Chapter 35: Some Mother’s Daughters.
Liz
While we were chatting with one of the kids, Martha Silverman approached us. “Zander darling, can I steal you away for a moment? I have an important matter to discuss.” She says, not even acknowledging me or the little boy we were talking to.
“I am a bit busy, and now isn’t the time to discuss business. We are here for the kids,” Zander says. “Please, Zander. I need your help.” She says and he looks at me. “It’s fine, go.” I say and he nods and they walk away. The little boy’s mom came to get him, and I headed to the bar for
a drink.
I’ve done so much talking, my throat is parched. I had just taken the juice from the bartender, when someone bumped into me. Luckily, I didn’t mess on myself, mostly on the counter. I turned and saw that it’s f*****g Keira. I am sure she did that on purpose.
“I don’t suppose I will get an apology,” I say and she scoffs. “You should apologize to me. How dare you seduce Zander and steal him away from me?” she said. “Oh Lord, please save me from this idiot.” I said, and rolled my eyes. “Look Keira, is it? I can’t steal something from your
that was never yours.
The relationship you think you have with Zander is all in your head. Get yourself checked out and leave me and Zander alone. We could do without your crazy.” I said, and left with half a glass of juice. I hear the bartender snicker, so I shoot him a wink. That seems to piss her off
more, because she stomps after me and grabs my arm.
“Where do you think you are going? I am not done talking to you,” she says. I pull my arm out. of her grasp, and look at her with one eyebrow raised. “But I am done listening. I don’t give at f**k what you have to say,” I said. She lifts her hand and tries to slap me, but I have been
through this before. I grab her hand and squeeze it hard and she screams loudly.
Zander is next to me in an instant. “What is going on here?” he asks. “She wants to talk about how I stole you from her, and I refused to listen. So, she tried to slap me, and I am no one’s punching bag.” I say and she glares at me. “What the f**k do you want, Keira? I told you to stay away from me and that includes my girlfriend,” Zander says.
“Are you okay, did she hurt you?” Martha asks Keira. “Really?” I ask and Zander just shakes
his head. “I demand you apologize to my daughter right now. Who do you think you are to lay a
hand on my daughter? Do you know who I am?” Martha asks. “Zander, it seems she has forgotten who she is. Should we get her some help?” I asked sweetly. Martha glares at me and

steps forward, but Zander steps in front of me. “Careful Martha,” he says.
“Look lady, you aren’t helping your daughter by feeding her delusions. She attacked me, after
she bumped into me expecting me to spill my drink on my dress. Then she accused me of seducing Zander and stealing him away from her. To my knowledge, they were never in at relationship. I walked away to avoid a scene, but she grabbed my arm.
When I refused to listen, she tried to slap me. You can ask the bartender, he watched her
whole performance. I don’t need to explain myself to you, or anyone. But Zander values you as a client, so I give you the benefit of the doubt. I had hoped that you weren’t as deluded as your daughter, but the evidence shows otherwise.
Zander has made it perfectly clear, and on numerous occasions, that he doesn’t want her. He is well within his right to press charges, after what she tried to do. Do yourself and your daughter a favor, and get her some help. The way she is acting is unbecoming of a lady, and it’s definitely bordering on obsession.” I said and took a sip of my juice. That was a mouthful
and I was already thirsty.
“You heard the lady. As much as I liked you, Martha, I can’t stand your daughter. She actually tried to drug me, so I would sleep with her. That isn’t normal behavior. But I can see now that you are encouraging her.” Zander says and offers me his arm, and I gladly accept it. “This isn’t over you b…” Keira yells, but when we look back, we see Martha covering her mouth and telling
her to shut up.
“Someone’s in trouble with mamma bear.” I said, and Zander chuckled. “I am eager to see what Martha will do now. But at the same time, I just want them both to stay away from me. I realized too late that Martha was just trying to keep me busy. I am sorry, Liz,” he said.
“It’s not your fault, I had a suspicion when Keira immediately approached me. Let’s forget about those two and enjoy the rest of our evening. I am really glad we came tonight. I made up my mind. I am donating all Kyle’s money to them. At least they can benefit from the pain and suffering he caused me.” I say, and Zander nods,
Martha and Keira disappeared right after the confrontation, and I am grateful for that. I just want to enjoy the evening and get to know some of the kids. We mingled some more, and before I left, I got their banking details, so I could transfer the funds to them.
These kids made me realize some things about myself. They didn’t let cancer get them down, they are surviving and thriving. It made my problems seem minor, so I decided to adopt their mindset. I won’t let anything derail my happiness or get me down.

