Addison is Worthless
Chapter 63
Garrett’s POV
Now, that caught my attention. “Why?” I asked carefully.
“I don’t believe it. How could Addison have anyone backing her? She is pitiful. She lived next door to us forever, and they rarely had visitors,” Valerie pointed out. We spoke at the same
time.
“Do you remember her attorney from the trial?” our Dad asked us.
“Yeah,” I replied with a frown. He was a shark. I would hate to go up against him. I was glad
that Addison had such a good attorney in her corner. I remembered him at the first trial. I
remember how confident Tammy was until he arrived in the courtroom. Her public defender
looked worried after he saw who he was up against. They thought she would get a slap on the
wrist before he had shown up. He was the reason she got the sentence she received. I hope
they warned him about Tammy having a hit list.
“So? He was a good lawyer. He made sure Tammy got what she deserved,” Valerie admitted.
“He’s the best attorney in Dallas. Now, ask yourself this, Valerie. Can a pitiful orphan hire the
very best attorney in Dallas? Her family not only knew about the video, they all supported her. They were embarrassed for Addison. That video should have never been made. But they loved her, so they brought out the big guns. Hiring him was the main reason Tammy went to prison. He knew what he was doing and made sure she went to jail for it. A regular attorney wouldn’t have been able to get the same sentence passed down. Addison’s family are not to be messed with. They have money behind them, a lot of money. We can’t compare to them. Phillip’s family is not as well off as hers, but they are close enough for him to be considered good enough to marry into the family. Let me assure you, not everyone can,” my Dad said as he
looked at me.
I hadn’t known that. I hadn’t recognized anyone with her yesterday when we arrived, except for that one young guy. I saw him in the gossip magazine with her. I only recognized her aunt because she looked exactly like Addison’s mother, but I didn’t know any of them personally. Dad saying that someone had to be worthy of marrying her was concerning. I didn’t want Addison because her family had money. I wanted Addison because I love her. She is the best person I’ve ever known. Now, I’m even more worried about getting her back. I am sure it will be even more challenging than anticipated. I thought I would remind her how much she loved me and that I still loved her. I figured that sooner or later, she wouldn’t be able to resist my charm.

“Impossible. I don’t believe it, Dad. She looked like crap out there on her front porch. She
barely did her hair, and she was dressed terribly. I haven’t seen her do anything since I’ve
known her that impressed me. It’s just her family backing her up, so what? It’s what they are supposed to do anyway. I bet if they ever saw the video she starred in, they would dump her ass like a hot potato,” Valerie huffed out.
“Not true. They know about it, and they still backed her up. Valerie, I won’t let you do anything
else to harm our chances with my grandson. You’re mistaken. I need you to pay attention to
what we are telling you. Maybe you will understand this. Addison is the head designer for Anal
and Alex. Your dream job is in the palm of her hand. Now, think about how you acted towards
her this morning. Could you face Addison in an interview after what you said to her?” my
mother fired off.
“Impossible, she can’t be. Their designer has talent; Addison doesn’t. It’s as simple as that,”
Valerie scoffed again, this time louder, as if Mom had said something funny.
“No, it’s not. Addison’s mother was named Ana, remember? Her aunt is named Alexandra. Get
it? Ana and Alex. It’s entirely possible,” I asserted.
I have even heard of Ana and Alex. They have a men’s line now, and some of my teammates
have come to Dallas to get a custom suit in the off–season. Now I am pissed about all the
comments about the ‘hot redhead‘ that worked there. I didn’t know that they were talking
about Addison. I didn’t realize it before, but Addison had always liked to draw. Her mother.
encouraged her to do it. I remember Ms. Ana was always drawing dresses when I came over
to get Addison. It all makes sense now.
“No f*****g way,” Valerie mumbled. But we all saw the flush on her cheeks. She was probably
going back over what she had said to Addison this morning and didn’t like her chances of
getting hired there now.
“You don’t have to think about it so hard, Valerie. You were an absolute b***h to Addison this
morning. I was embarrassed by what you said. You even hit on her fiancé in front of her and
then called him broke,” Holden said before bursting out laughing. “Oh man, this is priceless.
You wanted to work there, and being a designer there was your dream job. How does it feel knowing that the girl you claimed was worthless has your dream job?” Holden couldn’t stop laughing, and tears ran down his face. It was not a quiet mocking laugh, but a full–on in–your–face laugh. I had to hide my smile behind my hand. Valerie has no one to blame but
herself.
“Why didn’t you tell me, Mom?” Valerie screeched out. Once she realized that she had royally messed up. She passed the blame onto someone else, just like she usually does. She used to do this to Holden or me all the time. Seeing the shock on Mom and Dad’s faces was priceless.

