CHAPTER 59
IVY POV
ONE YEAR LATER
Well, surprisingly I have settled into my role as Luna pretty well now. I didn’t think I could ever really accept this position but here I was. I was doing it. All of our little villages had been completed and a lot of people had jobs off of the territory but that was fine. That was always allowed because there weren’t enough jobs in our pack to accommodate everyone. And
everyone seemed really happy.
Freya was doing great in school and she was even seeing a boy from her grade that we liked really much. He was a good kid and didn’t get into trouble. It was funny seeing Asher with her
though. Asher had definitely taken on the father figure in her life and he gave that poor boy the
grilling of a lifetime when he came to the house for the first time. I felt so sorry for him. I eventually had to stop it and let the boy know that the Alpha of his pack was just kidding. I
didn’t want Asher to scare him off.
Freya looked happy with him and that’s the way I wanted it to stay. I know that she had a mate
out there, but this was an innocent school yard relationship and Beau hadn’t been back since
he left. He didn’t even come back for our wedding. But he sent flowers and a gift and he
mentioned that he did really want to be there. But he knew that it was too risky. Freya had
grown attached to him while she was here.
She’s only 13 now so he still needed to stay away and I was happy that he had made the right
choice to stay away. For her sake.
I woke up one morning and rolled over to see Asher lying next to me watching me sleep.
“You know that looks really creepy.” I tell him and he chuckles.
“I can’t help it. You look so beautiful when you’re asleep.” He says.
“Whatever you say.” I say. And he smiled a devious smile at me. “What?” I asked.
“Wanna keep trying for a baby?” He asked.
“We have been trying. It will happen when it happens.” I say. And he quickly rolled over on top
of me.
“Only if we keep trying.” He says kissing me.
“Men.” I sighed out. And he chuckled again as I put my arm around his back and he kissed me
again and trailed kisses down my neck and down my shoulder to my mark where I let out an

“I know you do.” I laughed at him. And he kissed me again.
He reached down between us to adjust himself and in one quick movement he thrust straight.

And after a couple more thrusts Asher stilled inside of me as he found his own release.
He rolled off of me and we both laid there pretty breathless for a bit. Before I finally got up and
I went to get in the shower. But Asher was quick to join me.
When we got out of the shower we got dressed and we went downstairs to the dining room. and the new omega that we had working at the packhouse bought out our breakfast and
coffee.
“I was thinking about something.” Asher says to me.
“Should I be concerned?” I asked.
“No. I was thinking that maybe we should go to the doctor. We’ve been trying to get pregnant
for a year and it’s not happening.” He says.
“I know. But sometimes, it takes time. That’s all.” I say.
“I know. But usually with Alpha’s, it happens straight away. I mean, I was surprised that you weren’t pregnant at the wedding because we were having s*x before then.” He says.
“Yeah. I have heard that Alpha’s get their mates pregnant pretty much the first time.” I say
thinking about it for a moment.
“That’s what has me worried.” He says.
“I don’t know. I really don’t know if I want those sorts of test results.” I say.
“I know. It’s scary, but then we can plan for alternatives if there is something wrong with either
of us.” He says.

“What alternatives?” I asked.
“Adoption. Surrogacy.” He says.
“But that wouldn’t be our biological kid. I know that you want your own child.” I say.
“I want you more. And I am willing to go down other paths to get the kids that we want.” He
says.
“Alright. Can I think about it?” I asked.
“Sure.” He says. And our new packhouse omega, Lucy, walked over to us.
“Is everything alright here? Do you need anything else?” She asked.
“No thanks. We’re fine.” Asher says politely. So she walked off.
When we finished breakfast Asher had work to do in the office and I headed to the hospital to make sure that everything was alright and running smoothly there. There weren’t too many patients there but the staff seemed happy and they were all doing really great.
So after that I walked around the pack and made sure that everyone had everything that they needed before I started heading towards the packhouse again.
I saw Lucy sneaking out the back of the packhouse and she looked like she was up to something. She was looking around to make sure that she wasn’t followed and she took off towards the woods. So I started following her making sure that she didn’t see me.
I followed her all the way to the border and I know that the patrols had just passed through this area so they won’t be back for a while. She met with a man and he gave her something in a small black bag. I then opened the mind link to Asher so that he could hear everything that was going on in front of me.
“Remember. Just a couple of drops in her morning coffee. We don’t want her to be sterile. We just want to make sure that she doesn’t get pregnant until we’re ready to make our move.” The man said to her.
“I know. I’ve been doing this for six months. I can handle it.” Lucy says.
“Alright. Get back before they notice that you’re missing.” The man says.
“Hey, how’s Levi doing?” She asked.
“He misses you. But don’t worry. You’ll see him again soon.” The man says.
“I better. I want out of here. I need to be with him.” Lucy says.
“Don’t worry. You will be. He’s planning the attack now. We’re going to get the Luna, but we will

be in touch and make sure that you stop giving her that birth control before we snatch her. It’s the only leverage that we’ll have over the Alpha.” The man says.
“I know. Tell Levi that I will see him soon.” Lucy says. And she turned to walk back to the packhouse and I needed to hide behind a huge tree to make sure that she didn’t see me. Or pick up my scent.
‘What the f**k?‘ Asher asked through the link.
‘I don’t know. But leave it for now. Let her think that she’s getting away with it. Now that we know she’s up to something and they are planning an attack. They aren’t taking me again. I insist.
‘f**k no. Get back to the packhouse, now.‘ Asher demanded.
So when I got back to the packhouse I went to his office and Asher was alone.
“Well, I am making my own coffee in the morning from now on.” I say as soon as I walk into the room.
“If you do that then she’ll know that we know. And she’ll take off and abort the mission.” He
says.
“She’s slipping me birth control in my coffee. She’s the reason we don’t have a baby.” I say.
“I know. Believe me, I want to kill her for that. But we need to go on as usual. Go by our day to day activities.” He says.
“Who knows what else she’s doing. She mentioned Levi. I thought I killed him. I stabbed him in the eye. How the hell can he still be alive?” I asked.
“I don’t know. But I’m putting a guard on Freya. Just in case.” He says.
“Thank you. He’s not getting her back. She’s mine now.” I say.
“Wow. Very possessive.” He says.
“Hell yeah I’m possessive. She’s my sister and she doesn’t deserve that life. She’s a good kid.”
I say.
“I know. He’s not going to get his claws back into her.” He says.
“She’s been here for six months, Asher. God knows what she’s overheard and told them.” I say.
“That’s exactly what I was thinking. We need to do something about that.” He says.
“Why don’t we just lock her in a cell? She won’t be able to contact Levi or her friends and we
find out the f**king truth.” I say.

“The truth is clear. They want us to pay for killing Jackson and you no doubt blinded Levi in one eye. They want revenge.” Asher says.
“But he couldn’t have put together a pack big enough to take us on.” I say.
“Not unless they’ve already got people on the inside here.” He says. And I look at him really worriedly and I look outside his window at the warriors training. Could they be working for Levi? How many moles could we have here since we opened up our borders to refugees.
