CHAPTER 23
I was on the floor crying. No matter what I did I couldn’t stop. I was shaking, I was hysterical. There was nothing anyone could do for me.
One of the guards brought that women out of his office who said that they should get rid of me and Alpha Asher growled when he saw her.
“Just take her to the cell for now. I don’t have time to deal with her.” He ordered. So the guard
took her towards the basement stairs.
Cole and Asher helped me up and they took me to my room but that didn’t help any. I still
couldn’t calm down. I could tell that they were mind linking each other because they couldn’t
talk freely about this in front of me, but neither of them would leave my side.
My phone started ringing and Asher grabbed it and noticed the number as the same prank
phone call that had been calling me.
“Listen to me, you son of a b***h. You already killed her mother, leave her the f**k alone or I
will find you and rip your f**king throat out.” Alpha Asher yelled into the phone before he hung
it up.
Cole got me to lay down on the bed and I was hugging one of the pillows and cried into it
when Alpha Asher got called away. But Cole stayed with me the whole time.
Spencer heard about what happened so she came to the packhouse and they let her up to my room and she sat on the bed beside me just rubbing my arm. She didn’t know what else to do either. She didn’t know what to say. All they could do was be there for me.
How was I going to go on without my mother? She was the only lifeline I ever had. And now
she is gone. She is gone and I am never going to see her again. I never got to say goodbye. We
didn’t have enough time.
I don’t know how long I was laying there crying into my pillow but I eventually drifted off to
sleep without even trying.
ASHER POV
When I got back to the packhouse Cole was walking downstairs with Spencer.
“Where is she?” I asked.
“She cried herself to sleep.” Cole replied.
“She still shouldn’t be alone. Who the hell knows what she’s going to be thinking when she

wakes up.” I say.
“Asher. She’s fine for now. But we have more important things to worry about.” Cole says.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“What the f**k are we going to do about Jackson? He can’t keep going on the way that he is. He can’t keep harrassing our pack like this and getting away with it. It makes us look weak.” Cole says.
“I know. I was thinking the same thing. Which is why we’re not letting him get away with it. But
we’re not talking about this here.” I say looking at Spencer.
“That’s alright. I have to get home anyway. I’ll come and see Ivy again tomorrow.” Spencer
says leaving.
“Alright Asher. What’s going on?” Cole asked.
“I just met up with my scouts. Their following Jackson’s men. They will follow them all the
way back to West Virginia if they have to. They attacked Ivy on pack grounds. That’s war. And
that’s what we’re taking to them.” I said and the smile on Cole’s face grew wide.
“We’re taking war to them? I like it.” Cole says.
“The men need to be overly prepared. They’re not a small pack and so far Jackson has been
using Rogues to do his bidding. But we’re taking the fight to him. His beta Jeremiah was here
which means that Jackson is involved. That’s all the proof that we need. And the scouts are documenting everything that these men are doing that they are following. I’m making sure that we have enough proof in case the werewolf council decides to get involved.” I explained.
“You really did think this through. Didn’t you?” He asked.
“It’s all I’ve been doing since Ivy told me who Jeremiah was.” I say.
“Alright then. So, when do we attack?” He asked.
“When I’m sure that all the men are ready for a fight that big with as many losses to our side as possible. Training is going to triple during the day.” I say.
“What about the traitor? Someone was watching Ivy from inside the borders.” Cole says.
“I thought about that too. And I’m gonna go find out who that is.” I say going to my office.
I left the door open but I opened the filing cabinet and I started pulling out every file on every person that lives in this pack. I laid them out on the coffee table and I started going through all of them one by one. I knew that the traitor couldn’t be myself or my parents so they were immediately eliminated. And then the elders of the pack. They couldn’t do it. None of them

