CHAPTER 129: DARE TO LOVE ME I Won’t Go With You

“But that color looks like soup, my dear, for God’s sake,” Tino pointed to the dress design. The
color was a pale orange that I had thought would look good on this model, innovative even,
but now I didn’t think so anymore.
“Well, you’re right, darling. I’ll check out another shade in the samples,” I sighed. Tino nodded
and returned to his iPad to continue reviewing photos. He was the most diligent when it came
to work.
I looked at the design, and William Garnett sneaked into my thoughts. We hadn’t seen each.
other for days, and it seemed my mind wanted to see him.
“Ash,” Alaia rushed into the office.
“What’s up, sweetheart?” I smiled at her, and she laughed a little.
“Carolina needs to go to the Garnett technical building. Antonio had a fall at one of the sites.
He’s fine, and nothing to worry about, but he needs to stay under observation today. Both sides
urgently need to review the situation before continuing work. I know you’re focused on the
designs, but it will only take a few hours. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.”
I lowered my feet from the desk and looked at her. Well, surely he wouldn’t be there; it would
be the engineers who were part of the team, as always in these inspections.
“Alright, I’ll go,” I stood up, left my design tablet on the desk, and took the company one.
“I knew I could count on you,” Alaia kissed my cheeks, making me laugh.
“You can come with me if you want,” I told Tino, and he looked up.
“No, darling, what would I do over there? I’ll go home with Aly and the little ones. Be good,” he
said, blowing me a kiss.
If he knew that about 100 muscular men of all types worked in the technical building, he
wouldn’t say no, but I’d accept his refusal. Tony would surely thank me later.
“Alright,” I shrugged, “I’ll see you at home.”
“Carolina left a few minutes ago. Go in one of the company cars,” Alaia kissed my cheek, and I
nodded, walking to the elevator.
On the first floor of the building, I signaled to one of the bodyguards, and he nodded, getting
into the driver’s seat of one of the cars. This time, I sat beside him; I was a guy, not a damsel

who sat alone in the back. I laughed to myself, and the car started.
After more than an hour of travel, we could see the facilities. Today, the bright sun that usually
accompanied our visits was absent.
We greeted the Garnett engineers, and they guided us on a tour. Carolina and I discussed the progress and took notes. When we’d reviewed half of the work, I felt a tingle in my stomach seeing William a few steps away, talking to one of the workers. I didn’t know where to hide. I
refused to accept what was happening to him, but just seeing him stirred everything inside
- me.
“Sir, we’re making progress. Everything is in order,” one of the engineers accompanying us told
him, and he nodded.
“Good afternoon,” Will greeted us more formally than usual, glancing at me for a second
before looking at his team.
“And what’s with him? Weren’t we friends?”
He talked a bit more with everyone except me and then left.
I frowned as I watched him go and focus on the work, which was why I had come here.
It was almost 5 PM when we finished and left the building. I walked to the parking lot with a
frown. I shouldn’t have cared how the f**k boy had greeted me.
“I’ll prepare the report for Alaia and have it ready by tomorrow,” Carolina said, and I turned to
pay attention.
“Yes, yes, of course,” I smiled at her, and she gave me two kisses before getting into the car.
I looked at the building before getting into the car, made a face, and got in after exhaling
heavily.
I was looking at the landscape before nightfall when we felt the car stop and then move again.
I looked at Gus, who furrowed his brows before the car did the same thing again.
“What’s happening?” I asked.
“I don’t know. I’ll check it,” he got out of the car. I watched him open the hood, and just our luck, it started to rain. I took an umbrella from the back of the car, covered us, and proceeded to help him with the flashlight. I saw him move some things and try to start the car, but nothing
happened.
“Get back in the car, miss,” Gus told me, closing the hood and walking to his seat. I saw him
make a phone call.

