“Why have I never heard of you?” I asked.
“Like I said, I was banished. Once someone is banished they are never mentioned again.” He
says.
“And you were in love with my mother?” I asked.
“Very much. She was everything to me. We were dating. She came to the house to see me one night and I wasn’t there. But my father was. And 9 months later, so were you.” He says.
“Your father raped your girlfriend.” I say.
“Yeah. I tried to follow what was happening with Stella as much as possible. But it wasn’t easy. And I tried to follow how you were going but again, it wasn’t easy. Not until you met
Alpha Asher.” He says.
“And you’ve been watching me ever since?” I asked.
“No ever since. But I’ve been keeping tabs. I know what you’re doing. I know that you’re trying
to stop him.” He says.
“I will try and stop that son of a b***h for the rest of my life. He doesn’t deserve to live. Not after everything he’s done.” I growled.
“I agree. He might be my father, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him dead either.” He says.
“And what are you going to do about it?” I asked.
“I was hoping that you might be able to help me with that. Or at least Seline.” He says.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“You met her, didn’t you? After the explosion.” He says.
“How do you know that?” I asked.
“It doesn’t matter how I know all of this stuff. I need you to know that we are putting together
our own plan to get rid of him.” He says.
“What plan?” I asked.
“We’re putting together a resistance.” He says.
“We already have that. We’ve got packs on our side. Large ones.” I say.
“It’s not enough. You need more than that.” He says.

Yes. Your pack and alliances with me and mine.” He says.
Why didn’t you just come to us with this? Why did you kidnap me?” I asked,
“Because I wanted to talk to you alone. Without your mate. I needed to talk to you and let you know who I was without them around in case they don’t believe me and lock me up. But I know that you will be able to tell if I’m telling the truth.” He says.
“What?” Lasked.
“I know that you can have an extra sense where you can tell if people are telling the truth or not. Don’t you?” He asked.
Asher doesn’t even know about that. And I don’t know how I can do it. I just can.” I say. And we heard some noise and thrashing and growling outside the door and Carter jumped to his feet. “Just like I don’t know why silver doesn’t stop me from mind linking.” I say. And he looked at me in surprise.
As the noise was getting closer Carter ran over to me and unchained me and helped me up with a silver knife to my heart that had a rubber handle on it that he was holding while he was standing behind me.
The door then flew open and Asher stalked inside and let out a growl that shook the walls and terrified even me. But his Alpha aura wasn’t doing anything to me or Carter. Because we both
came from Alpha bloodlines.
“Let her go.” Asher demanded. His canines protruded from his gums.
“Not until you calm down. We need to talk.” Carter says.
“I don’t care if you are her brother. I will rip you apart for taking her from me.” Asher growled out. And Carter looked at me from the other side of my head.
“I told you that silver didn’t stop me from mind linking. He heard everything.” I admitted. And
Asher took a step closer to us.
“Another step and she’s dead.” Carter threatened.
“He’s lying. He won’t kill me. He needs me.” I tell Asher. And Asher grinned at me as he took another step. And then I saw Cole and Beau walk in behind him.
“Let her go.” Asher demanded.
“STOP” I yelled to get everyone’s attention. “We aren’t killing anyone. Asher is pissed that Carter took me. So am I. But we will check him out first. Before anyone makes any decisions.”

