Give Me Another Chance
Chapter 50
Garrett’s POV
Could this lady be on my side? I could tell who she was; she looked like Ms. Ana. I smiled at her in thanks, as she seemed to be the only one besides my parents supporting me. I could see that Addison’s aunt had already tried and convicted me because of what I did. I will
accept help wherever I can get it.
“An excellent idea. We can order pizza and talk. Corbin, do you still like cheese?” my mother asked. I am again reminded that my parents helped hide my son from me. I am coming from
such a deficit here, and it pissed me off.
“You can leave too,” I told Phillip. He was getting on my nerves.
“I am going to be staying here with Addison while we renovate her home,” Phillip replied with a smirk. That pissed me off. I could slip over there and talk to Addison if he were gone. I needed her to hear what happened from me, not anyone else. Like I should have done from the start,
but it is never too late to right wrongs. At least, I hope not.
Her cousins both gave me a look that told me if I went too far, it wouldn’t just be Phillip I was dealing with. Hugs and goodbyes were exchanged before they left. I sighed in relief that her uncle didn’t take Corbin with him when he left. I knew her grandparents were calling the shots now, and I knew I needed them on my side. I would have to throw a hail mary here to keep her
grandmother on my side.
I tried to stay calm, as I knew he was deliberately trying to piss me off. Addison had pulled away from Phillip and picked up Corbin to head next door. She seemed upset, but I still needed to talk to her. I want nothing more than for us to be a family. We need time together,
just the three of us. I am going to make sure that happens.
Addison sat in the middle of the sofa, and I felt no shame in heading over to sit right next to her. Her scent still called to me, and I took a deep breath after sitting down. Not to be outdone, Phillip sat on her other side, quickly put his arm on the back of the sofa, and looked over at me. He leaned back so she couldn’t see him when he smirked at me. I knew he wouldn’t be backing down. That’s fine because I knew that Addison still loved me. She may be angry at me, but it is a fine line between love and hate. I will work hard to get her back.
My parents slipped out to place the order as everyone took their seats. Addison’s grandparents sat on the loveseat near us. We were a family of five, and having our friends over

so much, our living room had plenty of seating. I didn’t know what to say to start things off,
but I felt someone looking at me. I noticed that Corbin had turned around and was grinning at
- me. I hadn’t known how a heart could love so much until I met my son.
I may have missed his milestones, but I hope to get his mother to love me again. I will be
there for him for the rest of his life. No matter what plans Phillip was making. I grinned back
as I considered being with Addison for her next pregnancy. I wouldn’t miss anything, and
maybe we will have a girl next time. That made my smile grow even more. I couldn’t wait to
make sure that Addison is mine again. It would kill me to lose her a second time.
When my parents returned to the room, Addison’s grandmother cleared her throat. “Addison, I
love you. From the first moment I saw you in the pictures your mother sent us. That is why I
need to interject in this. I can only tell you, from my experience, what happened between us and your mother. It broke my heart, and I can’t stand back and let this go. I’m sorry, Phillip; I believe Addison should be with Garrett. She already would be, except your aunt was angry that
he took advantage of you when you were your most vulnerable.”
“Do you think I should have just slapped him on the wrist? Give him a stern lecture? He
deserved to suffer, just like he made Addison suffer,” her aunt immediately interrupted.
“Alexandra, did you now see how sad she was for years? She tried to put on a brave face for
us, but it wasn’t hard to see how much pain she was in. She loved Garrett, and she still does.
Will you have her suffer the rest of her life for his mistakes? When he could tell her what
happened and then allow Addison to decide if she wanted to believe him or not. You
interjected yourself in there for her. I know you did it with the best of intentions. You feel like
her surrogate mother, and I know how much you love her. But this is her life. Don’t you want
Addison to be happy? To have a chance to live the life she wants to live? You were so angry at
us for what we did trying to protect Ana. Don’t you realize that you have gone and done the
same thing to Addison?” her grandmother rebutted.
“I plan on making her and Corbin very happy, Mrs. Gwen. I promise I will,” Phillip interjected.
“I believe that you love my granddaughter, Phillip. The problem is, she doesn’t love you. She
cares for you. There is a difference. You two are very similar. You both have a lot of drive and
work well together. But Addison does not love you, Phillip. Not like she loves Garrett, her grandmother stated.
“I have given up my dream of our ever being a family. How can I trust him again? I gave him
another chance, and you know what he did,” Addison answered quietly.
“You didn’t give me another chance, though. A second chance involves the other party
knowing about it. Not some secret deal involving the three of you. Especially not when the

