Chapter 21: Finally Free
Liz
It’s been nearly two weeks and I have never been happier. The only thing that still needs to be
done regarding my divorce, is for the court to make the payments. I really don’t want any of
Kyle’s money, but I did agree to get some payback.
I am feeling much better, and I have only left the house once, and that was for my checkup.
Zander has been amazing and so attentive. He really is a great guy, and I am very lucky to
have him in my life. I just wish this whole divorce procedure would be over so that Zander and
I can start our new life together.
He hasn’t touched me yet, and all we do is kiss. I know he wants more and so do I. But he
wants me to heal properly, and the cast can only come off in a few days. He is worth the wait,
so I will be a good girl and not do anything to set back my recovery.
We still haven’t been able to locate Mary, and I am actually starting to worry. What are the
odds of her going to the park for the first time, the day she met me? I hope she is okay and
that we find her. Zander did find footage of her entering the park, so I know she really exists.
When I cash in my lottery ticket, she should get her share.
I haven’t heard anything from Kyle, which I am ecstatic about. Zander said they packed up and
left the day after the mediation. Robyn has since moved in and Zander actually did hire a
cleaning service to clean and sanitize the house first. I thought it was damn hilarious.
Zander got Robyn a job at one of his companies and she started last week. That also means don’t get to see her every day anymore. But I am happy for her and I have Rosa to keep me company. I have also been going through Zander’s law books to brush up on my knowledge.
I think I should take Zander up on his offer to work for him. I will need the experience if I want to pass the bar. I want to put what I learned to use. I didn’t go to law school to stay at home. I allowed Kyle too much power over me, and now is my chance to start living again. I am
putting myself first now.
Zander said he would help me with whatever I needed. But first, I need to collect my winnings.
I want all that out of the way before I can focus on work. Zander told me what was expected
of me once I cashed in my winning ticket. I don’t feel good about it, but I don’t have much of a
choice. I know that once my name is out there, Kyle, Tiff and my aunt will try to get their
hands on it.

I will just have to be one step ahead of them at all times. I won’t allow them to disrupt my life any more than they already have. Lam determined to live my life the way I want. The detective in charge of Tiffany’s case came to see me. Her trial will start next month, so I know either her or Kyle will make an appearance before then.
They still think that it’s my fault that she will end up in jail. I never pressed any charges, I was in a coma for goodness‘ sake. But it seems like those two idiots blame everyone else when things don’t go their way, but never themselves. I hope that b***h knows that if she tries to harm me again, I will fight back.
I can’t believe it came to this. When I took her in, I thought we had finally buried the hatchet. We used to play together when she was little, but things changed when I went to stay with my grandparents. I think it was her mom’s doing, but it doesn’t matter anymore. There is no repairing the relationship after what she did.
“What are you thinking about?” Zander says, kissing my cheek and breaking me out of my thoughts. “You like to sneak up on me, don’t you?” I ask him and he chuckles. “I have been calling your name for the past few minutes.” he says. “I was just thinking about everything and how much my life has changed since I met you.” I say.
“I hope it’s for the better,” he says and I smile. “Yes, more than better. It’s great, actually.” I say and giggle. “I come bearing good news,” he says. “Please do share,” I answer. “By tomorrow, your divorce will be completely finalized. They are making the p*****t tomorrow.” Zander says,
and I squeal.
“Thank God, I was just thinking how I can’t wait for all this to be over. I can’t wait to start my new life with you, Zander.” I said and kissed him softly and hugged him. “I feel the same, Liz. I have the perfect thing planned for after you cash in your lottery ticket,” he says.
“What?” I asked. “After you have done your interviews and everything is done, we are going on.
from a vacation. We need some time away from all of this, and it’s my way of protecting you any backlash.” Zander says and I smile. “That is actually a good idea. But are you sure it’s okay? What if Kyle does something stupid?” I asked.
“All the more reason for us to disappear for a few days. Toby will keep an eye on things and let us know if he tries anything. We have a Pl on retainer if he needs him.” Zander says. “Okay, then I am in. I can’t wait,” I say, and he chuckles. We chat a bit more before we have dinner.
After dinner and a movie, we went to our separate rooms. We still don’t sleep in the same bed, which is actually better. The temptation is less that way. After a nice relaxing soak in the tub, I went straight to bed. I am really excited to see how everything will go over the next few days.

