CHAPTER 126: DARE TO LOVE ME Strange Moment
**Ashley**
We went to the restaurant with Tino, who came to the company with the little ones, and now
we were on our way to the house where the women and children from the home were found. We felt tense, unable to understand why they were taken to this place. Upon arrival, we were baffled to see that the house was in very poor condition. It was large but looked very old and neglected as if it might collapse at any moment. We entered, and Alicia and the girls welcomed us warmly, as did the children. Alana silently observed the house while I carried her
in my arms.
After talking a bit more with them and clarifying what happened and how they ended up here, we asked them to organize their things so we could take them to the house that belonged to them. I was speaking with one of the girls when we saw the house starting to fill with smoke,
and chaos ensued. I grabbed Noah and rushed out of the house, seeing several of the girls and children coming out with us, but I didn’t see Alana and Tino. The last I saw, they were
walking in the living room.
I decided to go back into the house to look for them, leaving Noah in Alicia’s arms, who was a
bundle of nerves. I re–entered, but the smoke had already spread throughout the living room, making it difficult to see. After calling out for Alaia several times, I managed to find her, feeling a lump in my throat not knowing anything about Tino and Alana.
I exited the house and took Noah from Alicia’s arms. After Alaia went to get my friend and our daughter, I could understand that she stayed, and I was certain that if Noah didn’t need me, I
would have stayed to help her search for them.
“Are you okay, my love?” I spoke to him lovingly, and he nodded, looking at all the chaos. I pressed him against my body and fixed my gaze on the house with concern.
“Asher?” Surprisingly, Nick arrived where I was and looked at Noah. His face showed confusion as he took the child, who clung to him, and I realized that Nick had won over his
children, and I was happy for my kids.
I managed to explain to Nick what happened and quickly told him that Alaia was inside with Tino and Alana. Without hesitation, he headed towards them, but not before asking Will to stay with us. I was surprised to learn that his cousin was also here.
“Are you okay?” he asked, and I looked up to see his furrowed brow. He looked uneasy.
I looked into his blue eyes fixed on me, and something ran through my body, something I

couldn’t describe.
I just nodded.
“They’ll be out soon, you can be sure of that,” he said, gently touching my shoulder. He took
Noah’s little hand, and I looked into his eyes again. We gazed at each other in silence for a few
seconds, during which I had to swallow hard due to the emotions I was feeling.
After a long wait, we finally saw the people I had been praying for coming out from one side of
the house. I closed my eyes, and my heart calmed down. I looked at Will, who nodded and
gave me a slight smile. I ran towards Alaia, who had Alana in her arms and wrapped my arms.
around them, feeling more at ease.
I stroked Tino’s face after making sure my girls and Nick were okay.
“Sweetie, you were very brave,” I told my friend. He nodded, still scared, my poor Tino. Imagine.
coming from the UK to go through this.
It didn’t take long for the paramedics to start examining them when Flora said that Nick and
William had gone into the house looking for Jenn. I had no idea why, but at that moment, my
blood ran cold, and my hands felt icy. I walked back to the house and stood outside, waiting. for William and Nick to come out safely.
I bit my lip from the tension I felt. Why was I so worried? After the five or six most agonizing
minutes I’d lived in a long time, I saw them coming out, but my eyes focused solely on
William, who was carrying Jenn’s baby in his arms. Absorbed, I watched him as he checked on
the baby and smiled, the image captivating me.
“Damn! Are you seeing what I’m seeing? Those two men are oozing testosterone from every
pore. They came out like superheroes from that house. Look at how the wet shirt clings to
their bodies and how their muscles stand out. Have you ever seen anything sexier in your
life?” Tino shouted to the four winds, and my body felt a jolt as I realized that every word Tino said was true. William looked like he stepped out of an action movie, incredibly handsome,
not to mention the tenderness with which he carried the baby.
A shiver ran through my body when he looked at me for a few seconds before continuing on
his way.
My gaze followed him as the paramedics examined him, and I remained like that until he
looked at me.
“Are you okay?” I asked slowly and silently so that he could read my lips.
William nodded, and I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw the paramedic examining a bruise on
his abdomen. Will pointed to the ambulance, indicating that he would go in it, and I nodded.

But what was this sign language we had invented?
After a long afternoon, we finally arrived at the hospital where everyone was being examined. Alicia, I, and some of the other girls were in the waiting room since nothing had happened to us. I looked in all directions, waiting for news of them.
At one point, I saw William walking with a nurse down a hallway. Without knowing why, I stood up and walked towards them. I stopped near the door of the room they entered and noticed they were applying something to his forehead and covering some small cuts.
I saw the nurse leave, and I felt compelled to enter the room.
William was looking at his abdomen when he noticed me entering.
“Hello,” I said as I finished entering.
“Hello,” he straightened up. It was just at that moment that I realized I had no idea what force compelled me to come here, and now I was standing in front of him, not knowing what to say.
“What you did was risky but very brave.” But what did I just say? That sounded bad, even cheesy, not worthy of me, oh my God!
“When it comes to defenseless people, it’s better to act. If you come out okay, you can reflect on what you did later,” he commented with a half–smile that made my knees tremble.
I nodded.
“You know, there were only girls and children. We had to take care of them. The firefighters
were busy,” he shrugged slightly.
“You see, Tino and you count as girls if I’m not mistaken,” he teased, and I immediately punched his abdomen, but I regretted it the second I heard a deep, masculine groan. Will put his hand on his abdomen, and with wide eyes, I saw the pain on his face.
“Oh, my God,” I said very clearly in Spanish. “Are you okay? Are you alright?” I examined him with my eyes and hands, which I brought to his face, and our gazes connected.
“Did I hurt you badly?” my hands remained on his face.
“Uh, no, no, I’m fine,” he said in a hoarse voice and started looking at every part of my face. “Your voice sounds different with that Spanish accent,” he furrowed his brows.
“All done,” the nurse arrived, and I jumped back from William. I noticed he frowned.
“I’ll see you in a bit,” I said and left the room, but what just happened?
I returned to the waiting room, and after a while, everyone started being discharged. Thank heavens they were okay. At one point, my uncle arrived with the others. They took the children

and Tino, who almost didn’t leave. This guy wanted to be involved in everything. Alaia and I stayed waiting for news about Jenn and her baby.
When it was late, we received a report that reassured us about Jenn and the baby. Nick was discharged, and behind him came Will, and we both avoided looking at each other after the
strange moment in that room.
We went out to the parking lot, and Alaia offered to take them. Well, I would have preferred to be far from William, as I was not controlling my emotions when he was near.
We took them to the apartment, and although I was looking in the opposite direction from where he was getting out of the car, something indescribable made me turn to look at him, and I swallowed hard when I saw that he was looking at me with a furrowed brow before
turning and entering his building.
Finally, we arrived home, where we took a warm shower. Tino was already in bed, sleeping like
a bear. I settled next to him and let out a deep sigh.
My body shuddered as I remembered the way William looked at me in that room. Oh my God,
oh my God, but what was this I was feeling?
No, I couldn’t be falling in love with him. I shook my head, trying to dispel those thoughts.
