Chapter 46: Trying for Normal
Zander
Our eyes are glued to the monitors watching everything go down. One minute they are getting
into place, and the next minute everything is chaotic. When I see the first person get shot, I pull Liz into my arms, and she buries her head in my chest. She doesn’t need these images in
her mind.
I am
It’s chaotic out there, the cartel men are being gunned down by Dom’s team and the FBI. I
so happy to see our side are wearing vests. I watch as Kyle tries to slip away amidst the
chaos, but Chris grabs him and ties his hands with zip ties. Thank God Chris saw him trying
to flee.
Within 6 minutes, everything was over. I kept my eyes glued to Horis and agent Johnson, to
make sure they got them. It was still very chaotic out there and very sad to see FBI agents
being handcuffed along with cartel members. A few minutes passed before Jojo alerted us to
someone at the door.
Ricardo opened the door and I have never been so happy to see him. “Is it all over?” I asked
him. “We got everyone that was here, but I can’t say for sure if it’s over. We are waiting for Perez’s other team to get back to us. They went after the rest of the cartel.” Ricardo says, and I
nod.
“I just came to check on you. Maybe you should take Liz upstairs and keep her covered.” He says and I nod. I caught his meaning, and I was thinking the same. I pick her up in my arms, and she buries her head in my chest again so that her face is closed. “Don’t look, my Liz.” I whisper in her ear and kiss the top of her head and she nods.
I carry her upstairs and I don’t look around either, I look straight ahead to where I am walking. I don’t stop for anything until I am in our room. I close the door with my foot and lay her down on the bed and lay down next to her. “Are you okay, my Liz?” I ask. “No, but I will be when this
is all over.” She says and snuggles into my arms.
She must be tired, it is after midnight already. I hold her and soothe her until she falls asleep. When I know she is in a deep sleep, I get up slowly so I don’t wake her. I need to check in with everyone and make sure our side is okay. When I get downstairs, all the bodies were covered
with sheets.
I don’t see any of the other men, so they must’ve taken them away already. “Please tell me you got Kyle?” I ask agent Perez when I see him. “We did, thanks to Chris.” He says and I nod. “I

saw that on the surveillance feed. How are you feeling?” I asked him.
“My head still hurts, but I am okay. I am glad we got them. We just arrested 32 men that I have been working with for years. This is truly a sad day for the bureau.” He says. “I am sorry agent Perez, I know this must be hard for you. I am very grateful to you for everything you have done
for me and Liz.” I say.
“You are welcome, Zander. We got word back from the team and the raids were successful.
The only problem is that they didn’t find Tiffany or Elaine at any of their hideouts.” Agent Perez
says. “That is a problem, those two can’t be trusted. Elaine killed Liz’s parents. The DA is
building a strong case and they will arrest her soon. As for Tiffany, well you know what she is
capable of,” I said, and he nodded.
“We will find them. Tiffany is in deep s**t. The warden doesn’t take kindly to escapees, and
they killed his men.” He says and I nod. When everything is done and all the bodies have been collected, I finally say good night to Chris and Ricardo who are staying over. It’s so late, I don’t
want them to drive home and I know that Robyn and Rosa are safe and okay.
I got into bed next to Liz and pulled her into my arms. She snuggles into me and I smile. She always looks for my body heat. I am surprised she didn’t wake up and look for me. I kissed her on the top of her head, and closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep.
I opened my eyes and smiled at the sight before me. Liz is staring at me with bright eyes and a naughty smile on her face. “Need some help?” she asks me, showing to my d**k with her eyes, and I chuckle. “Your help is always needed.” I say. She kisses me and deepens the kiss
and I just let her.
She straddles me and I grab her hips and grind her down on me, and she moans into my mouth. I allow her to do what she wants to me, I know she needs this. So many things were out of her control, but this, us, she can always rely on. I will be there for whatever she needs.
We made love and after, I held her tightly in my arms. “How are you feeling today, my Liz?” I asked after a few minutes of silence. “I think I am okay. Did they get Kyle?” she asks, looking up at me, and I nod and fill her in. As expected, she wasn’t happy to hear about Tiff and Elaine. But I know we will get through this, as long as we are together.