Chapter 21:Finally Free
Zander
The next morning, I got up early and headed to the office. I have a few things I need to wrap up, and then I am heading back home. I want to be with Liz when we get the news that she is
officially divorced.
I decided that I really shouldn’t touch her until everything is finalized. Her being injured really kept my libido at bay. It’s literal torture to be near her all the time and not bury myself deep inside her. It doesn’t help that I have now seen her naked when I had to help her get dressed.
I was just wrapping up the last call, when my cellphone rang. I see it’s my contact at the court, so I answered immediately. “Hey man, tell me you have good news for me.” I said when I answered, and he chuckled. “I do, check your email. I scanned in a copy for you. You can send someone to me to get the original. You’re welcome, by the way,” he says.
“Thanks Ken, you are the man. Anything you need, just let me know.” I said. “I will hold you to it. Getting an IOU from The Zander Caine is priceless.” He says and I chuckle and shake my head. “Talk soon buddy, thank you again.” I say and hang up. I checked my email and printed.
out a copy of the divorce decree to take with me for Liz.
I let Toby know, and he agrees to go collect the original. I make one last call to Judge Barnes, and then I head back home. I call Liz while I am on my way and she answers immediately. Hey Zander, why did you leave so early?” she asks. I smile because I can imagine how she is
pouting now.
“I had something to take care of. I am on my way back now. I have a surprise for you that you are going to love. Get the champagne ready that I left in the fridge to chill. I will be there in a few minutes.” I say and she chuckles. “Okay, see you soon.” She says and I hang up.
I pull up in the driveway and the guard stops me. “Sir, there was a sports car parked out front, but they never got out of the car. I ran the license and it belonged to Ms. Liz’s ex–husband, but there was definitely a woman in the car,” Gary says. “Do you have a picture?” I ask him and he
nods.
I
I pulled over and got out and followed him to the camera room. He shows me the footage and I frown. That b***h must’ve found out where I live. I doubt that she knows that Liz is living here. The only way she could’ve seen her was if she came onto the premises. You can’t see anything from the gate, all you see are trees and then the driveway takes a bend.
I asked him to send a still image to my phone before I got back in my car and drove up to the house. I go inside and find Liz in the lounge, reading one of my law books. I am so proud of her for wanting to finally pass the bar exam. “Hey love,” I say as I walk in. “Hey Zander,

champagne is ready. What’s the surprise?” she asks and I chuckle.
I handed her the printed copy of the divorce decree and looked at it. She squeals and jumps up and throws her arms around me while I chuckle. “Thank you, Zander,” she says and kisses me. She deepened the kiss and kissed her back. After a while, we pull away and she smiles.
“I can’t explain how happy and free I feel right now,” she says. “Let’s drink to that.” I say and go. over to the bottle and pop the cork. I pour us each a glass and lift mine in the air. “To freedom and happiness,” I say. “To the first day of the rest of my life,” she says, lifting her glass. We
clink our glasses and take a sip.
“Would you like to go somewhere to celebrate?” I asked her. “Well, it’s still early, so why don’t I go down to the lottery office and cash in my ticket,” she said. “If that’s what you want. Then I can take you out for lunch after.” I say and she smiles. “That’s a plan,” she says.
She goes upstairs to change and so do I. I don’t think I need to look this formal for an afternoon out with her. When I am changed, I go check on her. I find her struggling to tie her boots, so I rush over and do it for her. “Thank you, kind sir,” she says, and I chuckle and lift her up. She grabs her bag and we head out.
I took one of the SUV’s, because you can’t see through the windows. I have a feeling that Tiffany will show her face here again. I don’t know how she found out where I live, but I’ll find
what she wants. I will tell Liz, but not today. I don’t want to spoil her good mood.
