CHAPTER 140: DARE TO LOVE ME She
Loli
The past two days had been a nightmare. Since they took Cariñito and Mrs. Paula away yesterday, we haven’t stopped praying for their return. They’d robbed us of our peace, and worst of all, I was very worried about Gavin. Yesterday, he had left with Mr. Garnett and the others to try to rescue them. I hoped they were all okay.
We were in the living room waiting for news. The morning had come, and no one had slept. Ash and Caty had decided to get Alana ready, and I was here, full of tension, hoping they had
succeeded.
“They’ve been rescued; they were taken to the hospital,” Mr. Darius informed us after ending a call. Tino and I held hands before hugging each other happily, and the mood in the house quickly improved.
“Is everyone okay?” Mrs. Grace asked.
Ash came down the stairs with Alana in his arms.
My eyes darted back to him, and I nervously clasped my hands together.
“Some are injured; three are in serious condition,” my heart stopped, and I turned to look at
Ash, who had the same expression as me now. Tino touched his chest.
“But who are they?” Mrs. Elise asked, and my face turned towards him again.
“The plane crew and Killian,” he looked at Mr. and Mrs. Garnett. Mrs. Grace looked shocked, and Mr. Dominic closed his eyes.
“I’ll take care of it,” Mr. Darius said, turning around.
“We’ll all go,” Elise spoke, and we prepared to leave the house.
“Are you happy? We’re going to see Mom, Noah, and Dad,” Ash tenderly spoke to Alana as we rode in the car.
“Yes,” she nodded with a smile. Ash gently pressed her against his body and showered her
with kisses.
We walked to the entrance and found Mrs. Paula with Mr. Patrick, accompanied by another
woman. We all approached her to hug her, delighted to see her well.
“Where are Nick and Noah?” Mrs. Grace asked Mr. Patrick.
“I’ll take you to the room,” he said, giving Mrs. Paula a look.

Once we entered the room, the tensions eased, and it was all hugs and kisses. When I got the chance, I gave Noah a few kisses, who welcomed me with delight. I caressed his precious little face before wrapping him in my arms.
After seeing that everyone was there, I felt the need to give them some space, as the room was getting crowded.
“You can wait for them in the waiting room, miss,” a nurse approached me while I was standing by the door, devising a plan to find out Gavin’s condition.
“Thank you. Could you inform me about the condition of one of the people brought in today?” I
walked with her, gave her the name, and she said she’d be back soon.
I took a seat, and luckily, the views here were better than where I was. I saw a few trees and
green grass.
I lost myself looking at them while clasping my hands, and I noticed a nurse coming out of a
room next to the lovely window, leaving the door open. My eyes widened when I saw Gavin on
the bed. I decided not to move so he wouldn’t notice me. It calmed me to know he was okay;
he had a bandage on his arm, and his hand seemed injured.
I bit my lip and stopped looking at him, fearing he might realize I was there.
His movements made me look at him again. He’d taken off the sling from his arm and was now struggling to put it back on. Stubborn as he was, they surely told him not to remove it.
I watched his countless attempts to put it back on and bit my lip harder, hoping he would
succeed or that the nurse would arrive, as the last thing I wanted was for him to know I was
there.
I looked insistently down both sides of the hallway. Come on, where were the nurses when you
needed them?
“Damn,” I heard him say as he lowered his injured arm slowly, gritting his teeth. That must
have hurt a lot.
“You’ll regret it,” a voice sounded in my mind as I stood up.
“I can’t be insensitive,” I told myself and walked into the room.
Without saying anything, I started helping him put the sling back on, and he looked surprised
to see me.
“I was here by chance. I saw someone needed help and came,” I explained before he could say
anything.
“Thanks for coming,” he looked into my eyes, appearing drowsy.