Last night was horrible, and I am so grateful Zander shielded me from the worst of it. I am just glad no one on our side got hurt. I am a little pissed that Tiff and Elaine got away, but I have
faith that they will be caught.
Robyn just left, after spending the day with me. The driver took her home, and now I am still

waiting for Zander to get home. He spent most of his day giving statements, and he had to go to the office. Two of Ricardo’s men are still here, and they will be until Tiff and Elaine are
caught.
At least now, I can actually leave the house, though I didn’t go anywhere today. I just wanted to spend time with my bestie. I did see a little spark between her and Ricardo and I must say I don’t hate it. He is a great guy and perfect for her. Maybe he is the one that can finally tame
the crazy beast named Robyn.
I chuckle out loud at my thoughts and Zander chooses that moment to walk in. He must think I am crazy. I am literally sitting and laughing by myself. “What’s going on in that beautiful mind of yours?” He asks me and I tell him my thoughts and he chuckles too.
“I am not sure if I want to subject Ricardo to her type of crazy,” Zander says and we both laugh. “Maybe he is the right one to calm that crazy storm.” I say and he nods. “Maybe, and Ricardo has been single for a while.” Zander says and I smile. “Look at us playing cupid.” I say
and he chuckles.
“I just want everyone to be as happy as we are.” He says and kisses me. “You are such a hopeless romantic,” I say. “Only since I met you.” He says and I smile. It feels good to go back to normal. “How was your day?” I asked him. “Long, but I got a lot done.
They still haven’t found Tiff and her mom, but they won’t give up the search. They are both seen as wanted fugitives now. The DA took your parents‘ case before a judge, and he granted a trial and signed a warrant for her arrest. Soon you will get justice for your parents,” Zander says, and I can’t help but get emotional.
He holds me in his arms and this is the place I always feel the safest and loved. “Thank you for helping me get the closure I didn’t even know I needed, Zander.” I say. “It’s my job as your fiancé and soon to be husband, to always give you exactly what you need.” He says and I
chuckle.
“Well, your fiancé and soon to be wife, appreciates you and everything you do for her.” I said, looking up at him. “I honestly don’t know where I would be if not for you.” I said. “You will never find out, because I will always be by your side. What do you want to do tonight?” he asked me.
“It’s already late, but maybe we can do something tomorrow night. We haven’t been out in a while.” I say and he nods. “Dinner and a movie?” he asks, and I nod. “Just Zander and Liz in jeans and sneakers.” I say and he chuckles. “That sounds just perfect.” he says.

his shoulder and marches out of the kitchen with me. “Zander! Put me down, dinner is ready,” I
said. He slaps my butt and I squeal while he chuckles.
“I would much rather have you for dinner,” he says and marches up to our room. He doesn’t
stop until he has locked the door, and has thrown me down on the bed in a dramatic fashion,
with me giggling all the way. He starts undressing, and I just lay there and watch him.
He really is perfect. Everything about him is just perfect. When he is completely naked, he gives me a look with one eyebrow raised. “You are wearing way too many clothes my Liz. Do you need help?” he asked me. “I would much rather admire your beautiful body,” I said.
He grabs my legs and pulls me closer to him. “You can admire all you want, after I have my way with you.” He says and starts undressing me. I relent and help him, because he keeps tickling me. He did exactly what he wanted, and had me for dinner and then some.
When we eventually did go down, we had dinner and a glass of wine out on the patio. “It feels good to have the place to ourselves again,” he says and I nod. “It almost feels like our lives are back to normal.” I say and he nods. “That’s all we can try for. We also need to start making wedding plans. I don’t want to wait any longer for you to be my wife,” he says.
“Mrs. Elizabeth Caine has a very nice ring to it.” I say and he nods. “It does, it sounds very sexy. It sounds like round two.” He says, and I look at him confused and he chuckles. “Finish your wine, I want to take, ‘the almost Mrs. Zander Caine‘ up to our room for round two.” he said, and I laughed so hard, I spilled my wine.
