CHAPTER 112: DARE TO LOVE ME Loli
Loli
My goodness, how beautiful it was here. I opened the curtain of my room after leaving my luggage in the closet. We had arrived very tired from the trip yesterday and had only rested for the remainder of the day. I looked around and saw that this room was the size of my apartment in the UK. Working with Alaia and the little ones had been the best thing that had happened to me. I had spent several years working in a kindergarten until a friend recommended me to be a nanny for wealthy people, and here I was, blessed to have arrived at the Russell household. I never imagined I would travel to Los Angeles to take care of my little ones. I smiled, looking at the wonderful blue sky, and inhaled deeply the air here. I looked at the side of the perfectly manicured garden; what a mansion, it was even more beautiful than
the one in the UK.
My phone rang, and I saw on the screen that it was my mother. I smiled and approached the phone to take the call. The farewell had been difficult, but they knew I couldn’t be in a better place. The Russells treated me like part of the family, and what could I say about Alaia and
Ash? They were a delight.
“Mom,” I answered, opening my luggage with my free hand and starting to take out my clothes
to put them in the closet.
“Dolores, my treasure,” she said with emotion in her voice, and I smiled, although I didn’t like being called by my name. They had named me after my paternal grandmother, and I only planned to use it when I was her age. “How was the trip? Did you arrive safely? How are the
little ones, Alaia?”
“We arrived very well, the little ones are precious, and Alaia is a sweetheart, as always. How are Dad and Juan?” Juan was my younger brother, he was 23 and didn’t know what he wanted in life. He was a NEET, and I was trying to convince him to study or do something.
“They’re fine, watching the game.”
“I love you, precious,” I heard my father shout.
“And I love you, Daddy,” I said, smiling.
“Your Aunt Raquel is here,” she commented, and I made a face. Everyone had that aunt who spent her time rubbing in everyone’s face that her daughters were well married and her sons had gone to the best universities and were success stories, trying to feel superior and make those of us who weren’t married or weren’t like her children feel less.

“That’s great, Mom,” I said without enthusiasm.
“Sweetie, it’s a shame you just left because your aunt has come up with a great idea,” my mother said excitedly.
“You know, you’ve passed 30 and haven’t found a good boyfriend. I think you’re going to end up an old maid, God forbid,” I knew she made the sign of the cross, “but we can’t let that happen,” I wrinkled my nose and looked out the window again. I noticed several men parading through the gardens, raising both eyebrows. This wasn’t seen at the house in the UK.
“Your Aunt Raquel wants to introduce you to her brother–in–law. He works at a bank, he’s divorced, and he’s looking for a new wife,” she commented delightedly while I made a face of disgust. I thought I remembered the man, who seemed to be starting to go bald, smoked like a chimney, and looked incredibly boring.
“We’ll arrange a date when you have your days off here, treasure.”
“Mom, you know I don’t like blondes,” I started to say. I had always liked dark–haired men, like my boyfriend from two years ago, who had left me for someone else when he got pregnant. I sighed deeply. “No, you’re not going to find me a husband. Find something else to entertain yourselves with.”
“But my girl, this could be your last chance. You’re not getting any younger. We thought you might meet a wealthy man like those you work for, but daughter, I think you have karma from past lives preventing you from finding love,” she commented quickly. Sometimes I wasn’t sure
my mother loved me or hated me.
Hearing this, I started to get angry. Those weren’t my mother’s words but my dear Aunt Raquel’s.
“Mom, stop listening to Aunt Raquel, do me a favor. And Aunt Raquel,” I raised my voice because I knew I was on speaker, “why don’t you go check if your husband isn’t being a pervert with every young girl he meets.”
“Dolores!” my mother shouted, and I heard a muffled gasp, which I was sure was from my
aunt.
I laughed silently.
“We’ll talk later when you’re alone. I love you, Mom,” I said and hung up before she could say
something that made me even angrier.

I finished arranging my clothes in the closet. Mrs. Paula was with the little ones while I put my

things in place. My favorite garments were wide–legged overalls; they were very comfortable
for being with the children, so I had many of them in all colors.
I sighed, looking at everything in order, and walked out of the room. I wandered through the house until I reached the large patio with green grass.
“Loli,” my children called, and I smiled from ear to ear, approaching them.
“What are you doing?” I asked while hugging them.
“Jumping,” Alana jumped.
“Jumping?”
“Yes,” she nodded, jumping along with Noah, and I started to jump with them while we
laughed.
“My goodness,” I said, tired of jumping. “Let’s get some water,” I took them by the hand.
“Water,” I said the word.
“Awa,” my children repeated, giving another jump.
In the kitchen, I sat them on the high chairs and prepared their cups.
“How do you feel in Los Angeles, Loli?” Mrs. Paula asked pleasantly. Alaia and Ash had gone
to an important meeting related to the big project that brought us here.
“Very well, I still can’t believe it,” I commented, smiling, and she smiled, approaching the
children to caress them.
I organized the children’s dishes, always making sure everything was in its place.
“Mrs. Stewart,” a deep, masculine voice sounded behind me. My goodness, even the hair on
my back stood up.
“Yes?”
“Gavin Hillard,” his strong voice was heard again. A part of me wanted to turn around, but I held back. Dolores, control yourself. This isn’t the first time you’ve heard such a sensual voice. I blinked. Yes, it was the first time, I corrected myself.
“Loli,” my precious Noah called, and well, these two little pieces of people had me wrapped around their little fingers. I adored them.
I took a breath and turned around, running my hands over my overalls. The first thing I saw

was a tall man, over 1.90 meters, standing at the kitchen entrance. He was wearing a tailored
suit that looked new and fit his muscular frame. He had honey–colored eyes and blonde hair, with a chiseled face and youthful features. He wasn’t just handsome; he was something else entirely.
“Didn’t you say you don’t like blondes?” my mind questioned, and I shook off the thought
without stopping looking at him.
“Loli, this is Gavin, our head of security,” Mrs. Paula introduced us. “Gavin, this is Loli, my
grandchildren’s nanny.”
The guy nodded and extended his hand to me.
“A pleasure,” that voice.
“Likewise, I kept a serious face but sighed audibly, making him look at me and raise an
eyebrow.
“You were saying, darling,” I let go of his hand and turned to see Noah, but how embarrassing!
“More water, please,” he extended his little cup. Oh, I could eat him up.
“Of course, sweetheart,” I glanced sideways at the handsome bodyguard while he focused his
attention on talking to Mrs. Paula.
Well, Loli, another one for your collection of men who will never be interested in you.
