CHAPTER 29
Asher called a pack meeting and we all met at the training grounds since the meeting hall was all taken up. Everyone, even the refugees, came to the meeting and Asher stood up in front of everyone with Cole and his parents by his side. And to start with I was standing off to the side but he got me to stand up with them to face everyone. That was really nerve wracking.
“How many people are in this pack?” I asked.
“3500. Not including the refugees.” Cole answered me. And my eyes went pretty wide after that in surprise.
“I didn’t know that it was so big. I commented almost choking on my own words.
“Alright. I know that you have a lot of questions about Jackson. It’s no secret that we have been at war with him for months. He wanted two members of our pack that were new arrivals. He already killed one of them and he is after the other one. I’m sure you all know by now that I am talking about Ivy. But she is a member of this pack and that’s not going to change. Her and her mother came here, fleeing from Jackson’s pack. They were shunned in his pack, treated as outcasts and treated horribly. So they came here. They never intended for anything to happen. They never imagined that Jackson would try to take over the world but we do know that he is only using that as an excuse. He was planning on doing this no matter what…He wouldn’t kill all of those innocent people just because I wouldn’t hand over Ivy. It doesn’t make
any sense because he is insane. He’s making it sound like my fault that he is doing all of this…Ivy thinks that it’s time we tell you the truth. I disagree but she insists. Ivy is Jackson’s
daughter.” Asher announced. And the murmurs and whispers all started.
“Please, calm down. Jackson raped her mother when she was only 14 and then shunned them both and make sure that the entire pack shunned them as well. Ivy has absolutely no alliance
to that pack. And believe me, if she did then I would know. I would feel it. Because Ivy is your Luna. We may not have marked each other yet, but the mate bond between us is telling me everything that I need to know. Plus everything that she has done for this pack since she has been here. How many lives has she already saved? Her loyalties are with us. With me.” Asher says holding my hand while addressing everyone. And that definitely puts them at ease. Except for one face that I noticed looked really pissed in the crowd.
“How do we know that she’s not using her position to give Jackson information behind your
back? Chloe asked.
“Because she didn’t know that she was my mate until just recently. Long after she arrived

here. And I actually bought her and her mother here. They didn’t come here on their own
accord. I went to Jackson’s pack two years ago and that’s where I saw Ivy for the first time
and knew who she was. So I offered her mother a job here and her mother took it. A fresh start
for both of them?” Asher explained. Alright, another secret. Another lie. Did my mother already
know that Asher was my mate or did he keep that from her too.
When the pack meeting was over I think everyone was reeling from that information that they had just been bombarded with and I headed over to the hospital where I had some paperwork to fill out and the nurse’s were looking at me weird and out of the corners of their eyes. They
didn’t know how to take me. They didn’t know what to expect from me. Although I was the same girl that they knew yesterday. I guess knowing the truth was going to be harder for people to accept than I thought. But I didn’t want it to be kept a secret. I needed everyone to know. He mentioned me personally in the news broadcast and he’s using me as the excuse
why he is killing people.
A lot of members were probably thinking that he should hand me over until they heard that I was their Luna. A pack’s loyalty always goes straight to the Alpha and Luna of the pack. And that would be making this even more difficult for them. I can understand that.
So when I finished up at the hospital I headed back to the packhouse and Elsie and Henry were both there in the living room,
“We weren’t expecting you back so soon.” Elsie says.
“I needed to get away from the prying eyes.” I say.
“Come on. Come and sit down.” She says. So I sat in the living room with them.
“We know that this can’t be easy. Your father is responsible for all of this.” Henry says.
“He’s not my father. He’s just a sperm donor.‘ I say. ‘I doubt his own pack even knows that he’s my father.” I continued.
“We might be able to use that against him.‘ Henry says.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Have you got proof that he’s your father?‘ Henry asked.
“Yeah. A paternity test.‘ I say.
“Well, he can’t deny to his pack that he had s*x with a 14 year old. He will lose credibility with his own pack. That might help our cause.” Henry says.
Tasy Henry Elsie says.
“What? That sounds like a plan. Henry says.

