Chapter 50
Anna’s POV cont.
Before long Jenna’s cell phone began to vibrate with a notification. At first she ignored it, but I
really wanted her to check it to see if it was an email notification she received.
“Maybe you should check your phone, Jenna. The CEO I emailed may be trying to contact you.
I know they are very anxious to hire a competent person for that position.” I urged her on.
Resigned to the idea that I would bug her until she checked her phone she did just that. “Hmmm, I got an email.” she murmured as she opened her email app. She looked a bit puzzled as she wasn’t familiar with the sender’s email address. “I don’t know if I should open it. I don’t recognize the sender. Is your friend’s email address this?” She turned the phone
screen towards me so I could check out the email address.
“It sure is,” I replied. “That’s the CEO’s private business email address. Only uses it for ultra important communication. I would definitely open and read the email right now.”
“Oh god, what if it’s a kiss–off? I’m kind of scared to open it.” She took a deep breath, pulled up her big girl panties, and opened the email. I watched her eyes as they shifted back and forth, reading the long, detailed email. Her face reflected every emotion felt as she read to the bottom, and finally saw the signature of the CEO. Shock was quickly followed by a look of
utter joy.
“Are you freaking serious?” she whisper shouted. “Wait, I don’t care, it’s in writing, no backies. I accept!” She immediately typed her acceptance of the offer and hit send. “What’s my first
assignment, boss?”
The two of us hugged, laughed, and had a drink to celebrate her accepting the official position of Personal Assistant to Anna Graystone, CEO of Graystone International.
“I can’t wait to tell Victor,” she gushed. “He is going to be thrilled! OMG, I have to send an email declining the position with my old company. I need to give them time to fill that position.
She opened a previous email from her old company, and quickly typed out her very polite and respectful resignation effective immediately, then sent it off. “I have no doubt they are going to be ticked off by this, but I need to do what is best for me.”
“I figure their loss is my gain. This will be perfect. We will both be out of the reach of the vipers, and we get to travel together! Victor can give you a run down on a PA’s duties, so you can hit the ground running.” I was grinning like a fool, happy that now, knowing Bradley and I, and Jenna and Victor, would be working closely together. We’d have to be mindful to not allow

our personal lives and professional lives interfer with each other, but I’m confident we can do that.
“You know Jenna, when we were looking at our cruise info, I got to thinking about the other eight cruises I purchased. Originally, before everything blew up in our faces, my plan was to get the vipers, as well as Angela, Bonnie, and Jenny away from Fredericks Design long enough for me to put my plan into place. So I had planned on three of those cruises going to those three women. The other five are to be given out through a draw. Now that my original plan is up in smoke, I think all eight of the week long cruises should be awarded through the draw. What do
you think?”
“Now that the whole company is aware those three had a s****| relationship with Adam, and that Alan condoned it, I think it would look like a bribe or payoff if they were “awarded” a cruise. That wouldn’t be good for them, the company, or for you as the owner. With that in mind, I would put all eight of those cruises up for the draw. I would suggest that the draw be done in the large conference room with each employee writing their name down and personally putting it in the ‘hat‘. Then have Jonathan draw the names.”
“That makes complete sense. I’ll email Jonathan tomorrow, or maybe ask him to come here and meet with me. I have some things to discuss with him anyway.”
I paused briefly as I sent Jonathan an email through the encrypted email program, knowing he would open it immediately. He responded within minutes, saying he would be here just after eleven in the morning. One of our cloak and dagger methods of meeting was he and his wife
going to their regular Sunday morning church service. Only once they entered the church, he would leave through a back door and take a pre–arranged uber to our meeting place. Perhaps we were being overly cautious, but knowing what I know now, I don’t doubt that the vipers would be watching him. As my grandmother always said, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
“Now, enough business for today. I think that tomorrow, after you get your stuff packed up and you come back here, we need to discuss the wedding.” I know my face lit up when I said this. I was excited to become Bradley’s wife. Excited that he would be my husband. Yeah, I know,
crazy.
We chatted a bit more until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. I hugged Jenna, wishing her a good night, then crawled into bed, falling asleep within moments. Bliss.
Bradley’s POV

I tried to be quiet and not wake Anna as I got ready for bed. My bathroom routine completed, it didn’t take me long to slip into bed and pull my beautiful woman close, spooning her. Holding her in my arms feels so very right. Like it was meant to be. I now can’t even imagine my life

without her. She is my everything.
Remembering the text I had received earlier from my mother, I smiled to myself. She was
thrilled that I was getting married once I told her who my bride was. She had jumped on board with arranging the ceremony, the only disappointment being that Judge Lambert wasn’t able to officiate. However, he had recommended a mutual friend, Judge Thorne who gladly agreed
to do the honors.
Mom had been wondering about what type of wedding dress Anna would want, but I assured her we would be back in Toronto late morning on Monday. She and Dad were going to meet us at my home, eager to meet their future daughter–in–law. I did wonder how Dad was able to leave his protection duties, but I’m confident he will make sure he is not derelict in his duties. He would never risk the safety of one of the Graystone treasures. Especially now we are so
close to the end goal.
As I snuggled one of the Graystone treasures to my chest, I slowly drifted off to sleep, thankful
I had found my soulmate.
Unknown’s POV
The bourbon was not doing the trick. Tonight it didn’t seem to have the same calming effect as it had over the past four years. The phone calls I have been receiving for the past few days have me stressed out to the nth degree.
I swear to god, Lydia is f**king useless! And don’t even get me started on Alan and Fiona. F**k! We are this close, this close to having it all, and what do they do? They royally f**k everything up. How many times have I talked to them about treating Anna nicely? Make her feel like part of their family. But did they do that? No they did not.
Those three treated her like crap. They did all they could to undermine her which simply pushed her to cut them out of her personal life. Now I find out she has fired both Alan and Fiona. Meaning now I have no one to keep an eye on her. She even fired her fiance, Adam Rivers. He has dropped out of sight. Does that mean he is hiding with his tail between his legs? Who the hell knows?
To complicate matters, Wade Blackwood called to advise me that Lydia and Alan contacted him and arranged a hit on Anna. Those f**kers! I told them I need her alive. This has got to be Lydia, trying to take control of Graystone International. I know that b*tch is trying to cut me out. But no way will I allow that. I have worked and planned this for too long to allow her to
take what should be mine.
Four months. That’s all, four months! Why are they messing things up now? Everything was going along as planned. Anna doesn’t have to die for me to get what I want. What I deserve.

She’s a good kid. She has a good and generous heart. She would see the unfairness of the situation, and she would want to fix it. But she has to be alive on her twenty–fifth birthday to do that.
So I made sure Wade didn’t act on what Lydia asked him to do. Wade knows better than to mess with me, so he backed off. The million dollar payoff made sure of that. He’s on a plane back to Mexico with instructions that Anna is off limits for all time. He touches her, even
breathes near her, and I’ll make sure he’s skinned alive.
That’s one problem taken care of. Now I have to find a way to neutralize Lydia, Alan, and Fiona. But again, I need them to be there at the party for Anna’s twenty–fifth birthday. I can make sure they take the fall for Iris’s death. Provide the evidence needed to convict them. With
them out of the way the only one left to eliminate is Adam Rivers.
I’ll be Anna’s hero. As her hero she will give me what I want. What I deserve.
