CHAPTER 101: You Remembered Part 2
Alaia
“What’s going on?” Caty entered the house with a frightened look. Today was the day she was supposed to enroll in college.
“They kidnapped Noah,” Grace said, seeing that the question was directed at her. Nick’s sister walked towards us.
“What?” She looked at me, then at my daughter, searching for Noah, unable to believe her
mother’s words.
“Your grandfather, he took him along with Paula.”
“My grandfather?” she questioned with a shout. “Has he completely lost his mind? I knew something wasn’t right with him, Mom. You never listened to us.” Caty’s eyes welled up with
tears.
“They’ve deployed a full operation to rescue him. Nick will be back with him,” assured my grandfather, who hadn’t stopped making calls. The police tactical team had been authorized and had gone to the house Nick had indicated.
Caty approached me and caressed my little one’s back. The child looked at her and responded to her youngest aunt’s greeting in a low tone.
“I made dinner, in case any of you want something to eat. I prepared something special for the little angel.” Sophia came out of the kitchen, and everyone thanked her, but no one accepted. I decided to take my daughter to eat.
Ash, Tino, and Caty accompanied me. My little girl looked at her little brother’s empty seat and then at me, silently questioning.
“He’ll be back soon, my love.” Ash took her little hands, and my daughter nodded sadly.
I made her eat a little, as she seemed to have lost her appetite. Tino brought me a glass of water, the only thing my stomach would accept.
“We’ll have a night of dancing and singing with your aunts.” Tino tried to cheer up Alana, and she looked at him with those beautiful eyes. “What do you say, precious?”
My little girl nodded with a slight smile.
Once she finished, we went to the room so my daughter could be distracted and play with her
aunts and uncles.

CHAPTER 101: You Remembere
I could only think of my son, while the three of them danced and sang for Alana. I kept the phone in my hand the whole time. I didn’t know how much longer I could bear not knowing anything about my son, about Nick, about my mother.
Another couple of hours passed, and my little girl finally fell asleep. We all settled on the bed, surrounding Alana and watching over her sleep.
We were in bed in silence, but no one had slept except my daughter.
I closed my eyes for a moment and thought of Nick. I had a vision of him telling me, “I love you.” I was startled awake and opened my eyes, feeling the pain in my chest intensified.
I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash my face. I closed my eyes and saw Nick again. That was enough for me. I went to the closet to look for a coat.
“Cari, what’s wrong?” Ash got out of bed, followed by Tino. Caty had her arms around my
daughter but lifted her head to look at me.
“I feel something here.” I placed my palm on my chest. “I have to go there. I have to see them get out of there safely,” I said, my breathing ragged.
“But, honey, you can’t go. Are you crazy?” Tino took my hands. “We have no idea where they
are.”
“I’ll go crazy if I don’t hear from them any longer. I have the address.” I searched on my phone and showed them. They both widened their eyes. I had taken it down when one of them had
given it to someone during a call.
“Please take care of her. I won’t put myself at risk.” I looked at my daughter. “I promise, I’ll be back before she wakes up.”
“Mother of God, sweet Jesus in heaven.” Tino put a hand on his chest, looking very worried.
“Be careful.” Caty took my hand. I hugged them, kissed my daughter’s cheek, and walked towards the door. But I knew the officers wouldn’t let me leave. I looked for the window and peeked out, then looked at Ash and Tino, who reluctantly helped me climb out so the fall wouldn’t be so bad.
I searched for a way out through the bushes and went looking for my car, which was parked on the road in front of the house.
I drove as fast as I could, and the officers barely noticed I was gone.
Almost two hours later, I arrived at the house. The flashing lights of the police cars told me I was in the right place. I clenched my fists and closed my eyes, praying to heaven that they
were safe.

CHAPTER 101: You Remembere…
I opened the car door and ran towards where everyone was frantically searching for a familiar face. My chest tightened when I saw my mother.
“Mom!” I shouted, but she couldn’t hear me. I saw that she was holding a small bundle in her arms. My chest rose and fell in anticipation.
“You can’t pass,” an officer stopped me.
“Try and stop me.” I pushed past him. “That’s my son, my mother.” I pointed, and the man
looked at me and then at my car.
“Alaia.” My father approached me, hugged me, and took me with him. The officer had no
choice but to let me follow.
“Mom,” I said when I was close to her, and she turned around. My hands were shaking. I had never feared for my mother; she was a strong woman and had taught me to be the same.
“My daughter,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. I hugged them both and closed my eyes, and my cheeks were wet with tears.
“My boy, my baby.” I wiped my tears and took Noah, kissing him over and over, crying with every “Mama” he uttered.
“Where’s Nick?” I managed to ask when I was finally aware that my son was in my arms.
“Nick went after Killian. Will went after him. We couldn’t stop him,” my mother said sadly.
“How long ago did it happen?” I asked anxiously.
“Ten, fifteen minutes ago.” My father ran a hand through his hair, and my peace of mind vanished once again.
I turned to look at the house just as a huge explosion erupted, making us duck down. I shielded Noah with my body. We were lost in the chaos for a moment until we managed to regain our bearings. That’s when I looked towards the flames, knowing that Nick was still in there. I felt my soul and my heart shatter.
“Nick!” I screamed, my legs giving way beneath me.
