Chapter 16
What the hell? Did I just get a proposal of marriage? Was Bradley serious? Who in their right. mind proposes marriage four short days after meeting someone?
Spencer didn’t hesitate. “We can arrange a special license. You two could be married as early.
as the middle of next week.” He continued to talk as though the suggestion was a done deal.
“I’ve already submitted your paperwork to change your last name to Graystone. It should be
done by tomorrow before you leave for Halifax. You can apply for the marriage license with the Graystone name.”
I sat there, mouth agape, staring at Spencer as he continued to update me on the progress of
everything I had requested in my email of early this morning.
“I’ve also completed the paperwork that will legally sever all ties to Alan Fredericks, Lydia
Fredricks, and Fiona Fredericks. That paperwork won’t be completely processed for another five or six weeks. So what do you think, shall I apply for a special marriage license for you?” Spencer finally stopped speaking and looked at Bradley and I expectantly.
“I think that’s a wonderful idea, Spencer. What do you think, Anna? How about we tie the knot?
Get married. Have babies. Grow old together.” Those sexy eyes of his gleamed with anticipation of my answer. To Spencer’s utmost surprise and delight, Bradley reached over, grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my chair and onto his lap, then proceeded to kiss the
common sense out of me.
“Say yes, Red.” he whispered huskily before claiming my lips again in a hot sensuous kiss.
I mean, really, who in their right mind could resist a kiss like this? Not me. “Yes.” I replied This is crazy. I am crazy. There is now no doubt that I have totally lost my mind.
I could almost hear my grandmother’s laughter echoing in my mind. She used to say that when I finally fell for a guy there would be no stopping me. She said I would meet, wed, and produce a baby within a year. I used to laugh at what I thought was her silliness. Dear
heavens, just who is the silly one now?
“Okay, we can fill out the special license application tomorrow. I can arrange for Judge Lambert to perform the ceremony at the end of next week. Bradley, you should ask your mother to arrange a very small private wedding, don’t you think? She would love to do that.” Spencer wasn’t wasting any time on this. You would think he had this all planned before hand. Without pause, he continued.
“So, Anna, your house in Halifax? What are you going to do about it? I can’t imagine you would

want to keep it after what I saw. Should I get our real estate division to put it on the market for you?” Spencer asked, bringing my attention back to him.
I was going to move back to my original seat, but Bradley kept hold of me, not allowing me to move off his lap. Well, this is awkward for a business meeting.
I
“Stay put. I like you there.” The warm sexy timber of his voice practically melted my panties.
Spencer snickered, very unprofessional of him, I must say. I blushed, but answered him anyway. “Believe it or not, but Jenna already has an offer on the house. I’ll need Tony to put a rush on the paperwork, but I’ll have everything moved out this weekend. It won’t take me long to pack my personal belongings, and I have a moving crew coming in on Saturday to pack up everything else. There’s not that much to pack as I didn’t have time to purchase much. These last few months I was away on business more than I was in Halifax.”
“Where are you going to store everything?” Spencer inquired.
“I’m not storing anything. I’m donating it all to the women’s shelter charity. I don’t want
anything that Adam and Fiona tainted with their betrayal. I’ll make sure to pay the chairty to
have anything with a soft surface profesionally steam cleaned. Lord knows where else those
two did the
nasty.” I shuddered with disgust.
Both Bradley and Spencer burst out in laughter. What? It’s the truth. No one wants second
hand furniture that hasn’t gone through a thorough steam cleaning. Who knows what’s been
done to it, or on it?
“Anna, if you have room on the company jet tomorrow, would it be alright if Jill and I hitched a
ride? We haven’t been to Halifax in months, and I would love to visit my brother and his family.
We could even handle all the paperwork for the house sale for you. He can act as your
attorney, and I will act for the buyers. It’s a win/win for everyone.” Spencer’s suggestion was
met with complete agreement.
“Of course you and Jill can hitch a ride. I would love the company. It’s a big jet for just one person.” I looked forward to spending the flight time with him and Jill.
“I’m coming with you, my soon to be wife. I’m not letting you out of my sight for a moment.”
Bradley smiled as he said this, but I could sense the seriousness behind his words.
I took a few moments to look into his eyes, seeing nothing but what I think was a look of love shining back at me. I am quite sure he can see the same in mine. “Sounds good to me,” was
all I said before giving him a very brief kiss.
My phone chimed, indicating it was now four in the afternoon. “Spencer, can we go over the paperwork to set up the new company and the partnership agreement next week? I don’t want

to discuss any of that while in Halifax.”
“Of course. And I do believe I should be with you and Bradley as your legal representative when you advise ‘management‘ that you secured the reno contract of Bradley’s office building, and that you will be required to live in Toronto for the next four months. Once that’s settled, you can meet privately with Adam and do your ‘we need a break‘ speech. Of course, both Bradley and I will be in the outer office in case Adam kicks up a stink.”
“That sounds reasonable. We can all fly back to Toronto on the company jet early Tuesday morning, if that’s acceptable to you and Jill.” I was amazed at how calmly I was handling all of this. Here I was, just a little over forty–eight hours after finding my fiance cheating on me, to agreeing to marry a man that I had met a few days ago. Yes, I knew him briefly when I was a child and he was a teen, but just now met the man. Things like this only happened in romance novels, or TV dramas. Or at least that’s what I used to think. Not anymore!
“Time to let Spencer get to work on that special marriage license application. Let us know when the name change paperwork is completed, and we’ll be over to sign the license application.” Bradley took charge of finalizing our meeting, and guided me out of the office with a “see you tomorrow, Spencer.”
In the lobby, I texted Hector to let him know we were ready to be picked up. His response was swift. “Already here, parked out front.‘
With that, Bradley and I exited the building and got into the waiting car. “Back to the St. Regis, Hector. Then you go home to Connie. Tomorrow I’ll need to come back to see Spencer at some point. I’m also going to reschedule the meeting I had at the office until next week. We’ll need to be at the airport by four tomorrow afternoon so I’ll need you for that.”
“Certainly, Ms. Graystone. Just text me when you need me. I’m at your disposal whenever you’re in the city.” We arrived at the St. Regis, with Hector pulling up in front to allow us to alight. “Sir, would you like me to drop you off anywhere?” Hector politely asked Bradley.
*Thank you, but no. Ms. Graystone and I still have some business to go over. I do look forward to seeing you againt tomorrow though.”
“Enjoy yor evening,” was his knowing response, then he get in the car and drove off.
We entered the lobby and headed for the elevators, which whisked us to the top floor and my suite. We walked circumspectly to the door where he swiped my keycard to gain entrance. Inside I placed my briefcase and purse on the credenza while Bradley closed and locked the
door.
I turned around to ask him something when suddenly I was in his arms, gently pushed up against the wall, his body pressed closely to mine. His lips descended to mine, claiming them

in a searing, needy kiss. His right hand tangled in my hair leaving his left hand the freedom to
explore my body at will.
The sensations he aroused were driving me to the edge. My hands roamed over his neck,
shoulders, back, and everywhere else I could touch. My fingers found their way to his front,
and started to unbutton his shirt with the intent to feel the heat of his skin upon my hands.
was a moaning, soaking mess. I wanted this man. More than I had ever wanted anything in
my life.
He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I could feel the hardness of his c**k
grinding on me, rubbing against my nub, driving me to the brink. I moaned as my body
shuddered with the force of my climax.
