CHAPTER 133: DARE TO LOVE ME Attempt to Protect You
William
I was on my way to the exclusive bar where I’d be meeting with one of our important clients.
He was coming with his partner, and I knew them well enough to understand they always preferred a meeting accompanied by a couple of beautiful women. So, I called two girls I knew
who would get along well with them. I made a stop to pick them up, and when I arrived, I saw
they were already at the building’s entrance.
“William, darling,” they both hugged me as I stepped out of the car and approached them. “We
thought you’d forgotten about us; it’s been a while since you called,” the redhead pouted.
Smiling, I observed them. It had been some time since I arranged a meeting with a girl, one
where we got together for a night of enjoyment and the next day said goodbye, returning to
being acquaintances. It was incredible how many girls accepted these arrangements. I
admitted that when I was in college, I got carried away by attraction with a couple of them
and wasn’t clear, but after that, I decided to be honest with the others; it would only be about
s*x, and that’s how I’d done it. Thanks to that, I hadn’t been interested in serious relationships,
or no one had interested me enough to take that step. Who would want that when I could have
the benefits without any commitment? And although even to myself, my behavior seemed strange, I hadn’t stopped desiring female company for years. But lately, I didn’t know what the
hell was happening to me; my body wasn’t reacting to any of them. On the contrary, it only seemed to react to one person, something I’d been vehemently denying, trying to control what
it caused in me by avoiding it at all costs.
“I’ve been busy,” I explained, and they made a gesture of discontent. I laughed at this and
opened the door for them.
The trip to the bar was short, and we talked about trivial things along the way. I shook my head, noticing some suggestive gestures from both of them.
We greeted my clients, who were at the entrance of the establishment. They were delighted to
receive the girls.
We went up to the floor where the bar was located, and they took us to a table that provided a magnificent view of the city. This place was one of my favorites; the atmosphere, the music, the drinks, everything was at a good level.
“I remember our encounter in the bathroom here,” the brunette whispered near my ear, and I smiled slightly at the memory, although now the thought of repeating it didn’t cross my
mind.

The client and I talked business while the girls took a few photos and drank their cocktails.
When we finished discussing the topics that were the reason for our meeting, the conversation became more relaxed, and the girls and they started getting to know each other.
I let them talk and looked around. As always, there were couples, businessmen, and groups of
girls who smiled at me. I squinted my eyes as I saw a small, slender figure talking to a man who must have been as tall as I was. I ordered a new drink without taking my eyes off them. It arrived quickly, and I drank it while following the movements of those two. The guy was watching Asher, and I knew that look–like a hawk to its prey. I felt an unpleasant sensation in my stomach, one I didn’t recognize. I only knew that the closer he got to the skinny one, the
more intense it became.
I couldn’t stop watching them. I just hoped Asher would push him away or do something.
What kind of thoughts were these? He was a man! I chastised myself, rubbing my face with
both hands. No, no, this couldn’t be happening.
I ordered another drink and downed it in one go. No matter how much you avoided it, it kept
appearing in your path. Perfect!
The guy moved away when some women approached, and I stood up, not knowing why, and walked confidently towards him. His scent enveloped me, and I stopped breathing for a second. My impulses were becoming harder to control. I wasn’t even fully conscious of the
moment I arrived where I was.
“Having fun?” I asked from behind him.
He turned around amusingly and ended up facing me. His cheeks told me he’d had more to
drink than he should.
“Oh, yes, a lot,” he nodded more times than necessary, smiling and showing his perfect teeth,
crinkling his nose.
“This is delicious,” he pointed to his drink, acting gayer than ever.
“I think you should leave,” I said, taking the drink that was just handed to him, which he had drunk halfway in seconds. I smelled it and noticed it wasn’t that strong, but it seemed to have
affected him.
“Excuse me?” He moved his finger in circles while pointing at me. “You’ve been pretending I don’t exist for days, and now you want to tell me what to do?” He huffed, putting his hands on his torso. “Go back to where you came from; the girls are waiting for you. They’re gorgeous, by
the way,” he waved his hand towards the table where I was, and I narrowed my eyes at him.
That tone?