“It will also let the people know that I am a child of rape.” I told him.
“Oh. I’m sorry. I didn’t think of that. I was thinking like an Alpha.” He says.
“I know. It’s alright. You were the Alpha for years. It is a good strategy.” I say. ” But maybe I need to think about it for a while. It’s one thing letting my own pack know is one thing. But the whole rest of the world is something different.” I say.
“You’re right. I was jumping the gun.” He says.
“If anything Ivy, we are so happy that you are Asher’s mate. When it looked like you were going to date Beau, we knew back then that you were something special. This definitely took us by
surprise but we couldn’t have asked for a better daughter–in–law. No matter what son of ours
you get with.” Elsie says.
“It makes me sound like I was going through all of your sons. That wasn’t intentional. Asher
asked Beau to keep an eye on me without telling either of us why he was doing it. And things
happened from there.” I explained.
“That does explain a lot.” She says.
Asher then came into the house in a hurry and I stood up and turned to look at him and Cole
right beside him.
“Well, that broadcast just did wonders for our cause.” Cole says.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“We just got a call from some werewolves that are trapped. They need our help and we need to
get there in a hurry. We’re heading out now.” Asher says.
“Where?” I asked following him upstairs to his bedroom.
“It’s about three hours from here.” Asher says. And I walked over to him.
“Hostile territory?” I asked.
“Definitely.” He says. And he saw the worry on my face so he put his hands on either side of my face.
“I will be just fine. I promise. I will come back.” He says.
“You better.” I said and he smiled at me and hugged me. I pulled back from him and I took him
by surprise when I leaned forward and I kissed him. When he finally relaxed into it he put his
arms around me and kissed me back. He brushed his tongue along my lips asking permission
for entry, which I gladly granted him.
He moaned into my mouth, tasting every inch of it with his tongue as it became more urgent

and more desperate. We both finally stopped when we needed to come up for some much needed air.
He pulled back away from my face looking me straight in the eye with a slight smile on his face. I could tell that he definitely wasn’t expecting that.
“Promise me that you’ll come back to me.” I whispered. And he let out a breath and rested his
forehead on mine.
“I promise that I will come back to you.” He says.
Once he was ready I followed him out the front of the packhouse where the warriors were
loading up some SUVS and Asher said goodbye to his parents. He then held my hand and
looked straight at me.
“I will be back again tonight. Tomorrow morning at the latest. Don’t worry.” He assures me and
I nod my head. So he leaned down and quickly kissed me again before he left with everyone else. And I was trying not to let the tears fall from my face when Elsie put her arm around my
waist.
“He’ll be fine. He’s the strongest of them all. You know that.” Elsie says.
“I know. But they are going to be outnumbered.” I say.
“Well, you’re in charge of the pack until they come back.” Henry says.
“What? No. I’m not Luna yet.” I say.
“You practically are. And these people need to see that you have their best interest at heart. That you are nothing like Jackson.” Henry tells me.
As soon as they were gone I headed over to the meeting hall and the cook looked like she was overrun with things to do so I went into the kitchen to start helping her. She was preparing food for everyone and she was running behind.
“Luna. We are running out of food. Someone needs to do a food run.” She says.
“Alright. I’ll send a couple of warriors. Have there been any issues with the refugees?” I asked. “No. Most of them are just keeping to themselves. No fighting or anything. I guess they don’t see the reason to fight each other right now.” She says.
“That’s good.” I say. I grabbed an order form and I started looking around at supplies and then I took it to a warrior and asked him to take two other men with him to go and pick up these
supplies.
They left immediately to go and do that and I was called to the hospital for an emergency and

there was someone in the emergency room. She had been hurt really bad while out on a run with her friends. There was a large stick plunging through her leg. She says that she tripped on something but she wasn’t sure what it was.
So I gave her some anesthetic and then I needed to cut either side of the long stick before I started working on getting the rest of it out of her leg without leaving any splinters behind. I knew that was impossible.
So when I managed to get it out of her leg I had to x–ray for splinters and use surgical
tweezers to pick out all of the splinters while taking x–rays the whole time to make sure that I got every single one of them out.
I then wrapped it up in a bandage and she was really thankful that I helped her. And then I got a mind link asking me to get back to the meeting hall. I took my gloves off and took a deep breath before heading back to the meeting hall. Suddenly thinking that running a pack on my own was going to be a really long night.
