Chapter 43: Family Ties
Kyle
I am in deep s**t, but these two are my ticket to freedom. I have never been into cougars, but
we do what we must to survive. The younger one is a little obsessive and crazy, but as long as
she keeps Zander away from Liz, I am all for it. He deserves to end up with a crazy b***h after
he meddled in my business.
All I asked for in return for the information I gave them, is to get Tiffany set free. I don’t love
her per se, but I may still need her. They agreed, and I was surprised at the power the mother
holds. She may look sweet, but I can see how vicious she is underneath.
At least I don’t need to hide out in that dump anymore. I have been upgraded to a condo that
Martha owns. I don’t know what their plans are for Liz and Zander, but as long as I get the
cartel off my back, I will be happy. Besides, Liz deserves whatever they have planned. She tried to keep billions away from me, now she will end up with nothing. Karma is a b***h.
“Are you ready? They are leaving soon.” Martha says when she comes walking into my room. I still don’t see why I have to go with you.” I say. “You want that child set free, then you have to get your hands dirty.” She says. “Yeah whatever, just make sure nothing goes wrong. Remember, you still need me.” I say and she smirks.
“Come swing by my room later, I will show you what I need.” She says in a seductive way. Like I said, I am not into cougars, but this woman knows what she is doing. She is even better than Tiff. “As soon as Tiff is asleep. So, you better make sure nothing goes wrong.” I said, and she
rolled her eyes.
”
“Only you or that b***h of yours can mess this up. My men are trained and know what they are doing. You will see for yourself.” She says and, with a wink, and leaves the room. I get dressed and when I am ready, I head to the lounge. Martha is talking to a man, and she winks when
she sees me. My blood runs cold the minute the man turns and looks at me.
“Hello Kyle, did you miss me?” he asks. “Horis, what are you doing here?” I asked him in shock. “Breaking your b***h out of prison it seems. Your bill just keeps growing, doesn’t it?” he says in a menacing tone. I look at Martha and she smiles sweetly. f*****g b***h sold me out.
“How do you know each other?” I asked and Horis chuckled. “Martha or shall I say, Maria is my sister and the brains behind my business. She led me right to you and an even bigger pay day.” Horis says. “You are after my ex, aren’t you?” I ask and he nods.

“I can’t believe you left that hot mama for that puta. [slut] Must I teach you everything? A puta is not marriage material. Now we have to work extra hard to get that money. If you stayed married to her, you could’ve just taken it. You really are an i***t,” Horis says.
“I didn’t know she won the lottery, Horis. And then that f*****g attorney she is banging, got me
fired. I know he is behind it.” I say and Horis chuckles. “He probably is, but we have something
planned for him. But let’s talk about you. This is your last chance, Kyle. I don’t offer second
chances, but my sister convinced me that you can still be of help to me.” Horis says, and I
nod.
“I will do whatever you need,” I say and he smirks. f*****g asshole, he knows he has me by the
balls either way. “Now, enough with the heavy. Let’s go get your puta.” He says and I just nod. I
follow him out of the door and see a black SUV parked outside. I really don’t feel good about
this, but I don’t have a choice.
We get in at the back of the van and leave. I don’t know what the plan is, but I am definitely not asking Horis. I am already on thin ice with him. “We gave your wife two days to get ready to
pay. Tomorrow, we will call her and give her instructions.” Horis says, breaking the silence.
“What if she doesn’t pay?” I asked and he smiled broadly. “Then we do it the hard way. Either way, that money will be ours,” Horis says, and I nod. As angry as I am at Liz, I don’t want Horis
to harm her. I have seen what he can do, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. She had better be smart and pay the money.
“How do you plan on getting to her? I have been to that fucker’s house and security is tight,” I say and he chuckles. “They aren’t even staying there anymore. Don’t worry, I have someone on the inside. We will get what we want and then some.” Horis says as we pull up to the prison.
This fucker has people everywhere. Why did I think I would ever be free of him? I am really starting to realize that I f****d up big time.
Liz
I feel like I am on autopilot. I keep hoping I will wake up and realize that it is all a dream. Now we have two FBI agents living in Zander’s parents‘ house. Two f*****g FBI agents! I have never hated anyone as much as I do Kyle for bringing this danger into our lives. Two months ago, I was still madly in love with him, things surely have changed.
“I am so sorry for bringing so much danger into your life, Zander.” I said when we were in our room, getting ready for bed. “It’s not your fault, my Liz. Please stop tormenting yourself. I promised to keep you safe, and I keep my promises.” He says, pulling me into his arms.
“Let’s get into bed, you had a long day.” he says, and I nod. He holds me in his arms and try to

