CHAPTER 55
When I woke up the following morning I looked at the clock and realized it was 9am. I never expected to sleep that late. I guess I was more exhausted than I thought.
Asher was still lying next to me and I rolled over and he was awake just watching me sleep.
“You know. That could be considered creepy.” I joked.
“I know. But you look so peaceful.” He says.
“I was. It was a good sleep.” I say.
“I could tell. You were out like a light.” He says.
“Oh crap. I have to check on Freya.” I say about to get up. But Asher pulled me back down to
the bed.
“I just did. She’s awake and dressed and Spencer took her downstairs to get some breakfast.
She’s taken care of.” Asher says.
“I don’t want her to think that I’m ignoring her.” I say.
“She doesn’t think that. I explained to her that you were still asleep. That you were exhausted.
She’s 12. She’s not stupid. She knows what happened to you and that you were kidnapped.” He
says.
“Okay then. Are you sure that she’s alright?” I asked.
“I’m positive. And Spencer will mind link us if there are any problems. I just need you to be yourself for a while.” He says rolling over and pulling me over so that my head was on his
chest. And I was listening to his heartbeat.
“Finally. Peace.” I whisper out. And he was rubbing circles on my back and I closed my eyes just enjoying the moment that we were having together. Because it wasn’t going to last for long. We needed to get up soon. We were busy today.
When we did finally get up I got dressed into a black blouse, black pants and boots. And then I went downstairs and Asher was dressed respectably and so was Henry, Elsie, Cole and Beau.
“It’s about time we saw you two today.” Henry teased. And I just smirked.
“Holy s**t. It finally happened.” Spencer says running over to me and looking at my neck. And
then she looked at Asher’s neck.
“Damn dude. It’s about time.” Cole says, shaking Asher’s hand.

“Well, I said that I would do it on her 18th birthday and I kind of missed that birthday. And she
was just kidnapped and because she wasn’t marked, I couldn’t feel her at all. That was torture.
I wasn’t going to let that happen again.” Asher says, putting his arm around me.
Freya then came into the room and ran over and hugged me.
“Hi sweetie. How did you sleep last night?” I asked.
“Really good. That bed is the best one I have ever slept in.” She says.
“I’m glad you liked it.” I say.
“Why are you all dressed up?” She asked. And I looked at the others briefly.
“Well, today we are going to interrogate the warriors that were working for dad.” I say.
“Oh. Okay.” She says looking down. “Make sure that you use your powers to see if they are lying or not. That’s the best way without putting them under Alpha command.” Freya says.
“How did you know about that?” I asked.
“Dad had been watching you for a while. He said that you could tell when people were lying
just by looking at them.” She says.
“I knew it.” Asher says. And I avoided eye contact. “You knew it too, didn’t you? You just never
said that it was a white wolf gift.” He says.
“Maybe.” I say.
“What else should I know?” He asked.
“Well, you know that I could teleport my conscious self to you while I was kidnapped. And silver and wolfsbane don’t suppress my wolf. I promise, that is all I know about at the moment.” I say.
“Alright. Tell me when you get more powers. It’s bad enough that I know I can’t lie to you without you being able to tell that I’m lying.” He says.
“Why would you want to lie to me?” I asked. And his brother started snickering.
“I was just using it as an example.” He says.
“Dammit. Now I have to keep an eye on you as well.” I say rolling my eyes.
“Well, Freya and I have already planned out our day while you guys are interrogating
prisoners.” Spencer says.
“Thank you so much. Are you alright going with Spencer today?” I asked.
“Yeah. I know that you have a lot to do. You are the Alpha of all of those prisoners. You need

to know what to do with them” She says
“Thank you. I catch up with you later I say hugging her. And she left with Spencer
Asher and I quickly got something to eat and then we headed to the conference room.
The whole lot of us sat behind a long table with Asher and myself right in the middle and the
guards bought in the first prisoner
After the first few interrogations, I knew that we were going to have a few long and hard days ahead of us. But I was trying to get through them as quickly as possible because I didn’t want
to look at them for too long. I would ask them simple questions and I could tell if they were
lying or not. I would simply ask if they were willing to follow Jackson and kill innocent people. And they would answer the question and I could tell if they were lying. So we were getting through them pretty quickly.
But by the time we called it a night I felt exhausted and we headed to the dining room where
dinner was already being served. Freya ran up and hugged me.
“How is it going so far?” She asked.
“You don’t need to be worrying about that sort of stuff. What have you been doing today?” I
asked.
“Spencer has been showing me around the pack. She took me to the hospital and told me that you used to work there. You and your mother would work side by side helping injured warriors
during attacks. Freya says.
“Yeah. We did. That was just after we moved here.” I say as we all take our seats.
“Your sister was amazing in the emergency room. Asher says.
“Beau. I’m glad to see you here again.” I say.
“Yeah. I thought you were living somewhere else now.” Asher said and I kicked him under the
table. “Ouch.” He says rubbing his shin.
“Mom said that I was invited to dinner. She’s afraid that I won’t eat unless I come here.” Beau
says.
“Beau says that he’s going to take me around tomorrow and show me the training fields. Hopefully I can start training soon.” Freya says. And I wasn’t too comfortable with that idea. Not with the way that I kept seeing him staring at her.
‘Spencer. You go with them. I can’t get a read on Beau. He keeps staring at Freya and I don’t
like it. I mind linked her.

‘Sure thing.‘ She says.