“They’ll be here soon,” he informed me when he hung up, and I nodded.
I watched the rain and smelled the scent of wet earth. I inhaled deeply and smiled. I loved the
rain and that smell.
“A car is coming,” I said and proceeded to get out without any care. I was going to get help.
“Miss!” Gus shouted, but I was already out of the car, completely soaked, glaring at the car
that just passed me. People had forgotten how to be kind these days, my goodness.
“Get back in the car, miss,” Gus lowered his window a bit.
I looked at the sky and felt the warm rain on my face. It was pleasant.
“Relax, Gus. I’m enjoying it,” I smiled, and he shook his head.
“You could get sick.”
“I’ll change in the car. I assume you keep spare clothes in case of an emergency,” I stated, and
Gus nodded.
“Good, now relax. This is an extraordinary event that doesn’t happen to me often,” Gus nodded
and smiled. I opened my arms and enjoyed the rain, walking a bit along the road.
“Don’t go too far, miss,” Gus stuck his head out the window, and I turned to look at him,
nodding.
I closed my eyes, feeling the rain on my face, when I heard a screech, making me look at what
was happening.
I wiped the moisture from my face and focused on a luxury car in front of me.
“Are you crazy? What are you doing getting soaked in the middle of a deserted road?” shouted William’s very masculine voice. I thought he had already left. I hadn’t seen his car, but of
course, he didn’t only have one.
I remembered the indifferent look he had given me that afternoon.
“That’s none of your business,” I shrugged and moved away from him.
“Get in. I’ll take you home,” he looked at the SUV in his rearview mirror.
“No, I’m fine. We’re waiting for someone to come for us. You can go.”
“We?” he frowned.
“Yes, I came with one of our bodyguards.”
William got out of the car and took an umbrella before walking towards the SUV, and I
followed him.

“How did you allow her to be out here getting soaked?” he scolded.
“Sir, that’s what Mr. Russell decided. It’s only a matter of time before someone comes for us,”
Gus explained.
“You can’t blame Gus. Don’t you see I’m grown enough to do what I want?” William looked at
me, annoyed.
“Come on, I’ll take you home,” he approached to take my arm.
“I’m not going with you. Haven’t you heard that someone is coming for us?”
“I heard clearly, but you’ll catch a cold if you stay in those clothes,” he pointed out, pulling me
with him.
“I’m not going with you. Gus!” I shouted, and he just looked at me, showing his hands as if to say he wouldn’t do anything. Well, it seemed they had conspired. I’d make sure he got fired. No, I couldn’t do that to Gus; he was a good guy.
William opened the passenger door without letting go of my arm, preventing my escape. He took off my soaked jacket and put his on me.
“Get in!” he pointed to the car’s interior with a frown. My panties were wet, and it wasn’t the
rain.
“I can make you get in,” there he went again.
I looked at him, annoyed by everything he made me feel. Why him? Why did the f**k boy who I couldn’t stand make me feel all this?
I saw him take me by the waist.
“Fine!” I raised my hands and got into the car. Gus nodded at me, and I squinted at him, which amused him. Look at the jerk.
William closed my door, and I crossed my arms, feeling ready for these games.
“Why didn’t you call us?” he complained, and I didn’t look at him. I was upset.
“I won’t talk,” I said, pouting. I was very happy enjoying the rain.
William laughed and shook his head.
“Fine,” he raised his hands in surrender.
We’d been driving for several minutes when I saw another one of the family SUVS coming towards us.
“Stop, it’s from my house,” I pointed to the car.

Will flashed his lights, and both cars stopped.
“Mr. Garnett, sir,” another one of our guys greeted us after lowering his window, “I’ve come for
you. I brought the insurance company’s mechanic,” he explained.
“Perfect,” I said, turning to open the door.
“You’re coming with me,” William held my arm, “You can go,” he told the guy, who nodded and
drove off.
“What was that?” I crossed my arms again.
“The mechanic will take a bit longer to fix the car. You need to change,” he pointed out, and I
made a face. What was he up to now?
I didn’t say anything, and soon we were entering the city. A part of me relaxed, knowing I’d be
home soon.
I didn’t know the roads well, but I was sure this wasn’t the way to Alaia’s house. Everything
became clear when we stopped in front of the apartment building where William lived.
“What are we doing here?” I adjusted in my seat.
“Come on, I’ll lend you clothes to change. We’re still 40 minutes from your house.”
“Excuse me?” I said, assuming I hadn’t understood correctly..
