“Do you have an appointment that I am not aware of? I thought your case was handled.” Giselle says, looking me over with a look of distain. “No, I don’t need any help. I am here to see

Zander.” I said, and she did not look impressed. “If you are here to see him, then you can see me. I handle most of his cases,” she says.
“Its personal, so no, thank you.” I said and went back to scrolling my phone. “Listen here, I don’t know what you are up to with Zander, but its best you stop immediately. He won’t go for the likes of you.” She says with a sneer. Bingo, there is the real you, claws and all. I knew it
was all an act.
“And why is that?” I asked her and pressed the record function on my phone. “Ha, look at you.
What can you possibly offer him? You couldn’t even hold onto your first husband. He will end
up in my bed soon. I haven’t spent the last year cozying up to him for nothing. I won’t let a
gold–digging w***e stand between me and my end goal.” She sneers. “And what is this said
end goal of yours?” I asked sweetly.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” she says. “Well, you just said I won’t win. I am clearly not in the
same league as you are. So why not tell me, one woman to the next,” I said. “If you must know,
when I get him, and I will, by any means necessary. This firm and everything he owns, will be
mine.” She says, polishing her nails on her jacket. “Now who is the gold–digger?” I ask.
“You f*****g b***h! Get out of my building, right now, before I have you escorted out.” She says and I roll my eyes. “Your building? I will leave when Zander asks me to.” I say, and she grabs my arm and tries to pull me up. “Let go of me,” I say, and pull my arm out of her grip. She made sure to scratch my skin, and drew blood when she let go. She smirks victoriously when
she sees the blood.
I get up, and I am about to slap her, but I hear a voice that makes me stop. “What the f**k is going on here?” Zander asks. Her eyes widen as she looks at me, and then she changes her expression, and turns to face Zander. “I am so glad you are here, Zander. This woman tried to attack me.” she says, touching Zander’s arm, acting like a wounded animal.
He takes her hand off him and moves away from her, and comes over to me. “I attacked you? Funny that I am the one bleeding,” I say. “I was only defending myself,” she says and I chuckle. “Yeah right.” I say. “Are you okay?” Zander asks me, checking my arm. “I am fine, some kitties
still need to be house–trained.” I say, and I hear Toby snicker, while she glares at me.

“Apologize immediately,” Zander says, not looking up, he is busy cleaning the blood off my
arm. “You heard him, apologize, right now.” Giselle says smirking. “He is talking to you,” I say
rolling my eyes, and she looks at Zander. “Apologize, now Giselle,” Zander says. “But I didn’t do anything, she is the one that’s here to seduce you. And she attacked me when I asked her to
leave,” she says.
“She can seduce me all she wants. Apologize, now.” he says. “I won’t apologize to her, I did nothing wrong.” she says, crossing her arms. “Did you forget we have cameras, Giselle? Liz, would you like to press charges for assault? I know a good attorney that can help you.” Toby says, nodding at Zander, and that makes me chuckle.
“No, it’s okay, as long as she apologizes, I can let it go. I’m a big girl.” I say, and Zander looks at me and I just smile. “I am sorry for defending myself.” She says, looking very unapologetic.
“Giselle,” Zander warns. “Would you like to see the footage boss, I have it right here. It’s very
clear and so is the sound.” Toby says from his desk. I really like that man, he is always ready.

“Last chance, Giselle,” Zander says. “Okay fine, I am sorry. But I was just trying to protect you and this firm,” she says. “Protect me from what? Why would I need protection from my girlfriend?” he asks and her eyes widen. “Your what?” she asks with wide eyes. “Liz is the love of my life. The only reason you are still standing here, getting another chance, is because you are good at your job. I won’t let you bully my girlfriend,” Zander says.