I am so disappointed in Martha. How can she support Keira’s behavior? I guess I never really
knew her at all. I really need to start paying attention to women’s behavior, especially now that
I have Liz. I can’t lose her because of silly misunderstandings.
The rest of the night went much better. I hope they raised enough money, and I was happy Liz
decided to choose them. My mom helped co–fund the initiative when it first started. That is why it is so close to my heart. My mom didn’t just donate her money, but her time too. She would visit the kids in the hospital and read to them.
I can see Liz looks tired, so I suggest we head home and she agrees. When we got home, we both went straight to bed. I really wanted to make love to her, but she looked so tired. I know her body is still sore after her first workout, so I will behave myself.
The next few days just flew by. I handled everything at work I needed to, so I could free myself up for our trip. It’s now time for Liz to see the doctor that we were referred to. I can sense her nervousness, but she has nothing to fear. Dr Willis would never send us to someone who
would harm her.
“Are you worried about meeting Dr. Lubbe?” I ask her as we drive to the appointment. “No, I am nervous and worried about what I may remember.” She says and I nod. “I will be there with you every step of the way. If you feel you want to leave at any time, we can.” I said.
“I need to see this through, I want answers. I just can’t shake the feeling that I won’t like the answers I find.” She says. I have that same feeling, but I won’t comment. I will just be there for her. I truly believe her aunt had done something to her. It could’ve been too traumatic, so she
blocked the memory.
I will make sure to keep her away from her aunt, no matter what she discovers. She made it clear she didn’t care about Liz when I spoke to her. We headed inside, and the doctor was actually younger than I expected. He is a good–looking man with a very warm smile..
“Welcome Ms. Ferley, Mr. Caine, please have a seat.” Dr. Lubbe says, “You can just call us Liz and Zander.” I say before she can and she smiles. “Perfect. Dr Willis gave me a bit of background, but I would like to hear from you. What brings you here today?” he asks.
Liz tells him the whole story, from what the doctor said after the accident, to the dream she had. She even told him about how she felt about her aunt. He asked her a lot of questions as he went along. I didn’t interfere. I just sat with her and held her hand.
“There are a few options we could try to help jog your memory. But I have a feeling it’s at the forefront of your mind, waiting to be set free. If you agree, I would like to put you under
hypnosis. I know it’s a bit irregular, but I have had a lot of success with this technique.

Chapter 35: Some Mother’s Day….
While you are in a state of relaxation, I will guide you to the day in question. Hopefully we will
get the answers we need.” The doctor says and Liz looks at me. “It’s your choice,” I say and she nods. “Let’s try it.” she says and he nods. “What did your parents call you?” he asks.”
Lizzie,” she says smiling. “Okay, I would prefer to do this without your presence, Zander. But
Wayne has already informed me about your stubbornness to leave Liz’s side,” the doctor says,
and both he and Liz chuckle.
“I need you to stay quiet throughout the process. You cannot speak, she needs to focus on one
voice and there can be no interruptions.” He says with a stern look. “Understood,” I say, and he
nods. He tells Liz to lie down on the sofa and close her eyes. He pulls up a chair and sits
down close to her face.
He starts with controlled breathing. He tells her to breathe in over a count of 7, and then
breathe out over a count of 11. He has her do that a few times, and I am tempted to try it
myself, but I need to focus on her. He agreed that I could record this, as he is doing the same
for his notes.
He then tells her to visualize herself walking down a set of stairs. She must walk slowly down
the stairs until it gets dark. When it’s too dark to see, she will reach out and find a door. “Do
you
feel the door, Liz? Reach out for the handle and open the door.” He says after a while.
“The door is open, but I can’t see anything.” She says in a dreamy voice. “Take a few steps
inside, and you will see your father’s car. Get in the back seat and wait for your parents,” he
says. “I see my dad’s car, I will go sit at the back.” she says.
‘Bingo‘, he mouths to me. God, I hope this works. She deserves some answers.
