CHAPTER 102: You Can’t Leave Me
Alaia
The officers began to move, and I put Noah back in my mother’s arms before running towards where the explosion had occurred.
“Alaia!” I heard my father’s voice, and a hand tried to stop me, which I shook off brusquely.
My lungs burned from the speed at which I crossed the grass. It was beginning to dawn. I reached the house, and it was in perfect condition, only the window panes were broken. I followed the smoke to find a destroyed and burning plane outside the small runway, near the trees. I ran in that direction and looked for any trace of Nick or Will. Police officers were running in all directions and pointing to somewhere in the grass behind the plane.
My feet moved towards there.
“Alaia,” Will’s voice stopped me.
“Will,” I said, barely breathing, and approached him to hug him. He was alive and well.
“Where’s Nick?” I questioned, looking behind him. The special forces team was trying to extinguish the fire.
“He was on the plane. I couldn’t stop him before he got on. He asked me to support him from
outside,” he lowered his gaze and covered his eyes with both hands. No, no, Nick couldn’t be in
that wrecked plane. I shook my head, my gaze was lost, and tears moistened my eyes.
“No, no, no, Nick, no,” I touched my chest to calm the pain of thinking I’d lost the love of my
life.
“You must leave,” an agent asked us. “We’ve called a team to search for survivors and recover
the bodies.” I looked at him with glassy eyes, and fury invaded me.
“He’s not dead! He can’t be dead!”
“We need to do a sweep, but you must leave. We’ll cordon off the area.”
I saw Will completely devastated. He took me by the shoulders and tried to take me with him,
while the agent moved away from us, and I looked towards the plane. My pain only became
even more unbearable.
“He can’t be dead, I repeated like a madwoman and made us stop. I felt an irrepressible urge
to go there.
“I need to see him. I can’t believe I lost him forever,” I sobbed and ran towards the plane. Will

follow my steps. I started searching among the grass and small trees, breathing heavily, and
couldn’t find anything. I refused to look at the plane; there was nothing in it that could have
saved him.
“We found a person!” a man shouted, and Will and I opened our eyes to go in that direction.
They were lifting a man onto a stretcher. Half of his face was burned, as was the left side of
his body. I suddenly felt nauseous, and Will moved ahead, covering me with his body.
“Who is it?” I questioned and closed my eyes.
“It’s Killian,” Will clarified quickly and moved his head in another direction.
“His condition is serious. He’ll be taken immediately to the nearest hospital,” he explained, and
I couldn’t believe he was still alive and Nick…
“Please, leave. We need to do our job. I’ll have to ask my colleagues to accompany you,” he
called other men.
“No,” I inhaled through my nose, “we’ll leave,” I assured and walked through the grass looking
in all directions, searching, searching for him. Every image of my husband returned to my
mind.
We’d taken several steps to move away from the plane, and I heard a lament followed by the
sound of a branch. It was too faint. I looked at the ground to see if I’d made the noise, but
there was only grass on the ground.
“What?” Will questioned, looking at me with red eyes.
“Shhhh,” I said, looking all around and closing my eyes, sharpening my other senses.
The groan was heard again.
“Did
you hear that?” I whispered, moving towards where I thought I’d heard it.
“No, Will came with me.
My eyes opened when I saw something blue lying on the ground, and I ran to find a very injured girl wearing the distinctive clothing of a flight attendant.
“Call them,” I said urgently, and I saw she had a blow to her head and was making some
sounds.
“Calm down, don’t move,” I said, looking towards where Will had gone.
She said something and pointed to her side, which made me look there, and my stomach felt turmoil as my lungs stopped receiving oxygen, and I threw myself there.
I knelt before him, noticing that his eyes were closed.

“My love,” I said crying and putting my ear to his chest while touching his non–existent pulse.
“No, you can’t leave me,” I started pressing his lungs and giving him mouth–to–mouth resuscitation.
I moved quickly, trying to make him react, at which point two people arrived and took his pulse.
I looked at them, and the man shook his head.
“You told me you wouldn’t leave,” I hit his chest, and my sobs came out uncontrollably.
“Ma’am,” they took my arm, but I broke free. Will dried his eyes with his fingers.
“Our children are waiting for you, darling,” I spoke on his chest and felt as if something was painfully squeezing my heart.
“I promised I would never abandon you again,” his voice made me open my eyes and lift face to see him. His eyelids moved, and I came back to life along with him.
my
“My love!” I brought my lips to him to kiss him. I felt his hand on my shoulder, and he pulled me towards him.
“Ma’am, you must let him breathe,” the man who had checked his pulse spoke, and I separated from my husband, but I caressed his face and looked into his eyes, those I thought I would
never see again.
“She is the air I breathe,” Nick caressed my face and looked at the man, who laughed and
shook his head before communicating on the radio.
“s**t, you just gave me the worst scare of my life,” Will commented with a smile and patted his
cousin’s chest.
“I’ll be annoying you for many more years,” Nick laughed, and I closed my eyes, giving thanks
to heaven.
We arrived at the clinic, and my family members were being examined in different rooms. I
was in Nick’s room while Noah was on his lap.
“How did you end up on the plane?” I questioned, and Nick sighed.
“Killian wanted to escape. I ran after him. I couldn’t let him get away so easily without paying
for everything he’s done,” he explained. “I got on the plane, where he took a gun and the flight
attendant as a hostage and alternated the gun between the two, while I pointed another at
him. At that moment, the police arrived, and from outside, they began to order him to release the girl and surrender, but he didn’t stop. He aimed at the co–pilot and ordered him to start the
plane. He wanted to escape. Killian was frantic, and I took advantage of that to see that the

