CHAPTER 40
IVY’S POV
As I started to come to I realized that I was hanging over someone’s shoulder but it wasn’t Malia. It was a man that was carrying me through the woods and I didn’t know who it was or why he was doing this.
As I gained more of my senses back I kicked the man in the stomach and he dropped me immediately and I landed on a sharp branch that cut my leg open but I got to my feet and
started running anyway.
I heard the man yell to some others and before I knew it I was being surrounded. There were several men surrounding me and I knew that I couldn’t fight my way out of this. I knew that I was in serious trouble here. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t going to fight still.
I tried to mind link Asher but it wasn’t working. The wolfsbane was still too strong in my system and as the man who was carrying me approached me from the side I dropped to the ground and spun around, kicking his legs out from under him and the others charged at me.
I punched one in the face and spun around him before he could grab me and I kicked the next one in the stomach and then kneed him in the face but someone grabbed me from behind and I tried to get out of his grip but he was too strong and he had me in a really awkward position
for me to get out of it.
Another man walked over to me with a needle and I started thrashing even more and it took three of them to get me to the ground and hold me down while they injected me with the needle in my neck. And the same as before, my vision started going blurry and then I lost function of my body before I lost complete consciousness.
I don’t know how long I had been out of it, but when I woke up I felt something stinging my
wrist and I looked up to see silver chains around my wrist and I was lying on a bed in what
looked like a basement.
I slowly sat up and I grabbed my head because it was pounding so much.
“Sleeping beauty is awake.” Some man said from the corner of the room. He was one of the
men in the woods but not the one that was carrying me.
“Who the f**k are you?” I snapped.
“Wow. You are a feisty one. We were told to watch out for that.” He says.
“Told by who?” I asked.

“You’ll find out. In good time.” He says.
“What do you want from me?” I asked.
“I’m not at liberty to say. I’m just the guard.” He say.
“Where am I? There’s no way you were able to get me off of packlands.” I say.
“Have you ever seen me before?” He asked.
“No.” I say.
“If you’ve never seen me before then how did I get onto packlands to get you in the first place?” He asked.
“Bullshit. There’s others that would know you around the pack. I’ve met a lot of new people in the last couple of months. We’re a f**king refugee camp now. Haven’t you noticed?” I asked.
“And because of that fact, it was very easy to sneak into this pack and it will be very easy to sneak out.” He says.
“Not with me. You won’t be able to with me. They all know me. If I’m knocked out then they’ll know. If I’m awake then I will tell them.” I say.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.” He says.
“What do you want from me? How the hell does Jackson know that I’m still alive?” I asked.
“Beats me. I just do as I’m told.” He says,
“Well, aren’t you a good little lap dog?” I say.
I looked around to take as much notice as I possibly could at my surroundings. I was in a
basement somewhere with really shitty lighting. But then I wasn’t sure if it was a basement.
Maybe it was a tunnel or something. That made a lot more sense to me. We knew of all the houses on the property. Even after we expanded the territory. We made sure that we knew where everything was.
I was lying on that bed with silver burning into the flesh of my wrists for hours before the door
finally opened and I recognised the man that had been holding me to bring me here. I got a
better look at him now though. About 6 foot 3, short brown hair, tattoos up and down his arms,
a little intimidating with a face that looked like it never smiled.
“Well, if it isn’t the devil spawn himself.” I say looking away from him.
“Leave,” He told the guard and the guard didn’t hesitate for a second. The man strolled across
the room and he sat on the chair that the guard was using.

“So, you’re the one that everyone is making such a fuss over. I can see that.” He says.
“You can see what?” I asked.
“Why everyone is so obsessed with you. You’re a lot more than I expected.” He says.
“I don’t know what you plan to do to me here. But I can guarantee that my mate is going to rip you from limb to limb if you touch me.” I say.
“Yeah. I know that. I’m not going to touch you. You’re safe. You’re not going to be hurt.” He says. And I scoff.
“So, why is my wrist burning off with silver chains?” I asked.
“I don’t want you to mind link him until we’ve had a good chance to talk.” He says.
“I have nothing to say to you. If you wanted to talk to me there were other ways. You didn’t need to f**king kidnap me.” I say.
“I know. But I didn’t want an audience either. I didn’t want your mate or those protective brothers of his around.” He says.
“What’s wrong with his protective brothers? Their practically my brothers now.” I say.
“I am aware of that. How much do you know about your father?” He asked.
“Enough. How much do you know?” I asked.
“I know that your father is Ethan Jackson.” He says.
“Yeah. A lot of people around here know that now. In fact, my entire pack knows that now.” I
say.
“Yeah. You were honest with them. Even though they might be scared of that face, you still told them. That was brave. And that was definitely the move of a Luna.” He says.
“Who the f**k are you?” I asked.
“My name is Carter. And I’ve been looking for you for a long time. You’ve definitely exceeded my expectations of a Luna.” He says.
“What did you expect me to be like? The same bullied little girl from Jackson’s pack? I was never a scared little girl. Whatever happened in Jackson’s pack made me stronger, not weaker. And alot of that had to do with my mother. No one else.” I demanded while glaring at him.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about what he did to Stella. She was a really nice lady. She didn’t deserve any of it.” He says.
“You knew her?” I asked.

‘I went to school with her. Grew up with her. We’re the same age.” He says.
“You WERE the same age. She stopped aging months ago. Remember.” I say.
“I remember. I loved your mother. A lot. And after what Jackson did to her and then shunning
her when you came along, I was exiled from the pack when he heard I was making threats
against him. I couldn’t protect your mother anymore after that. No matter how much I wanted
to.” He says.
“You’re making absolutely no sense. You’re from Jackson’s pack. You loved my mother. But you kidnapped me and you’re keeping me here chained with silver.” I say.
“That’s just so we can talk and you can’t mind link Alpha Asher. I swear that I am not going to
hurt you.” He says.
“You’re already hurting me. The second you sent Malia into my house to kidnap me, you were
hurting me.” I say.
“Malia was just a means to an end. I knew that she would do whatever I asked.” He says.
“So, you were using her.” I say.
“Yeah.” He says,
“Well, Beau had feelings for her. They were getting close. He didn’t deserve that. He deserves
better than Malia. Better than me.” I say.
“What do you mean? You’re mated to the Alpha.” He says.
“I was starting something up with Beau before we found out that I was Asher’s mate.” I say.
“I didn’t know that. The poor kid.” He says.
“You have no idea the kind of damage that you could have done to him.” I say.
“You really do think of him as a brother. You’re protective of him too.” Carter says.
“Yeah. So what?” I asked.
“How about being that concerned about your actual brother?” He asked.
“I don’t have a brother? Jackson has a couple of kids but I am not calling them family. They’re
mongrels.” I demanded.
“I’m talking about Jackson’s oldest son. The one that you wouldn’t know about because he
was banished from the pack before you were born.” Carter says.
“What?” I asked, shocked.
“I’m your brother Ivy.” He announced.
