CHAPTER 56
So we all had dinner together and then I got Freya into bed and I headed to the bedroom with Asher.
“Hey, I was thinking that maybe we could go out after all of this is over. Just a date. The two of us.” Asher says.
“That sounds awesome. I would love that.” I say.
“You look like you need a good stress reliever.” He says.
“Absolutely. I really do.” I say. And he put his arms around my waist and put his head in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent. I put my arms around him and at that moment, I really didn’t want to move. I was exactly where I wanted to be. Just the two of us without anyone else around or watching us or wanting our attention. It was just the two of us.
The next morning when I woke up I got up and got dressed and headed downstairs to the kitchen and everyone was already there.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“It’s only 7am. We were up early.” Asher says. And I noticed that Beau was already at the house and he was sitting right across from Freya. So I sat next to her and it was a buffet style breakfast. So I got Freya and myself some breakfast and I sat back down next to her.
I couldn’t help but watch everything that Beau was doing now. He was worrying me around Freya. I was really concerned that he was going to hurt her. It wasn’t her fault that she was Jackson’s daughter. The same as it wasn’t my fault. She is nothing like him and in a way, she did save my life. Which proves that she’s nothing like her father. I was going to need someone to keep an eye on them while they are together. Luckily I had Spencer today.
It took five full days of interrogations and regrettably I had sentenced 450 people to death, 1200 got 200 silver lashes, 2000 got 500 silver lashes and 4350 people were sentenced to slave labor. They were going to be building new houses for the refugees. Since we now owned most of Louisiana we had a lot of land to build on now. And we were building in sections. So that not all of the houses were cramped together. There were little bunches of houses built in the clearings in the woods. There were probably 10 to 20 houses in each clearing with the woods all around them and they would be their own little communities, but the town and everything was staying where it was.
We were also building little shops so that the people didn’t have to cross almost the whole state just to go grocery shopping or anything like that. Asher and I were planning everything

out perfectly with the maps and letting everyone know what was going on and where things were going to be built.
After a long day of working I got up to the bedroom at 5pm and I noticed a box on the bed waiting for me. So I opened it and there was a beautiful dress and matching jewelry inside and shoes next to it.
I think it’s time for that date that I promised you. Get ready and I will meet you downstairs at

So I went to have a quick shower and then I sat in front of the vanity and I did my make up and styled my hair. And then I got dressed into the red silk off the shoulder form fitting dress with a sweetheart neckline and a bit of a mermaid hem to it. It was really simple but beautiful and that is what I loved. I then put on diamond earrings and a matching necklace and bracelet and the red strappy high heels.
I then walked outside my room and I started walking down the stairs and I saw Asher waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs in a tuxedo. And once he saw me he stopped what he was doing and just stared at me.
“You look beautiful.” He tells me.
“You don’t look so bad yourself.” I tell him. And he kissed me. ” So, are you going to tell me where we’re going?” I asked.
“Nope. Let’s go.” He says.
“Wait. We need a picture.” Freya sang out. So she grabbed her phone that I bought her and she
took several photos of us two together and then Asher ushered me out of the house.
We drove to the human town that was the closest to us and we pulled up outside a restaurant
that I thought was closed because there was no one inside.
But, Asher opened the door and the staff were waiting for us. He bought out the place for the
night, just for us. I should have known. I don’t know why I was surprised.
We were seated at the best table in the house and the meals were all arranged and it was a
three course meal. I could tell that Asher was nervous during dinner but I just tried to ignore it.
And while we were waiting for dessert I noticed that he was looking around even more
nervous then he was before.
“Alright Asher. What is going on with you? I’ve never seen you nervous before, ever.” I say. I took a drink of the wine and when I looked back over at him he was on one knee next to me holding open a ring box with a beautiful triple diamond ring with diamonds all around the
band of it.