“I am truly sorry Zander, I didn’t know. Sorry Elizabeth, I misjudged you. I thought you were
trying to seduce him and take his money” she says, trying to act all innocent. “Oh, like you are? Were you scared I would beat you to it?” I asked and she glared at me. “I don’t know what you are talking about,” she said.
“Oh really? Maybe you need a refresher.” I said and took my phone and played the voice note.
Zander listens and I can see he is getting angrier the more he hears. She is just standing
there, looking at me with wide eyes, trying to get the phone out of my hand. “I already called security boss.” Toby shouts from his desk.
“Thank you, Toby. Please have someone pack up Giselle’s desk too.” Zander says. “Zander, it
isn’t what it looks like. She tricked me. I would never do anything to harm you for this firm.
This job is my life, I can’t lose it or you.” She pleads. “I think it’s exactly how it looks. Even
before Liz came along, you had ulterior motives.
I warned you the first time you tried to make a pass at me, and I thought you had learned your lesson. Clearly, I was wrong. I am well within my right to fire you. I can’t trust you anymore, so I will have your desk packed up, and your things sent to your home.” Zarder says, and she

starts crying, and I just roll my eyes.
“Please don’t do this, Zander, I love you,” she says. “You just said you love my money and
status. Besides, you don’t know a damn thing about me. Stop making a fool of yourself and leave my building. You know what your contract says, so don’t even try to contact any of this firm’s clients. You know me, I won’t go easy on you if you f**k with my business,” Zander says.
He takes my hand and leads me into his office, while she yells and pleads after him. He closes his office door and pulls me over to the couch. “I am so sorry Liz,” he says. “It’s okay, I am fine. I am sorry you lost such a good employee.” I say. “Are you really?” he asks with one eyebrow raised. “No,” I say and he chuckles.
“I told you she liked you.” I said. “Don’t gloat, it’s unbecoming of a lady,” he says, and we both chuckle. “When she first started, she used to throw herself at me. I made it clear that I was not interested and lodged a complaint with HR. Even the boss has to follow procedure.
In fact, especially me, because I have the most to lose when things go wrong. She stopped her advances, and we worked so well together. She has a brilliant mind and the clients love her. I just didn’t realize that she was up to something. I allowed her to fool me,” he says. I can see he is upset and now I feel really bad.
“Why don’t you keep her on and give her a warning? I personally am not upset, and I will forget what happened.” I say, but he shakes his head. “No, I can never trust her again. Her intentions were to harm me and this firm. It doesn’t matter how good of an attorney she is,” he says, and
gets up
and goes to the bathroom in his office. He comes back out with a first aid kit and sits
down next to me again.
He starts cleaning the scratches so tenderly. But I can’t help but wince at the sting. The scratches are actually quite deep. “That kitty’s claws are really sharp. Maybe I need a rabies shot.” I say and he chuckles and shakes his head. “I really am sorry. I would never have imagined that she would get physical with you,” he says. “I am fine Zander, and its not your
fault.” I say and kiss his cheek.
He pulls me into his arms and holds me, until someone knocks on the door. “Come in,” he says and Q peeks his head in the door. “Sorry to bother, I just came to check if you are both okay.” He says and Zander shows him to come in. “I am so sorry Liz. If I had known her
intentions, I wouldn’t have left you alone with her.” He says to me.
“It’s not your fault Q. I figured she would show her true nature, but I was also not expecting her to be that aggressive. I was about to slap her when Zander came.” I say and he chuckles. “Bad
timing dude, she needed a good slap.” Q says and we both chuckle.

“First name basis already?” Zander asks, giving us both a look with one eyebrow raised. “We met while I was waiting for you. That’s when Giselle came looking for Q and saw me.” I said and he nodded. “It was nice to meet you Liz, hopefully we will see more of you. Let me know if you need help with your exam.” He says and winks at Zander, before he leaves.
“Will do, it was nice meeting you too Q.” I yelled after him. “He seems like a great guy,” I said. ” He is, and he is excellent at his job. When he believes in something, he is like a dog after a bone. He won’t stop until he wins,” Zander says, chuckling. “I like what–I have seen of your
staff, minus Giselle.” I say, and we both chuckle.
“Lunch is probably cold and ruined now.” I said. “It’s okay, we can go grab lunch in the
cafeteria. Their food is okay, not as good as yours and Rosa’s though.” He says and I chuckle.
“I will need to stay a bit longer now. I need to go through Giselle’s cases and contact her
clients. But you can head home if you like. I will ask the driver to collect me.” Zander says. “In
that case, you wait here. I will go get the food, and then I can help you sort through her files.” I
said, and he smiled and kissed me softly.
