ISABELLA’S POV
The atmosphere instantly turned serious after Lucas announced those words. Xavier and
Alpha Martin exchanged glances before they excused themselves and finally leave with
Lucas.
Seeing that the situation might be more urgent and serious, dread also crawled up in my chest. I turned to Luna Grace, who in turn gave me a small reassuring smile, though I could also sense her worry.
“Let’s leave it to them. It may just be some matters in the pack. Let’s have our lunch first.” She suggested, and all I could do was nod, despite feeling a sense of dread.
“Mommy, where is daddy and grandpa going?” Lily asked, her innocent tone full of curiosity.
I turned to her, sitting beside her was Liam who looked curious too.
“They have some business to attend to. You should eat first, and you’ll see them later. Is that okay?” I gently told them with Luna Grace nodding in agreement.
We spent the lunch with the twins‘ constant chatter while Luna Grace and I engaged with small conversations from time to time. Yet, oddly enough, the atmosphere felt strained. Except for the kids who were still young and innocent, me and Luna Grace could clearly sense that something was wrong.
Something must’ve happened.
After lunch, Luna Grace sent someone to inquire about the events that happened that required Xavier and Alpha Martin’s attention. But we were only told that Xavier and Alpha Martin were still at the borders and there was still no news about what exactly happened.
This time, Luna Grace and I exchanged worried glances. I could feel the dread in my heart growing even more as we waited.
It was not until an hour later when a pack warrior suddenly came asking for me.
“Luna Isabe… Miss Isabella…”
Upon taking a closer look, I realized that the pack warrior looks familiar. I can remember his name was Calix, and he was Jane’s mate. Jane was one of my closest aides back then.
“Calix, right?” I asked him to confirm.
He nodded at me, but his face showed as if he was in a deep hurry as he told me. “Miss

Isabella, Alpha Xavier is requesting for you at the borders.”
My heartbeat quickened after hearing that. Behind me, Luna Grace also stepped closer as she
inquired. “What exactly is happening there?”
“A rogue attack happened, and there’s someone whose heavily injured…” Calix respectfully responded.
“Take me there.” I finally agreed, sensing the sudden urgency and seriousness of the situation.
“I’ll stay and watch over my grandchildren.” Luna Grace said and reminded me, “Be careful.”
I nodded at her, before finally setting out with Calix as we made our way to the borders. As we approached, I noticed pack warriors tightly stationed around the area before I finally saw
Xavier’s figure, as well as Alpha Martin circling an area with other pack warriors.
As soon as I arrived, Xavier was the first one to notice my arrival as our eyes met for a
moment. But I hurriedly turn on my steps as soon as I saw some pack healers trying to treat
someone lying on the ground.
“What happened?” I asked as soon as I reached their side.
Xavier had a serious look on his face as he told me everything that happened. “We’ve been
receiving reports that rogues have been wandering nearby since yesterday. Just an hour ago,
one of our patrol guards has been attacked, and he’s gravely injured.”
I immediately realized the implication of his statement. I looked down to see the injured man,
but before I could, Marina, who also happened to be one of the healers who was trying to treat
the injured person stood up and approached me.
“Luna-…” She stopped right after she realized her address to me. But this time, I paid no heed
to it as I asked her in concern.
“How are his injuries?”
She shook her head, her face looking serious and somewhat hopeless. “We’ve been trying to do everything we could to treat his wounds, but his injuries are so serious…” Her voice lowered
after that.
“I’m afraid, he…” She trailed off with a complicated look on her face.
I frowned, finally stepping forward to look at the injured man. But then, I was momentarily
shocked when I saw the man’s somewhat familiar face.
Though his face was bloody, I could still make out his features clearly. And I’m sure I wasn’t
mistaken. He was the man I saw earlier whom I discovered had a similar voice to Xavier.

But I immediately snapped out of my sudden stunned stupor as soon as I recalled my purpose of seeing him. I took a glance at his injuries and noticed that he was indeed seriously injured
His wounds were almost the same as Xavier’s when he got injured back at the Bluemoon
Pack. But Xavier’s condition was even worse that time..
“Can you treat him?” Marina asked beside me.
My eyes darted towards Xavier for a moment, now realizing why he had requested me here. He knew I could cure this person, because I had treated him who had almost a similar condition like this in the past.
But then, that time, I used the secret technique used by Urduvas to treat his injuries. And I
couldn’t just perform it in front of many people. I could not risk exposing my identity.
However, seeing the mix of hopeful and dread look of others around, the sense of
responsibility as a healer started to kick in me. I knew I needed to treat this person, but it
means I needed to find a solution that can both save this man and not risk my identity being
exposed.
“Let’s bring him to the pack clinic first.” I suggested.
The other pack warriors looked as if they were somewhat hesitating, though I could
understand where they were coming from as we were still quite far away from the pack’s main
area. Getting this injured man there would take some time, but it was the only solution I could
think of.
Just then, I heard Xavier’s deep commanding tone rang out.
“What are you waiting for? Follow her instructions.” There was even a hint of impatience in his
voice that I started to wonder how important this injured man was to the pack that made
Xavier eager to treat him.
But then, in the past, I couldn’t even remember this man. I haven’t met him and didn’t even
know that someone like him, who had the same voice as Xavier, exist in this pack.
Xavier seemed to sense my thoughts as he stepped closer to me, his tone now softening as
he sighed and told me. “I’ll explain everything later.”
I didn’t expect him to say that, but then, I just nodded at him. We finally made our way to the clinic, where I requested to be alone with the injured man as I treated him.
“How is he?” Xavier asked as soon as I got out of the room, just finished treating the injured
man.
“He will survive.” It was the only thing I said, somewhat exhausted from the sudden healing

process.
“Bring some water.” Xavier suddenly ordered to one of the attendants, before I felt myself getting pulled to sit on a chair.
I looked up at him, only to see him frowning but his gaze held a concerned look that seemed directed to me. It made my breath hitched, but I decided to look away immediately.
It was only the two of us currently in this hallway of the pack clinic. He stood not too far away
from me. I could still feel his gaze on me, but the silence stretched between us for a few more minutes until I finally decided to ask.
That man… who is he?”
