and agent Perez nods.
“I need to see the layout first,” he says. “You can come tomorrow. I have to go into the office
for a meeting with an ex–employee at 12pm,” Zander says, and agent Perez agrees. “Perfect,

you handle the announcement?” he asks and Zander nods and sends a message on his
phone.
“Toby will handle the official announcement. Liz, will you contact Felicia at the lottery office? They would want to add the engagement to their story,” Zander says, and I nod. “They will definitely ask for a follow–up story and photo shoot of the two of us,” I say. “Even better for us. We need the word to spread. It may even draw Martha out, though I don’t think she will be that careless,” agent Perez says.
“Now, onto the other matter I wanted to discuss,” agent Perez says. “Elaine?” I ask, and he nods. “She wants to see you. You don’t have to agree, and I don’t know what she wants to say either. She gave us all the information she knew on Martha. She has been charged with the murder of your parents and a list of other charges. Her trial starts soon. The DA pushed for an earlier date because it’s such an old case,” he says, and I frown.

says.
“As for Tiffany, she tried to play the sympathy card, but we aren’t falling for it. Her trial starts in two days and I really think you should attend. Kyle is the co–accused, and he will be there as
well. The DA said that you won’t have to testify,” agent Perez says.
“Commander Carlson also called earlier to ask me if I was attending the trial. I will be there,
and for Elaine’s trial too. I want to see this all through.” I say and Zander smiles and squeezes
my hand. “I will be there with you, every step of the way,” he says, and I smile.
“So we all have our assignments. Can we have the engagement party next week Friday?”
agent Perez asks. “That’s perfect. We can have everything arranged by then,” Zander says. “I
will have a team ready, and I will come see you tomorrow at the office. Thank you for a lovely
dinner, but I really need to get back,” agent Perez says, standing up to leave.
“It was a pleasure having you. Thank you for all your help with everything.” I say, and he smiles
and Zander sees him out. “I will see you all tomorrow, I have a date with your feisty friend, and
she doesn’t like to be kept waiting,” Ricardo says and I chuckle. “Enjoy,” I say, and he smiles
and leaves.
“Well, I don’t have a date, but I do need to leave too,” Chris says, making me laugh. “And why
don’t you have a hot date? You are so secretive when it comes to your love life. I am not
prying, I just want you to know that I am pretty good at playing cupid,” I say, and he chuckles.
“There is someone I have my eye on. I just don’t know if he feels the same. He is a bit younger than me. My last relationship ended horribly, so I don’t know if I am ready to take the plunge just yet,” Chris says and I nod. “Well, he would be a fool to turn you down. You are a perfect 10 in my book. Let me know if you need my help,” I say and he chuckles. “I will, thank you, Liz. Good night, see you tomorrow,” he says, and I walk him out.
When everyone is gone, Zander and I head upstairs. It’s been another long day and I can see the rest of the week going the same. I am so tired and it’s only Tuesday. “Are you really okay with having an engagement party? It’s going to be a very public event. Once word spreads, all my business associates will want to attend. They will see it as a business event,” Zander says while we get undressed to shower.