can get away unnoticed. It takes them way too long to move around. And people would notice if they were there or not.
It has to be someone that would go unnoticed and I wasn’t ruling anyone out. No warriors, no friends, no one. And someone knocked on the door.
“Come in.” I sang out. And a 23–year–old brunette walked inside wearing almost next to nothing. The tightest figure hugging dress.
“Chloe. What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I’m just checking in. I heard about you getting poisoned. And all these attacks. Apparently because of some girl that’s just moved to town.” Chloe says sitting on the armrest of the chair.
“Her name is Ivy and she’s saved many lives since she’s been here and she just lost her mother who was the actual doctor.” I snapped.
“I know. It can’t be easy on her. But I don’t want her to get you hurt.” Chloe says, rubbing my
arm.
“I’m not getting hurt.” I assure her, shrugging her arm off.
“Asher. You know how I still feel about you.” Chloe says.
“It’s Alpha to you. And we broke up a long time ago. So I don’t think you should be here right now.” I say coldly.
“Asher. Please don’t be like that.” Chloe says. And I looked up and glared at her. “Alpha. I’m
sorry. But we once meant something special to each other. Why are you going to so much trouble for this girl?” Chloe asked.
“Because her mother was just murdered. And right now, she is the closest thing that we have to a doctor.” I say.
“You really like this girl, don’t you?” Chloe asked.
“My brother screwed her over and then her mother was kidnapped and then murdered. What
are you not understanding about this? Just leave. I’m busy.” I say.
“What are you doing?” She asked, looking at the files. And I pulled them all away from her.
“None of your business. Leave, now.” I demanded.
“Alright. I guess I will see you later then.” She says standing up and leaving slowly. Hoping
that I would stop her but I had no intentions of doing that.
I have to find out who this traitor was before I made any plans on moving on Jackson’s pack. There’s no way I wanted him to be warned about it. I needed to try and narrow it down in this

pack. Which was going to be really hard because of how many pack members we had.
I was awake almost all night looking through the files and sorting them into different piles when I started getting this weird feeling in my stomach. I thought I might have been hungry or something since the sun was starting to shine through the window.
So I headed up the two flights of stairs and I was walking down the hallway when I heard some people talking in Ivy’s room.
“Why did you leave?” Ivy asked.
“It’s a really long story. Just know that it wasn’t your fault.” Beau says.
“But you’re back for good now?” Ivy asked.
“I heard about your mother. And I knew that I couldn’t stay away any longer. It was hard enough for me to stay away as long as I did.” Beau says.
“Well, I think that maybe you should have stayed away.” Ivy tells him.
“I know that it hurt when I took off the night after we kissed. It looked like we were getting something going and then I just disappeared. I’m sorry about that. I really am. I had my own issues to deal with.” Beau explained.
“Well, now I have my own issues to deal with. And they don’t really include you.” She says.
“What are you talking about? You’re seeing someone else?” He asked.
“No. I’m not seeing anyone else. Not yet.” She says.
“You like someone else?” He asked.
“I’m starting to. It’s complicated. But I don’t think you and I are really going to work out.” Ivy says sitting up on the bed and he sits on the bed next to her.
“I knew that I shouldn’t have left. You were the best thing that ever happened to me.” Beau
says.
“Well, it’s too late for that. It’s too late for a lot of things. I can’t deal with this right now Beau.” Ivy tells him, putting her head in her hands.
“Ivy. We need to talk.” Beau insisted.
“Not right now, you don’t.” I said from the doorway and both of their heads snapped towards
- me.
“How long have you been standing there?” Beau asked.
“Long enough. That girl has been through enough without having you here badgering her for a

second chance at a relationship.” I growled at him.
“I just needed to talk to her.” Beau says.
“Yeah. Well, I need to talk to you. Come on.” I say. So Beau came out of the room and I closed
Ivy’s door and I walked down to the second floor of the house and I threw him against the wall
immediately.
“Are we really going to do this here?” Beau asked.
“You said that you would never come between mates. So what the f**k are you doing here
now?” I demanded to know.
“I know that I shouldn’t come between mates. But I can’t stop thinking about her. She doesn’t
know that she’s your mate and I wanted a second chance.” Beau says and I punch him in the face. He doesn’t even try to fight back. But Cole and our parents come out of their rooms and
see us fighting.
“I’m only going to tell you this once. Stay the f**k away from Ivy. Go find someone else.” I demanded before slamming him against the wall again and I walked away.
“What the hell was that about?” I heard Cole ask. But Beau didn’t answer.