I insist.
“What do we do with him in the meantime?” Cole asked.
“Put him in the dungeon. Until we can find his resistance fighters.” I say.
“I’m not going into no dungeon.” Carter says.
“Don’t be an i***t Carter. He will kill you. This is the only way I can keep you alive. For now.” I
say.
Carter hesitated but he slowly dropped the knife away from my heart and Asher ripped me away from Carter and pushed me behind him.
“Asher. I meant it. Don’t kill him.” I say. And he turned back to look at me and his eyes were
changing color. He was fighting with his wolf over what to do with Carter. “Please?” I asked.
Asher looked back at Carter, staring at him for a moment before he turned back to me.
“You two, put that piece of s**t in the dungeon.” Asher says to Cole and Beau. And then he grabs me by the hand to take me out but I hiss at the pain on my wrist from the metal chains.
Asher led me through some underground tunnels until we climbed some stairs and through a
hatch in the ground and we were back in the woods.
I knew that we were underground. And we were still on our packlands. People were gathered
around outside and one of our warriors had restrained Malia who looked terrified and gave me
a sorrowful look and who was also going to the dungeons.
“Luna. I’m sorry.” Malia says to me. But Asher growled at her, pushing his Alpha aura forward and she fell to the ground in pain.
Asher put his arm over my shoulders and he took me to the hospital to get my wrists looked at. And while we were sitting in the emergency room Asher demanded that it be cleared of everyone except the doctor and nurse. And while I was sitting on the bed, he was leaning against the wall with one leg on the wall and the other on the floor.
“How long have you been able to know whether people are telling the truth or not?” Asher
asked.
“I don’t know. I guess I’ve always been able to do it. It was more like a sixth sense. A feeling I
got.” I say.
“Carter mentioned you meeting Seline.” He says.
“She came to me after the explosion. She told me that I was the only one who could stop Jackson. But that’s not true. I think I am the one that is meant to help lead. And before you

ask, mind linking while hooked up to silver I just found out today. I gave it a go and it worked.”
I explained.
“Yeah. It worked. It led me straight to you. I could feel how close you were.” He says.
I put my head down not knowing what to say to him but he walked over to me and lifted my head so that I was looking him in the eye. And he leaned his forehead on mine.
“You scared me today.” He says.
“Yeah. I seem to be doing that a lot lately.” I say. And he chuckled.
“You have to stop getting yourself into trouble.” He says.
“For some reason, I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon.” I say.
“Probably not.” He says. And he cupped my face and kissed me on the lips.
“How long have I been gone? They hit me with a couple doses of wolfsbane. I don’t even know
how long I was gone.” I say.
“Luckily, only a few hours. You mind linking as soon as you woke up helped us find you faster.”
He says.
“Did you know those tunnels were there?” I asked.
“Yeah. But I thought they’d all been sealed. I guess I was wrong.” He says.

guess so.” I say. “We have a lot of work today. We need to call all of our alliances together for a meeting.” I continued.
“I know. I’ll arrange it for tomorrow. We have to do something. This has to stop.“He says pulling out his phone. And he showed me some more footage from today.
Jackson’s pack was terrorizing a human town. We couldn’t see where though. His own men were filming it and they were careful not to get the town’s name in it anywhere. But they were killing and kidnapping whoever they wanted.
“That town was bigger than the others. That one was 10,000 people. The army is going in to
see if there are any survivors.” He says.
“You don’t want to go?” I asked.
“No. It’s a human town. They can handle it.” He says.
“What are the human’s thinking of us right now? They probably think that all werewolves are savages that are capable of that. All because of one sick son of a b***h like him.” I say.
“I know. But he’s called me out personally on his broadcasts. Enticing me to come after him.

Which hopefully gives people hope that there are some good werewolves around.” He says.
“They need to see us doing something good. They need to see us saving more people. Not just werewolves. But humans. They need to know that we’re not a threat.” I say.
“That’s a tall order. We’ll see what we can do.” He says.
Once the doctor gave me the all clear we headed back to the packhouse and Cole and Beau
were waiting out the front for us. And they both hugged me.
“Are you alright?” Beau asked.
“I’m good. Carter was telling the truth. We need to find out where his base of operations is. So
I can go talk to his people.” I say.
“You’re not going alone.” Asher insisted.
“Duh. How stupid do you think I am?” I asked.
“Alright. Well, he’s in the dungeon waiting for you. He’ll only talk to you.” Cole says. So I walked
inside the packhouse and Asher followed behind me.