“Asher…” I tried to reason with him and watched as he challenged me with his
gaze.
“William,” one of the girls I brought took my arm, and the small brunette looked at her. “We’re
waiting for you at the table.”
“I’ll be there in a second,” I said without looking at her.
“Yes, Will,” Asher approached me and touched my chest with both hands while looking at our
companion, then looked at me with amusement in his eyes. Confused, I saw his hands slowly
move over me while he looked into my eyes. “Go,” he brought his face closer to mine, and my
breathing quickened. I heard a faint sound of surprise from the girl still holding my arm.
“William, I didn’t know that…” I could feel her gaze going between Asher and me.
I should have been angry because he had questioned my preferences and my sexuality, but on
the contrary, I was fascinated by his gaze and the warmth of his hands on my chest.
I was screwed!
“Will,” Frank greeted me cheerfully, and I found it impossible to stop looking at the small man
in front of me. “Good to see you,” he approached and hugged me, breaking the eye contact I
had with Asher, who took his cocktail again and smiled at someone in front of him. I realized
it was the guy he was talking to.
“It’s okay, man,” Frank looked in the direction of my gaze. “I’ll take care of him and personally
take him home. You have nothing to worry about,” he patted my back, and although I knew
Frank hadn’t been drinking, I didn’t like any of this at all.
“That’s right, Will, we’ll be fine,” Asher patted Frank’s shoulder. “Go back to where you were and
pretend you haven’t seen me, as you’ve been doing lately,” he lifted his chin.
“Infuriating.”
I looked at both of them, and they waited for me to leave. I took the new cocktail he ordered
and drank it in front of their incredulous and angry eyes.
“You i***t!” shouted the owner of the drink, and his angry face made me want to laugh.
“Don’t let him drink anymore,” I told Frank, leaving the empty glass on the bar.
“I already have a father,” he responded, and Frank laughed.
“I’ll do that,” my friend nodded and patted my shoulder.
I turned around and returned to my table, but I kept watching them without answering the
redhead’s questions about my compromising situation with another man.

But who did he think he was? I thought as I watched him leave. None of this made any sense. I took a deep breath to reduce my annoyance and returned to talking with the guys who had joined some women. Daniel kept talking to me, and I liked him more and more. I was torn between telling him the truth or not. Come on, I didn’t want him to get his hopes up, and less so for me to get my hopes up, as I was three words away from being completely captivated by
him.
I laughed at my thoughts.
I noticed Frank received a call and stepped away, but he didn’t take long to return.
“I have to go back to the hotel. I forgot to send some important documents; they need them at one of our offices in Germany,” he explained, looking at his watch.
“I’ll go with you,” I offered.
“No, I won’t be long. Wait for me here and enjoy the night. Not a single cocktail more,” he said,
putting away his phone, and I rolled my eyes for his amusement.
I watched him leave and continued talking with the guys. I ordered another drink but took it
slowly to maintain the effect of the alcohol in my head without getting completely lost.
The minutes passed, and I had fun with the three kind gentlemen who accompanied me. Occasionally, I looked in the direction where I felt a strong energy watching me, and his
frowning look made me press my lips to avoid laughing. What was bugging him now?
We saw the bar was about to close, but Frank hadn’t appeared. We decided to leave, as Daniel
and the guys needed to get up in a few hours.
We went down in the elevator and walked together to the exit. I frowned when I saw Frank’s
car at the building’s entrance.
“Asher,” Will again. I looked up at the sky, not understanding this man.
Without turning around, I took my phone and searched for Frank’s contact when I felt him grab
my elbow and turn me towards him.
“I’ll take you home,” he said, and I frowned.
“No, thanks. I’ll go with my friends,” I pointed to the guys who were paying attention to our
exchange:
“You just met them,” he pointed at them.
“That’s not your problem,” now he cared about me? After pretending I didn’t exist all this time.
“You’ll come with me,” he grabbed my arm, and Daniel stopped beside me, looking at William.

“No,” I pulled away from his arm.
“You heard him,” Daniel spoke.
“Stay out of this,” William pointed at him.
Annoyed by how he talked to the guy who had been nothing but kind to me tonight, I snapped back, “I’m just trying to protect you,” he looked at me, and I frowned. What was his deal?
“Why are you trying to protect me? Man, I don’t understand you,” I said, irritated.
I remained silent, waiting for an answer, a feeling bubbling in my chest at the words I secretly hoped to hear…
William looked at me in silence, clearly having an internal debate.
“You’re Alaia’s cousin,” he rubbed his face in frustration, and disappointment washed over me.
I didn’t even know what I wanted him to say, but it wasn’t that.
“I’ll be fine; it’s Frank’s car,” I said as I saw him approaching me. I got in with surprising speed, and the driver drove off just as quickly.
