want to meet you as soon as they see everything you’ve accomplished. It’ll be a wonderful surprise,” Lola
said, hugging Gus again. I’d only managed to pick up a couple of words; I understood very little Spanish.
I stopped the meeting and stood up to go to the entrance of the room where the two of them
were interacting. With my usual seriousness, I positioned myself next to my friend.
“A fly just landed in my soup,” Lola said again in her language and stopped smiling. I didn’t
understand what she was saying, but Gus started laughing.
“I owe you one,” she continued, ignoring me and turning back to Gus. “What am I saying? I owe
you a thousand.” Lola kissed his cheeks and hugged him once more. She left without looking
at me. I clenched my jaw and crossed my arms.
“Since when do you speak Spanish?” I asked when it was just my friend and me.
“My mother is from Mexico. Have you forgotten?” He raised an eyebrow at me. I thought he
had mentioned it before.
“Why did she thank you like that?” I couldn’t help but ask. My friend turned his neck quickly,
his eyebrow raising slightly.
I waited for him to answer me, my jaw tense.
“I got some gifts for her family. Tom Cruise sent Lola’s father a message, among other things,”
he said with a shrug.
“I could have helped you get them,” I said, not showing any interest, although I was.
“You?” His question had to do with the fact that he had witnessed firsthand how I had pretended that she didn’t exist. “I don’t think so, buddy. I took care of it. She’s a nice girl; I like her. Have you seen her face? It’s to die for.” He patted my back and entered the room.
I rubbed my chin hard at his words. I had just noticed that face.
“What did she say when she came up to you? The phrase in Spanish,” I asked, and Gus started

laughing again, just like he had then.
“Something like she’s not happy to see you,” he said, and I let out a low growl.
