CHAPTER 16
I headed straight to the hospital and I could hear the battle going on in the woods and I grabbed a gown and gloves and I was looking around at the nurses and started yelling at them to get supplies. I then looked around and grabbed one of the nurses.
“Where’s my mother?” I asked.
“She left to go home about 10 minutes ago. She’s probably on her way back now.” The nurse
says.
“Okay then.” I say. So I made sure that the rooms were prepped and ready to go. And the first
injury came in a while later but there was still no sign of my mother. I tried to reach her in the
mind link but there was nothing there. That was weird. She never cut me out of the link. But I
didn’t have time to think about that right now. I needed to concentrate on what I was doing.
I was bombarded with patients. One after the other. And I had men on a table next to where I
was and I had the nurses performing procedures on them but I was watching their every move
and I was telling them every step to take while I was working on my patient as well. The
patients didn’t seem too happy about it until I explained that I was going to be there the whole
time and that they were going to be completely safe. I swore that they were going to be
completely safe. I wasn’t going to let anything bad happen to them here. Not in this hospital.
A nurse then came in with a woman who was screaming and it got my attention.
“Why isn’t she in the shelter?” I asked.
“She’s gone into labor.” The nurse says.
“Alright. Put her on the next bed down. Do you know what you’re doing there?” I asked.
“I might need a little prompting.” She says. So I explained to her how to see how dilated the woman was and she measured it at about 8 cm. That was going to be a quick delivery.
I was concentrating on the two injured warriors in the room with us and I saw them piling up
in the hallway.
When I was finished with my patient I told the nurse to take him to another room and not to leave his side. I changed gloves and pulled the next one in.
I was there alone for about 6 hours and the only good thing that came out of that night was hearing that baby take its first breath and start crying in that emergency room. And I knew that they were going to be okay. So they were taken to the maternity ward.
I managed to get through everyone although some were critical but luckily no one needed

surgery. And I had a nurse keeping an eye on every patient and I saw Alpha Asher standing outside the room looking at me. The look on his face wasn’t giving me a lot of hope though.
So I took my gown and gloves off and I walked over to him.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“You were amazing here tonight. You did all of this on your own.” He says.
“Well, it’s easier with werewolves. They have fast healing. You don’t look too good.” I say.
“Ivy. We found your mother’s car. It was on the side of the road that was heading out of town.
The driver’s door was open but there was no one in it.” He says.
“What?” I was shocked.
“Your mother’s missing. I’ve got every able body out in the woods looking for her. But so far they’ve come up with nothing.” He says. And my heart was beating so hard in my head that I
could hear it in my ears.
“No. It has to be someone else car.” I say feeling myself starting to panic.
“Believe me. I wish it wasn’t your mother’s car. Do you know what could have happened?” He
asked.
“Jackson. He was here today and now my mother is missing. He definitely has something to
do with it.” I say.
“Alright. That’s a great lead. I’m gonna find her. I promise.” He says. And I nodded my head.
And he started to walk away.
“Alpha.” I said and he turned to look at me. “She’s all I have in the world.” I say.
“Which is why I’m going to bring her home.” He says leaving with warriors following him. I had to lean against the wall and take deep breaths before I fell into my panic attack. I couldn’t let that happen here. Too many people were depending on me.