“Who knew you were going over there to start trouble? I sure didn’t. You swore to me that you
were going over to apologize to Addison. I thought you were telling the truth, but I see now
that Holden was right. You went over there to flirt with Phillip,” Mom fired back.
Good. Mom needs to see her daughter in action. Valerie never accepted blame. She was never
at fault, even if she was. It was always someone else’s actions that caused the problem, not hers. I was glad my parents were finally getting a taste of what we had to deal with all these
years. Our parents looked stunned that Valerie was trying to blame Mom for what she had just
done next door.
I
“Don’t worry, Valerie. I will make sure that Addison knows you’re planning on coming in for an
interview soon. That way, she can be on the lookout for you,” Holden said with a snicker. He
was way too happy about ruining this opportunity for her. I had to hold my laugh back. I knew he was going to do it. We all did.
“You can’t do that to me, Holden. Why would you try to ruin my chances of getting my dream
job? Addison would never be so petty as to do that to me. We were friends before. I just
overstepped this morning. I can apologize to her again. I won’t mess the apology up, I swear. I
will be honest and sincere this time. Ana and Alex’s studio is growing at a huge rate. They
have been famous in Dallas for twenty years, but now they are spreading out. I heard they will
expand their studio to have one in California and one in New York. It would be wonderful to
work at either location. Dad, please tell Holden he can’t do that to me. He needs to be a good
brother to me,” Valerie whined. She was pissed, and her glare at him was deadly.
“What are you talking about, Valerie? It wouldn’t be me costing you the job. That was all you.
Who was it that threatened Addison? Saying that her video was going to start making the
rounds again? Who was it that said that she would never amount to anything? That you would
always be better than her? I don’t blame her for not wanting you around her son. You just
reminded her of you being a bully in high school. I wouldn’t want you around my child, either.
You are still bullying others. You honestly think you are better than everyone. That all stems
from you getting away with murder for years. It will be my pleasure to give Addison a
heads–up. Don’t be surprised if your interview gets canceled before you can go. That would be
a nice thing to do. It would save you a trip there and back. It’s the least I can do for Addison
after all the bullying you did towards her. I am including what you did today in it as well. You
always did what Tammy asked and picked on Addison all the time. It is time your actions caught up with you,” Holden told her.
None of us were expecting her screech of rage. Valerie jumped up from the couch she was
sitting on. Her mouth kept opening and closing, but no words came out. I could see her trying
to think of a way around what he had just said, but he was right. Mom and Dad weren’t
worried about her tantrum. I could see that they weren’t going to defend her. I decided to take

the opportunity of her trying to twist it in her favor.
“Addison is coming over here in a little while. You are not to speak to her, Valerie. She is
coming here, so I can apologize even though I heard you have already told her what happened.
I am tired of you getting away with everything, Valerie. So please do not take it as an
opportunity to try to beg her for a job. Your days of using me, or my name, to get ahead are
over. You need to give her space to calm down from the show you put on at her house this
morning. I’m not going to miss time with my son because you’re an entitled brat. You need to
understand that you are hurting others when you do that. It’s time for you to grow up, Valerie. You need to stop acting like a spoiled b***h. The world doesn’t revolve around you,” I told her.
“I was just saying that I was going to apologize, Garrett. It will take like two minutes of her time,” Valerie huffed. We could all tell she didn’t want to do it, but Holden and I already knew that. We saw how she was to Addison in high school.
“No, you’ve done enough damage today. We need to speak to you about another matter now, Valerie. Addison will be here in less than ten minutes, and we need to get this done,” our Dad told her.
Valerie didn’t even try to hide her eye roll from any of us. “What now? Haven’t you all ganged up on me enough today?”
“You need to take this seriously, Valerie. We didn’t tell you or Holden this, but Tammy is going after everyone she feels wronged her. The men helping her were the ones who stabbed your brother Garrett. You need to stay in the house, as the police are looking for them now. You can’t go out unless someone is with you. Your father is concerned that they are coming after our family next,” our mother told her.