plane had another door different from the one Killian was obstructing. I signaled the girl to know if we could use it, and she nodded.”
“I don’t know at what point the co–pilot deviated from the path and made us move and lose our balance. The girl broke free from Killian at the moment I shot him in the hand that had the gun, but he didn’t drop it and started shooting at us. I remember more detonations from the outside. Killian shot at the police. I took the girl to the other door. We jumped after opening the
door; that’s the last thing I can remember.”
He closed his eyes.
Now I understood why they had appeared a few meters away from the plane. I remained
thoughtful, I could only think that a miracle had saved them. I sighed, feeling that everything
was over now. Noah said something to his father, and he looked at him.
They both had a tender conversation. I couldn’t stop smiling, nor could I stop looking at them.
I had called everyone at the house, and they had told me they were on their way. A police
officer had called them before I could do it.
Nick looked at me, smiled, and extended his hand towards me. I approached to take it without
hesitation, to seek his lips, while he caressed my back and his mischievous hand reached my
buttocks.
“Honey, a little over two hours ago, your heart wasn’t beating,” I scolded him and left short kisses on his lips.
“Even in another world, I’ll continue loving you, desiring you. What we have will continue even
if our bodies cease to exist,” he assured, taking a strand of my hair, and we kissed again.
My heart beat erratically, and I couldn’t feel happier and more in love.
“Lana,” my son’s voice was heard, and we saw my little girl enter the room. Her eyes were on
her little brother, while Noah asked to get down from the bed, and I carried out his request
quickly; we saw him run towards his little sister, and we let them have their moment, while
Nick hugged me and made me sit beside him on the bed.
I was dying of tenderness, watching them hug and talk among themselves.
“Oh my God, oh my God, you’re alive. I thought I was going to die when they talked about an explosion,” Tino entered, followed by Ash, who wore a cap covering his hair. The others arrived too: my mother, my father, Elise, my grandfather, Nick’s parents, Caty, and Loli, and everyone approached to hug Noah, who smiled delightedly to see them all. I took my little girl in my arms to fill her with kisses and show her how much I loved her, and Nick did the same. My
little girl clung to him happily.

“Handsome, what a joy to see you. We’ve had the scare of our lives. I thought the worms would eat that well–formed body,” he expressed afflicted.
“Honey, wasn’t there a joke in poorer taste?” Ash shook his head.
“But come on, everything has passed now, we’re all fine, it’s okay, daughter.”
“I’m glad to see you too, Tino,” Nick let out a small laugh, and Tino looked delighted with the
response.
“You’re as mad as a hatter, woman,” Ash shook his head, “but I understand you, you can’t love
him more,” he looked at Nick, who smiled, “And well, you’re soulmates, you saved each other,
but my goodness, enough of getting into trouble,” he scolded us, and we laughed.
My family talked animatedly, even Will was with us. I found that Ash and he looked at each
other and didn’t look at each other, which I didn’t understand at all.
“Mr. Garnett, Mr. Russell,” a doctor looked at the large number of people in the room. “You’re
lucky, apparently everything is in order with you. We need to review the results of the studies.
You’ll be under observation; we want to see your evolution in the next few hours,” he told Nick.
I looked at him, and he kissed my neck, giving me a beautiful smile.
“How is the girl they brought in?” I questioned after losing myself for a few seconds in his
eyes.
“The pilot,” Nick asked.
“The woman is in intensive care. We’re treating the internal injuries from the blow to her head.
Her prognosis is positive overall. The young man is also in the ICU. He has burns that we’re
treating. His prognosis is guarded.”
I pressed Nick’s hands, hoping they would recover.
“My father, Killian,” Dominic looked at the doctor, and there was a great silence.
“Mr. Killian is in intensive care. He suffered second and third–degree burns on 70% of his body.
His condition is critical. The chances of survival are low. If he does, his recovery will be
complicated and painful.”