sleep. But my mind is filled with thoughts of this cartel, and Kyle. When I know Zander is asleep, I get up slowly so I don’t wake him. I need to clear my mind.
I put on my bathing suit and headed to the indoor pool. Swimming always calms me and I really need calm right now. I just got in the water, when I heard a sound coming from the door.
I stay still and quiet, but I don’t see anyone.
Maybe I am so paranoid that I am hearing things now. I took my first lap and could feel my body relax a bit. I always felt so light and free in the water. After my fourth lap, I took a break and leaned against the edge of the pool. When I looked up, I saw one of the FBI agents
standing watching me.
“You gave me such a fright,” I said, clutching my chest. “I am sorry mam, I heard you leave your room, so I came to check. You shouldn’t be roaming around alone. Even inside the house. “He says and I nod. “I am sorry, I just needed to clear my mind.” I say and he nods. “That’s
understandable, but please don’t venture off alone.” he says.
I get out of the water and grab my towel to dry off. I see the way he is looking at me and I don’t like it. Something about his demeanor bothers me, but I can’t put it into words. I quickly put
the towel around myself and walked to the door. “Thank you for accompanying me. I am heading to bed. Please get some rest, I will put the alarm back on.” I say, and he nods and
follows behind me, but doesn’t say anything.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I entered our room and closed the door. That felt really uncomfortable. Zander stirs when I lock the door and sits up. “Where did you go?” he asks me in his raspy sleepy voice. “For a swim, I couldn’t sleep.” I say. “Why didn’t you wake me?” he
asks.
“You need your rest, Zander. One of the agents watched over me.” I say. “Did you ask him to go with you?” he asks, frowning. “No, when I came out of the water, he was there.” I say and he nods and frowns again. “Just be careful around them. Come back to bed,” he said. I am sure
he also feels weird about having them here.
“Let me just rinse off, then I will get back into bed.” I say and he nods and lays back down. I take a quick shower and get right back into bed. I try to sleep and when I finally drift off, the ringing of Zander’s phone wakes me. He sits up and switches on the bedside lamp.
He frowns when he sees the caller ID, but answers anyway. “Do you know what time it is?” Zander asks the person that called. I can’t hear what they are saying, I just know it’s a man
with a deep voice. “What! How?” Zander yelled, sitting up straighter.
“What do you mean she just walked out? How is that even possible?” Zander asks, clearly

frustrated. “How many were hurt?” he asks. “f**k! Okay, keep me posted.” Zander says and sighs when he hangs up. “Everything okay?” I ask him when he puts the phone down.
“No, that was Chris, the Pl, I told you about. Tiffany escaped prison. According to the footage, a guard just walked her out of the prison and into a black van, before they shot him. Whoever
came to get her, shot another three guards when they rushed out after hearing the gunshot.”
Zander says, and my eyes widen.
“What the f**k? Who would break her out of prison?” I asked in utter shock. “I don’t know, but I
have a feeling it’s the cartel. I don’t know what they want from her though. She doesn’t have money.” Zander says, deep in thought. What next? I don’t know how many more surprises I can
stomach.
Zander takes another phone out of the nightstand drawer and sends a text message. “Is that your phone?” I ask him and he nods. “It’s an encrypted phone. I will tell you all about it tomorrow. Get some sleep, my Liz.” He says, and I nod, even though I know I won’t. How can I, after what I just heard?
I tossed and turned for most of the night and when I opened my eyes, it’s morning and Zander wasn’t in bed. I could hear him talking, so I got up and put on my nightgown and looked for him. I find him at the door, talking to the two agents.
They seem to be filling him in on the Tiffany situation. But judging by his answers, he is acting like he didn’t already know. Something is definitely going on with Zander. He also never keeps things from me, so this is very strange. I have to speak to him about it.