mastermind behind it was intent on punishing me for three years without telling me I was on a timeline. If I had known, I would have waited for you, Addison. I thought you were out running around on me. I thought you had a child with another man. I thought that you decided to move on. Do you not know how much that hurt me? I waited over a thousand days with no word
from you. I would have bent over backward to make you happy. I would have been over the
moon to know that I was right and that your child was mine. Please give me another chance.
A fair one, so I can show you that you can trust me,” I asked.
The emotions I was feeling were right there in my voice. I had been hurt, too, but I wanted a
fair chance to win her back. I was just about to tell her that Tammy was actually the source of
all our problems when Phillip interjected again.
“You hurt her over and over again. I saw the gossip about you, Garrett. You get around—a lot. I
have been there for her. Caring for her, supporting her, and Corbin. Loving them when you
didn’t. You can’t just claim a foul and request a do–over. Life isn’t like that. You have been
showing her who you are, showing all of us who you are, for the last two years. You aren’t the
victim here, Garrett, you’re the villain,” Phillip told me and he was angry. I can almost smell the
fear pouring out of him. I know that it is because Addison had strongly reacted to seeing me.
He is dead wrong if he thinks I will walk away now and let him ride off into the sunset with her.
“Thank God it isn’t up to you then, Phillip. Addison could ask around and see if I was telling
the truth. I will answer your questions; just don’t shut me out. I messed up, but you have to. I
could see how guilty you felt when Corbin came out. I believe I reacted well to finding out I
have a four–year–old child I never knew about. I want us to be a family, Addison. I want to
marry you. I want so many things, but I will start with a baby brother or sister for Corbin. I
would love to have a baby girl. One that looks just like you. That is my dream, Addison. I can
be happy as long as I am with you. I messed up. I admit it. I would love to take you to grab a
coffee and tell you everything. Or you can come over here and grab a coffee. Please, give me
an honest chance to prove that I can be the man you need me to be,” I pleaded.
My heart is on my sleeve. I didn’t want to piss her off by mentioning the fact that she had kept my child from me for years. I know she did it from a place of fear. I know Addison. I have known her my whole life, she was my best friend for most of my life. I am the father of her child–the man who loves her more than anyone else. I need her to decide to give me a
chance, a real chance to see if we can’t make this work.
“You’re too late, she’s my fiancé, Garrett. I don’t believe you deserve another chance. We have all seen you in action. You’ve had no shortage of women around you the last 2 years. Addison waited for you all this time, but you didn’t do the same for her. I waited for her. I don’t believe she would throw our relationship away for a guy who doesn’t know what he wants. If you did,
you would never have let her go,” Phillip pointed out.

Addison was wavering. She was going to give me a chance. I could see it in her eyes. His words brought my dating life back to the forefront. He was like a viper. He is quick to strike,
and I doubt that he is going to allow me to communicate with her. He can’t afford to allow me
to get back into her heart. He is paying for her security. I need to find a way around this. One
that he can’t stop me from doing.
“Addison, just exchange numbers with me. I will be right here, next door to you. I love you, and I want you. I only started sleeping around because I thought I had lost you forever. It broke my heart. Even in the midst of it, I felt guilty about cheating on you. I want you in my life as my wife. You are the only woman that I’ve ever wanted to marry. I compared them all to you, and
they were all lacking, Addison, because they weren’t you. I treated them all like Tammy. I got what I needed and sent them on their way. I don’t allow them to kiss me or cuddle. I certainly don’t allow them to spend the night. You were the only one I ever spent the night with. Everyone else pales compared to you. Just give me a chance, please, Addison. Give me a
chance to prove to you that I can be the man you need me to be,” I begged.