“It was nothing. I didn’t even know it was you,” I lied blatantly, and something in his changed, “If I had known, I would’ve called the nurse to avoid bothering you.”
I made sure everything was in order and turned to leave.
“You don’t bother me… I’d like you to stay,” he said, leaving me stunned. Why did he Clarifying and grounding my muddled thoughts, I responded.

say that?
“You’re under the effect of several medications. I assure you, it’s not me you’d ask to stay,” I said, composing myself and without looking at him, left the room just as the nurse entered and saw Gavin trying to stand, an action she stopped.
“What are you doing in my boyfriend’s room?” Gavin’s girlfriend grabbed my arm, and I quickly pulled away and looked up at the sky.
“That’s none of your business,” I walked past her, but she stopped me again.
“It is my business. I already told you I don’t want you near him,” she whispered angrily, but this
woman…
“I couldn’t care less what you want. You should know we’re in a hospital with many people who might need someone, a humane act that can’t be denied to anyone, but you can’t expect much from someone who only uses their head to make pretty hairstyles. I advise you to try to arrive earlier next time someone you ‘care about‘ is in a hospital,” I pulled away from her hand and walked towards Tino and Ash, who was coming out of Mr. Nick’s room.
I could only hear the footsteps of that woman’s shoes.

I felt the throbbing pain in my arm. The night had been intense, but it was a relief to have rescued them after we couldn’t provide the necessary security.
They had sedated me to put my arm back in place. It had hurt like hell. At one point, I felt the sling wasn’t necessary and decided to take it off–a bad idea. But Lola came to the rescue, and I was surprised to see her. I had expected anyone but her. All I knew was that everything inside me stirred having her close, seeing her eyes, and that she had decided to help me. I understood each of her responses, and they annoyed me because they were the result of my
actions.
“How are you?” Sharon entered the room unexpectedly, taking my face in her hands after asking.
“I’m fine,” I adjusted my arm and decided not to ask how she got there.

“Why was that woman here?” she demanded, rubbing her forehead with my good hand.
“She saw me struggling with this,” I pointed to my arm, “and came to help me,” I clarified.
Her expression was one of anger.
“That fool!” she walked to the door and guessed her intentions, I stood up, feeling better, and grabbed her arm before she could reach Lola.
“I demand you not speak of her with insults,” I spoke softly but with a hard tone. Sharon looked at me with wide eyes.
“Are you taking her side?” she commented indignantly.
“I don’t want you near her,” I muttered through gritted teeth.
“Gavin Ledgett, I’m not willing to tolerate you defending another woman who isn’t me,” she raised her chin, “right now, you have to choose between that woman… and me,” she breathed heavily and continued looking at me. I had distanced myself from her, and the relationship had stopped working for a long time.
“Her,” I answered confidently and looked at Lola just when her eyes were on me.
“You’re an i***t!” Sharon pushed me and stormed down the hallway.
“You need to get back to bed,” the nurse asked me to enter the room.

“Thank goodness everyone is okay. Well, the good ones are okay,” Tino spoke, going to one of the couches and inviting us to sit. I sat across from them, and we started talking. Not much time passed before I saw Gavin’s girlfriend storming out of the room, he stopped her, and they exchanged words in low tones. I couldn’t hear anything and decided to pay attention to Ash
and Tino, who, from their position, couldn’t see what was happening.
The woman gestured towards where I was, and I looked at them again. She pushed him when he said something, then left, and Gavin looked at me even as the nurse asked him to go back
into the room.
What was that?
“Come on, let’s go. I’ve regained my appetite. I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday,” Tino
stood up and walked, Ash and I followed him.
“Ash, darling, am I seeing things? Aren’t those the giants who work for your father?” Tino
pointed to some men dressed in black who were talking among themselves and coming up

the stairs.
“They’re very close, hide, Loli,” Ash asked me, and I entered the first door I found. They tried to
enter another one across from where I was, but it was locked. I was about to tell them to
come in, but the men were already just a few steps away.
“Make yourself taller,” Ash asked Tino, and he raised his back and shoulders.
Tino enclosed Ash between his body and a door, almost looking like they were kissing. I half–closed the door and saw the men pass by, just as Mr. William crossed paths with them and observed Tino and Ash, who seemed to be in a romantic moment.
“Let’s go, Loli,” Tino hugged Ashley without looking back and didn’t realize there was someone
else besides me.
“Asher?” Mr. William questioned, pointing at him while seeming upset about something, then looked at the giants dressed in black with confusion.
I smiled awkwardly and walked quickly to catch up with them.
